Hey has anyone experienced ovarian hyperstimulation? It was our first cycle with ivf and after taking religiously synarel and gonel injections, the ultrasound on the tuesday before our friday egg pickup it was thought i had 20 eggs for collection. After waking up from theatre with the egg pick up my doctor told me i actually had 30+. I was in utter disbelief.. I have since been living in hell with the pain in my body, feels like i have been run over in the stomach by a car or something. I then found out Doctor cannot do the embryo transfer as of the risks associated with it. They will have to be frozen and put back in another month. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this or what am i going to expect with the frozen transfer? I am so emotional right now, in pain and anxious..
I totally can relate. We had our ER last month. I had 21 embryo's and 11 fertilized. We ended up freezing 3 and will FET in mid-December.
I became hyperstimulated and bleed through the entire stimming process, even during the ER. My uterine lining did not respond well with the drugs and my RE suggested to wait..
My RE told me not to worry-- he believes everything will go well with the FET.
My suggestion to you, is to relax and enjoy the time you have before the FET. Think positive thoughts and believe in the power of prayer!
Pls don't worry pincushion - OHSS can be a real pain (and dangerous if not monitored properly). YOur dr is right to postpone the transfer as it can get worse if you become preggers. I had 3 days in hospital with it on my first cycle - trust me it's not fun.
By suggesting a thaw cycle next time your risk will be minimised and your body will have time to recover before your embies are put back. Thaw cycles are much kinder on the body - and I just got my first BFP from a thaw cycle!
Good luck and keep in touch with your clinic if you feel nauseous, dizzy and generally unwell, then you will be fine.
31 eggs is great - you have a great chance of getting a good number of embies

i completely agree with angie...i had it severely too (although after ET), which was partly because i was preggers. i ended up in hospital for 10 days! its not fun but unfortunately there's not a lot you can do but to stick through it. make sure your doctors keep a close eye on you though!!
its definitely best (as angie said) that they freeze them because if its bad now and they do ET and it works, it will be even worst and potentially VERY dangerous for your health and nothing is worth that!
let us know how you get on and hope you start feeling better soon!!
angie - wow, nearly 7 weeks already!! congrats my dear! how you feeling??

My cousin just went through this in September. Due to OHSS she had to wait one month for a frozen transfer. She waited and is now 10 weeks pregnant. Be patient for a month and hopefully your outcome will be just like hers.
I had my first IVF/ICSI cycle July/Aug. They got 34 eggs and 23 fertilized. My symtoms of OHSS started immediately after ER. I ws in severe pain, had a hard time breathing and could barely walk. DH was very scared, so was I but I wanted to get to ET so bad I tried to convince myself I was OK. When I got to ET my RE said no go. I was completely crushed. But now I'm in my FET cycle and trying to think positive. 10 blasts froze successfully, my ET will be sometime after Thanksgiving. RE seems very postive this will work for me. Everything happens for a reason, good luck - Kendra
