I haven't had any vomiting in this pregnancy (thank god) or my last natural pregnancy. HOWEVER, in the last 2 weeks (I am now 9 weeks and 2 days) I feel like this pregnancy is kicking my ARS! The indigestion is horrible (perhaps in part due to the fact that I have been deviating from my healthy diet and eating some noodles, potato, a little indian food, etc.). I have also been getting really bad headaches that last for a few days. I am prone to severe migraines but last pregnancy put a stop to them (same situation with my mom). I'm afraid pregnancy isn't stopping them this time and in fact, the progesterone might be making them worse. I stop all meds on Nov 6 -- hoping this will help.

I scheduled my NT for Nov 15 (11 wks, 3days) and my next RE appt is on Nov 5 (I'll be 10 weeks). Just keep hoping I see BOTH HBS each time I go in for my U/S.

Very, very, very tired these days. I was in bed literally all weekend and then had to work from home (with lots of rest in between working moments) on Monday. I am also extremely short of breath. I start huffing and puffing just from getting dressed. Anyone else in this boat? I keep thinking that if I can't breathe now, what am I going to be like once the babies start crowding my lungs!

Haven't told anyone at work yet. Still waiting for the 12 week mark -- 3 more weeks sounds like an eternity at this point. Holidays should make things go a little quicker.

Hope everyone is well. Congrats on all the good NTs

Hi everyone! So I went for my Nuchal scan today. All seems ok - saw both hearts pumping away again. They haven't given us the official risk factor yet, but the consultant did put my mind at ease as he said the measurements were "normal". Twin 1 is 70mm long and the nuchal measurement is 2.2mm, and twin 2 is 62mm long with an NT of 2.1.

The best bit was the fact that I've now actually seen the babies moving around for the first time!!! As soon as he put the ultrasound on I could see one of them wriggling around! One put it's arm up over it's head like a little wave!!!!!!

Then he came to measure number 2 and it was lying with it's back to us so he couldn't measure the neck. The consultant then proceeded to jab my belly quite sharply several times, still with the ultrasound on, and it must have woken baby up because he turned round for us!

I wasn't as long as I'd hoped, especially after hearing some of your stories of it taking about an hour. I was in there a matter of minutes really. But so great to see them again and they had grown so much in just a week.

Another good thing was that the consultant confirmed that I will be getting much more frequent scans. Here in the uk they normally scan at 12, 20 and then once more near the end. But given that it's twins they are going to scan me at 20 weeks and then every 4 weeks from that point on!!

Babyb I know exactly what you mean about the shortness of breath etc. Read some of my earlier posts - I even ended up in hospital because my pulse was racing just walking up the stairs, and I was struggling to get my breath. They kept me in wired up to an ecg machine, and tested for hyperthyroidism, but in the end they put it down to the babies just taking it out of me. I was just told to take it really easy for a few days.

Anyway, love to you all, and speak to you soon!

I'm going shopping with my Mum tomorrow, I can't wait, its my birthday and she is going to buy me someMeternity clothes, although I don't quite need them just yet, I am finally starting to get a proper tummy, quite a few people have looked at my tummy and asked if I was pregnant or just eating too many pies!!!

I know its probably still a bit too early, but I am going to have a look a prams etc as well. I've decided I'm going to use cotton nappies instead of disposables too, I just wish I could get shopping for things like that, but don't want to jinx anything by being too keen.

I have developed a craving.......FOOD! Just any food.....chocolate, pastry, hoola hoops. I'm still getting all of my vegetables too, but I really must be careful, I lost 3 1/2 stone before this IVF treatment and I really don't want to go totally off track.

Unfortunately I have finally developed a pregnancy symptom.... haemorroids! How embarrassing, I thought those would possible become apparant during the birth, not at this early stage. Luckily not painful or bleeding, but I will mention it to my midwife to see if I can do anything for it.

