Hi Ladies! Well, it sounds like we're all well on our way. I had my retrieval this morning and am THRILLED to report that they got 5 mature eggs! DH and I just can't believe it. The doc even came in afterwards and said he was about to cancel our cycle, since I was such a poor responder. Anyway, ET is set for Monday morning. They said because it's the weekend, they typically won't call unless something goes wrong, so we won't know how many fertilized, or how many good embryos we have, but I kind of like it that way. DH and I are hoping to just enjoy the weekend and hope that the phone doesn't ring! :D

Ann D - you live in So Cal? Me too! I'm in Huntington Beach. Where are you? Good luck with your transfer tomorrow. I am sure you will do great.

Nicaliw - 16 embies?! Yay! I'll be thinking of you on Sunday! Good luck! :D

Anie - I lost track, when is your transfer???

Dreambaby - I hope your 2ww is flying by. Keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP!

Danyel, I am like you and felt a lot of the time like I was being rushed out, but finally realized that it's ok to take as much time as you need to get the answers you are looking for. My insurance doesn't cover anything that has to do with infertility, and after a few frustrating visits, I said to myself...I am paying a lot of money and I am going to take as much of their time as I need to in order to get the answers I want. Don't feel bad about asking questions...it's their job to answer them. :D

Welcome Magic Magin!

Sorry if I forgot anyone. Baby dust to all...here's to BFPs for all of us! :D :D

Congratulations cornybaby!! I live in Foothill Ranch and am seeing Dr. Werlin in Irvine. He's great! That's good advice you're giving Danyel. My insurance doesn't cover any of this either. You're right, if you're paying all that money, you better get the service you deserve. I will say a prayer for you that you don't get a call this weekend. Please keep us posted!

My Et was yesterday, and I have been taking it easy, but the ER didn't say anything about bed rest. They said to take it easy the day of ET and then back to normal routine, just no excercise(more than a walk around the block) lifting or pushing anything and no straining. I have been pretty lazy around the house today but I have been sitting alot and not necessarily lying down. Hope that hasn't hurt my chances...This is my first ET

Hi Nicaliw, I had my transfer 48 hours after collection, they seem to do it earlier in the UK?
Yes I had a trigger shot on the night of 30/10 so perhaps I’ll try a hpt on the 15th…
I in Somerset after moving from Hampshire and I love it…. Hope you are enjoying the move over the ‘pond’.

Ann d I think bed rest is a great idea anyway. I have been feeling so tired just from the emotion of it all and so some ‘you time’ can only be for the best!

Thanks cornbaby for your welcome, good luck for Monday

Hi Dream baby, I’ve just taken things easy and had some lie ins (except for this morning when my cat woke me at 6am for breakfast – grrr… My Doc just said do what you feel like doing but no aerobics and let the housework slide – great.

Have a relaxing day everybody!

I have been expeirencing quite a bit of pain in my tummy and wondered if anyone else feels this way? The day of retrieval I was sore and expected this. Yesterday the pain brought me to tears a couple of times, wonder if I over did it though. Today I have woken up with still quite a bit of pain but not as bad as last night. It hurts the most when I change position. Anyone else feel like this?

Nicaliw- I have felt similar pain/pressure and was given medication to alleviate that. I called the nurse also to make sure this was normal after the 2nd day. She assured me it was normal to feel that way for up to another week since they retrieved 19 eggs (and you had even more eggs)! She also said to take it easy and restrict yourself to indoor activities, not a lot of moving around or even going out shopping. Maybe you should call your doctor/nurse and ask if your pain is anything you should be concerned about.

Dream_baby- about the bed rest.... it seems every doctor has a different opinion about this and that may be because every patient is different. This is my first ET as well, but I've had 3 unsuccessful IUIs before. I would talk to your doctor and see if bed rest is recommended and then follow whatever he/she says.

Well, in about an hour, I'm going in for my ET... I'm excited and nervous!!!

I'm taking my laptop with me during bed rest so that if the Dr. says it's okay, I can go on the Internet to see how everyone is doing. Good luck everyone with your ET or 2ww period!! :D

Hi.

Im feeling some pain too.
Today i will take it easy.

My transfer could be tomorrow day 3 or Tuesday blastocyst day 5.

I wanted to know, who decides if the transfer is on day 3 or 5? We or the doctor?

I'm getting nervous and dont know what to do......
If i go for blastocyst then do you think i should tranfer 1 or 2?

Previously we have decided on 2 but now im confused :S

Any advice?
Please...

Nicaliw - did your doc give you anything for the pain? Mine prescribed me some vicodin for after the retrieval, but I haven't had to use it, thank goodness. They did tell me to take tylenol though, if the pain was minor. I have a tiny bit of cramping here and there, but thats about it. I suppose it could be because they only got a few...versus the double-digits you all got. :) I have seen a few other posts where people said they were more uncomfortable on day 2. You might want to call the office though, just to make sure all is normal.

