Low Beta- but a positive :)

Post by jen babes »

Hi all

have jumped over here for some info PLEASE....
My beta was done on 11 dp2dt and was a very low 20 ( the clinic were looking for 50 or above) but it was a BFP POSTIVE !!!!...
my 2nd beta was taken today monday 5th nov 15dp2dt and will get the results on wednesday ( i know a hell of a wait but lab is apparently busy!!!!)
Has anyone had a similar low beta and gone on with a positive pregnancy???

have been reading some info on betabase.com on beta levels and have mixed reviews where some have been ok and others chemical. so i know it could go either way. Hoping and Praying this fighter embie is just a slow starter :D

some positve updates from others would be great

thanks for reading

Hi Jen

These beta levels seem to vary so much and when we are going through IVF/fertility treatment we all (Us and the medics) seem to set so much by them. My beta on day 11 post transfer (Also 2 day transfer) was 52. Ok, but my 2nd beta 2 days later was only 81. Because it didnt double I was told there could be a chance I would miscarry. I worried so much, couldnt enjoy my 'BFP' and didnt have any further tests (Except sneaky HPT's, which kept me sane because the line got darker!) until my first scan.
I now have a beautiful, bright little girl who is nearly two.

Ive seen women on here get healthy beta's which then double ok but unfortunately end in miscarriages. Ive also seen the ones which start with low betas (Even twins!) or like mine, dont double, but still do ok.

Ive had friends, TTC (Not through IVF etc) who dont get positives on their HPT's at the time of their AF,(Same time we are testing) but a few days later do, so their betas must have been below the 50 you need for a 'positive' test.

Anyway, I dont know if I have helped or not, but I suppose I want to reassure you that even though your beta (like mine) isnt 'textbook' it doesnt mean it isnt viable.

Wishing you all the best

Love Kim

Sorry, just trying to work out my dates properly. My EC was on a monday, my ET 2 days later on the wednesday. My pg test was the monday 2 weeks after my EC. Is this the same as yours??

Hi Jenn- my clinic tests 14 days after 2 day transfer - they were looking for at least 100 and mine was 207. They then said see you in 2 weeks 2 days for the scan.

It sounds like you were tested much earlier than me so as long as those numbers keep in increasing you'll be fine. Vicky also had the same questions a couple of weeks ago and her numbers went up really well.

Good luck!

Hi Jen

Sickness feeling sounds great(!!!) I got it from 5 wks, it actually got worse from 11 weeks and I had it all through my pregnancy!! I was only actually sick very occasionally though and it normally helped if I ate something literally as soon as I got up! I was very happy to have it though. It constantly reassured me.

Good luck! Certainly sounds like your hormone levels are going up!

Hi Jen!

Congratulations on the bfp - fantastic news!!!

Can't help as such with actual numbers as my clinic doesn't do bloods BUT their test showed only a very faint positive for me. They made me wait 5 more days to test again, in which time I did 3 hpts. Each were negative. This says to me that my hcg must have been very low.
Anyhow despite that I have a beatiful 1 year old now as a result so yes! there are many happy endings even with low hcg.

Hoping everything is ok tomorrow. fingers crossed they double!

Jen,
I can't believe they are making you wait this long to get the results!! How rude! :x
The one thing that was different with this cycle for me is that my boobs never stopped hurting...made me think hmmm, maybe I am prego and this is a good sign! Didn't get sick til around 6 weeks but that is good that you were feeling that way.
I can't wait to hear your news of your next BETA, praying it doubles and the doctors are happy!!

HUGS,
Allison

Hi buddies

alison and cla thanks for the support...it helped give me hope...i too have agonising boobs and still feel very sick but i have some heart breaking news, my beta has dropped...Its sad that its all over for this little embie....little one Loved and lost...

the next step is to stop the meds( already done) and Af should arrive in 3-4 days .If not will need a scan then D&C. The clinic said that i should bleed ok as only 5 wks gone, they also said we have been unlucky...
yeah I know that script already. As we have been through this twice before....The only consolation ( spelling???) is that this has been lost at 5 wks and not later on where i know it can be more heart breaking ( as those who have had m/c know only to well x x x)

we have decided to wait until DH's busy schedule at work is over ( Nov-dec) and go for FET in Jan.
the only good thing to come out of this is to say at least i did get preg and I gotta hold onto that...

but as you all know Grief hurts like hell...and time is the only way to mend my & Dh's broken hearts. We have each other and that is a Blessing.

unfortunaltely ,my Parents in law are due up tomorrow for 4 days. Nightmare to have to be so vulnerable to them but Will need to tell them as i will be in floods of tears for a few days...

will catch up with you all soon...i will pop back to see how my bump buddies are doing x x maybe be back here in jan/feb too

much love to you my buddies my friends my support network . thanks for being there for me

much love to you all as always
love jen

Dang it! I really thought this one would hang on!
I am so sorry for you, makes me remember all the -ive's, but of course I never had one that was +ive then dropped, so I am sure this is even worse. My heart goes out to you honey but I know God will work all of this out for your good and you WILL hold your baby in your arms soon. It NEVER works out the way we think it will, that is what I have learned. Please love on your DH and take that time to heal. I'll never stop praying for you.

BIG HUGS,