My eczema has also flared up at the moment on my tummy and boobs, and I can't stop scratching, peoplewill think I've got fleas :D

Hit another milestone today -- the 10w mark. BOTH babies are doing just great. They have doubled in size since my 8w U/S. They are measuring about 36.5 mm (approx 1.5 inches) -- so cute! One of the twins was very very active (dancing all around and even sucking her :D thumb) The other twin (maybe a boy???) was sound asleep. TOTALLY OPPOSITE personalities already! My RE poked at twin B a bit and then it woke up and started to kick (a little grouchy if ya ask me). LOL.

In any event, each week that goes by I feel so relieved. I think I'm going to tell my boss at work in about 2 weeks. Anyone have any suggestions about breaking the news? I have only been at my company for about 4 months now so I'll be taking off before a year to have the babies. I'm head of a dept so I'm a bit worried. BUT, my babies come first!!!!!

Headaches are HORRIBLE! I've been in bed for the last 3 weekends. Don't know what is going on! RE said it is too early for blood sugar issues. He took me off all meds today and thinks this might help. Have my NT in a week and a half and then my first regular OB appt at 12 weeks -- yipee! Now, I'm just waiting for that 16 wk mark so I can figure out the sex and go SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!

Hope you are all well.

Hi Babyb! Great news about your last scan!! I didn't get to see mine move until the 12 week scan last week. It was so good to see them move!

I know what you mean about telling work. But you're right babies come first so they will have to deal with it. My work have made me feel a bit guilty about taking so much time off but maybe it's all in my head.

Good luck!!

Congratulations Baby B, it is so wonderful to see, and makes the whole thing a lot more real...sometimes can't quite believe it!

I am going to book in for 3D and 4D scanning when I am about 25 weeks, its totally amazing (a little bit creepy too) Is anyone else going to have that done?

Hi Mandy:

Yes, I'm doing the 3d and 4d scan. They are totally cool! Did them with my first daughter (natural pregnancy -- she passed at a young age . . . long story). We started with the 3d scans at about 13 weeks -- it is protocol for my ultra-sound lab (Love it) and they record everything to DVD so you have great video footage of the lil ones moving about. Actually, going in for a scan next thurs at 11 wks, 3 days and think they may do the 3d scan during my NT.

Thanks to all for the kind words of support. Boy am I sleepy these days!

I'm going for the 3d & 4d scans too. Probably not until at least after 20 weeks though...not sure I really want to see them looking like little aliens! Mandy where are you going for yours? I've had a quick look on the web and there seem to be loads of places around that do it. It will be amazing to see them in 3d!!!

I ordered a cheap baby doppler the other day to try and listen to the heartbeats. It hasn't arrived yet but I'll let you all know when I get it if it's any good. It's one of the cheaper variety (Baby Beats) so I'm not expecting much...only paid £12 for it!

I've been really ill the past 24 hours  It came on like flu symptoms...shivery, bad headache, sore throat. I took my temperature with a digital thermometer and it was a bit elevated - 36.8. Not too high to really panic though. I've been really sick too, not able to keep any food down at all. But it's not like morning sickness, it's different, more like a bug. Anyway I went to the docs last night and she just said it was probably a virus and to drink plenty of fluids which I have been doing. I also took a paracetamol. I hope the little one's are OK, I'm so worried about it hurting them :( :(

Hayley: The nearest place to me that does the 4d scanning, appears to be in Preston, I've looked at quite a few different places on the net and the packages all seem to offer the same things and roughly the same sort of prices. It willbe worth every penny, when I add up what I've spent on fertility treatment so far, it exceeds £16,000, so whats another £150?

Its quite common to get run down when pregnant, as the baby takes a lot of your goodness and leaves you more prone to colds, viruses etc. I've had a stinking cold, and I NEVER get colds! I hope you start feeling better soon, I'm sure you will not be harming your baby, just take care.

I look forward to hearing your stories re the doppler

Hi Lisa. Nice to hear from you again! Wow so you feel lots of movement already? How cool!!! I can't wait to feel some wriggling...haven't felt anything yet.