As for the bedrest, it's interesting how everyone is so different. After ET, I'll be on "strict" bedrest for 4 days. They said I can only get up to go to the bathroom. No showers even. They did say I could lay on my back or stomach or side, and I can sit up at a 45 degree angle every now and then. Although it will be a long 4 days, I sure am looking forward to doing absolutely nothing. :D It'll be a nice mental break, not to mention, nice to have DH waiting on me all the time!! :D

Hi all...

Nicali w – hope you are feeling better? I was quite low for a couple of days after ET as felt sore and crampy, stay positive…

Ann d – how did the ET go – how many and are you feeling ok?

Anie – Hope you are feeling better too… My hubby and I were very clear we do not want twins so we have only put one in… Hope it was the right thing to do… If you can cope with twins and want better odds then go for two…

Cornybaby –hope your fertilisation has gone ok and you are looking forward to the rest. I took it easy but perhaps should have rested more as am very tired a week on…

Thanks everyone for your reponses about the pain, it helped me feel less anxious knowing that this seems to be quite typical. I have been laying around mostly, today, trying not to "jostle" my ovaries because the nurse said this is what maks things worse.

Anie, we don't know yet if we're doing a 3 or 5 day transfer either. The embryologist is going to look at our embryos tomorrow (day 3) and decide when we should transfer. My RE tries to do mostly 5 day transfers because they say blastocycts have a better chance of implantation but I think it also depends on the numbers of embryos. The way it was explained to us is that if on day 3 the embryos clearly weren't dividing well and not looking great they would recommend a day 3 but if they looked great they would give the better ones a chance to excel and the ones that shine above the rest on day 5 would be the most likely to give us the result we're looking for. I hope this helps a little. As far as deciding between 1 or 2 embryos, thats a tough one. If you really don't want twins and do a 5 day transfer then maybe consider just one.....but don't place much emphasis on what I'm saying cause what if you only transfer one and don't get pregnant, you'll wonder what would have happened if you transfered 2......tough decision. We know we'd be happy with twins so we're going for 2.

Ann d, I'm dying to hear how it went today, keep us posted!

dreambaby, how are you feeling? I hope you're getting lots of rest. Wishing you all the best during your 2ww!

Hi everyone!

Well it looks like from the 15 that fertilized, 11 looked good enough to use. The other four they said they would continue to monitor to see how they divide and if possible will freeze them with the other 8 that are frozen. (We implanted 3.) I am now in bed and trying to enjoy the time off. My husband had to inject me with progesterone and estradiol. He was a bit nervous, but did well for his first time. It did hurt a little and I can still feel it now where I was poked with the needle.

As for the three that were implanted, they said out of a score of 4, 1 being the most the best score, all three were 1.3!! Yayyy! My husband was a little worried about transferring 3, but the doctor said the chances of having triplets are very slim. After the transfer, which was painless, they gave us pictures of the ultrasound and our embryos! It was kinda funny, but very sweet.

The only complaint I have about my 5 day bed rest is that I don't like laying on my back. I am allowed to shift to my side to alleviate any discomfort, but it's still not the most comfortable position after awhile. Even as I am typing this, I am laying on my side. I suppose I will get really good at typing sideways. I look hilarious right now, but I'm BORED. I almost finished watching the DVDs I've brought upstairs with me.

Anyway, good luck nicaliw, cornbaby, and anie with your ETs! Let us know how it goes!! And I hope your time before the preg test goes by quickly as quickly as possible MagicMagin!

Morning ladies

I hope you are feeling better today Nicliw and Anie?

Hey Ann d what fabulous news and that's great to have some frosties as a back up... Well done...

How are you doing on your 2ww dream baby... Is it me or is it just the longest time ever?

I have just been looking at the progesterone pessaries and Duphaston tablets, do they mask any period pains? I'm feeling good that I have no cramps and I test next Saturday but wondered if period could sneak up on me with no warning? Any advice (except for not thinking about it as that is impossible as you know  )

Have a restful positive day everyone

Ann D.. that's great, you have so many good embies, Im very happy for you. Please send some good embryo vibes my way, I have been awake since 5am because I'm so anxious about the embryologist call this morning. I'm scared they're going to tell me something bad so I'm praying for good embryos. It seems like forever since I had an update on how they're doing. You must be ecstatic to have your little ones tucked away inside you. What a lovely thought. I am totally with you on the bed rest....it is SO boring. I had 8 weeks of bed rest with my first pregnancy and almost went out of my mind. Fortunately, this time is only a couple of days. I did things like paint by numbers (which I would never normally do)..ANYTHING to break up the long days.

Magic Megan, thanks for asking, yes I am feeling a lot better, I think I had some symptoms of OHSS cause my tummy got huge a felt tight but seems to have gone down now. Still sore though. I'm taking the progesterone pessaries too. My RE gives us the choice of 2 shots a day or 3 pessaries a day. I chose the less painful route.

Anie, I hope you are doing well, you and I are at the same stage. Let us know if you have your ET today?

Sending poisitive and good implantation vibes to all of you! :D :D
