I think the expectation is that they will be 2 cells by day following ER, 4 cells by day 2, 8 cells by day 3 etc......I don't know about your RE, it seems there are some many differences in practice by all the REs judging by what I have read here. Good luck to you, though!

There are some pictures of embryo development/timing here if you want to check it out. The whole website is actually quite interesting. Good luck!

Danyel,
As my RE told me, so long as they continue to develop you are in good shape. I had my ER on Saturday, on Sunday I got the call to tell me that 6 out of 10 had fertilized. Then yesterday they called to tell me that 4 of the 6 were 2-cell and 2 of the 6 were 4-cell. i asked how that was and they said that they were all fine. I started feeling really down because I thought that 2-cell embies were considered slow.

When I went in today for my ET we had 3 8-cell embryos - so one of the 2-cell embies caught up. It is hard to say how they are on day 2, i really think they will have a better idea on day 3. Hang in there!

And don't lose hope if you have a 3-day transfer. There are many many success stories from 3-day transfers!