My doppler arrived yesterday. I thought I'd bought a lemon (it WAS only £12!) as I could barely hear my own heartbeat let alone any baby hearts! But then I read that you need it very low down on your belly in the early stages so I tried that. Still nothing, but then I moved it around slowly and heard the rapid beating of a baby heart!!! It was really nice to just sit and listen to it! It sounded like one. I tried to find baby 2's beat but couldn't. I'm not worried or anything, it's obviously really hard to find the heartbeat, especially on such a cheap bit of kit. I tried again later on but couldn't find anything. Also tried this morning and could hear one faintly but then I lost it. I'd recommend trying one...the Baby Beets one I got seems to do the job and is really cheap on ebay. I guess you'd get better results with one of the more expensive models. But I'm NOT going to get hung up if I can't find the heartbeats, I think it depends where the babies are, how they are lying etc.

Anyway I'm feeling much better now. I think the bug I caught earlier in the week is on the way out!!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi Ladies:

Just wrote a whole post and it went into cyberspace...

Well, I've been feeling a lot of pressure like the babies are coming out so I went to my OB on Monday (3 days before my reg scheduled appt). She put me on modified bed rest this week, told me to get a tummy support (ouch - its so not comfortable) but I also had a slight fever on Monday which turned into a full blown cold. I am miserable. I have a headache, stuffed nose and pain behind my eyes and nose. Doc office called in the z-pak and told me to get robitussin DM BUT that is on recall so got the CVS brand instead. I had been taking x-strength tylenol for the last 2 days (only twice a day though) and it did help but I didn't like th thought of taking so much tylenol. To top this all off - even though I no longer have the M/S I still have the metal mouth which makes this cold so yucky and I don't want to eat. I have to force myself to eat because I had ketones in my urine on Monday too... Never had anyof this stuff with my son but then again my OB likes to point out that I am A LOT older now

Hey LisaPa!!! How are you? How are the beanies? I heard my babies' HBs on Monday via doppler. Since one was in the 120s/130s and the other was in the 150s my OB (apparently subscribes to the old wives tale) believes the slower HB baby is a boy and the other is a girl. Whatever God gives - I pray they are healthy...

So WC is in Italy - I'm sure doing well. I hope we hear from her sometime while she is there so we can get an update...

OK - need to get some (MORE) rest... Love you all... and ALL you ladies hiding!!!!! Come out and tell us hopw you are!!!!

Hello Ladies,
I am so glad that everyone is doing good, well, Cocoa, i hope you will feel better very soon. I am going to my OB on Monday for my regular check up, can't wait till 20 week ultrasound, so we can find out the sex of the baby.
My MS is almost gone, I say almost because if i get up too quickly in the morning and don't eat anything right away , then I throw up :x
I still don't have a belly and still in my regular clothes, kinda worries me that I am not putting on any weight yet, but hopefully it will change soon.
My hospital doesn't offer any 3 or 4d US but I guess that is OK. I could get it somewhere else, but honestly ,after spending over 30K on IVF, I just don't want to spend any extra now. So, hopefully, I will see my baby well enough with 2D.
Good luck to everyone!!!

Hello ladies,

I have not had time to post in forever! I am doing OK though. I feel like I am going to throw up every morning, but I never actually have. I am still waking up at least 3 times a night to pee. :-( I hope it stops soon! When I get up, my beloved pooch thinks it would be a great idea to go out in the yard and play, so it can turn into quite a nighly outing!) I teach at a school that is super far from my house (we wanted a nice house with a big yard that we could eventually afford on one salery & we are both teachers... need I say more!) so I have to wake up at 4:30 every morning to beat traffic and get to work. My commute home is usually 1.5-2 hours so I am exhausted! We are also working on our master's degrees and mentoring teachers through a National Certification program. Needless to say I am tired! Cocoa, I read your post and I too have a cold brewing. I spoke to my doctor yesterday and she said it was safe to take sudafed. I am worried about any medication, though! On a great note, we are telling our families tomorrow! I can't wait!!!! At first it was fun to have a little secret, but now I am dying to tell my parents & my husband's parents! We also have our Nuchal scan on Monday!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!
:-) Michelle
