Hi Everyone,
I am feeling down this morning. Just got the call from the lab with my updated fertilization report. They told me that I still have 6 embryos but as of today (day 2) 4 are 2-cell and 2 are 4-cell. I did a quick search on the net and found that 2-cell are considered slow at this stage. Since it was our last chance with my eggs we were really hoping that we'd get 3 transferred and three frozen to try in a natural cycle if this one doesn't work. Now I even wonder whether we should freeze any of them. Man do I hate this.
Sorry no personals today, just feeling so lousy.

Hi

I've been reading this thread, as we were considering donor egg. After a recent IUI, DH and I decided to go forward with the DE treatment. So I want to drop in and say hi to everyone. I've talked to Jen B on a different thread. Hi Jen there..

While, here's a brief fertility history:

- Me 39, DH 40, ttc 3 years
- 3 natural pregnancies, all miscarried, last 2 was due to trisome 16
- attempted a PGD cycle, not enough fertilized eggs for PGD, converted to IVF, BFN
- 3-4 IUI cycles, all BFN

The reason we're going to egg donor now is even if I get pregnant with IUI, the chance of it being 'good' is not looking good. I really don't want to go through another miscarriage..

I had an initial consultation with the clinic's egg donor program coordinator. Currently we are looking at 6 month or longer wait for the donor. But she gave me a brocure of a local agency, X & Y consulting, encouraging me to contact them. Now after looking at their web site, I was happy to see there seems to be so many donors available. But I'm a litle overwhelmed with the info, not sure what should be top criteria. Mainly,

- Proven v.s. not proven, should it be important to choose to proven donor? But it then greatly reduces the number of donors availalble..

- How long is usually the wait after you decided on one?

Thanks in advance...

Judy

Am at work so this is a quick one.

Just wanted to say hi to Kelly. Try not to be so down, those grades are ok for only day 2. Remember you dont want them to develop to fast as this is not good either. Stay strong babe, thinking of you.

Judy - Welcome. Wow you have been through a lot, it is so tough eh but you have picked a great thread as the girls will give you so much support.
Can answer more questions for you when i am at home about donors, so fire away if you need help.

Six months for a donor seems long, where are you having treatment? I waited only a couple of weeks in Barcelona. I suppose a proven donor is better as you know it has worked for another couple but my Dr at IM said unproven one is good as she has not been over stimmed??? Dont seem to know the answer as lots of this ivf stuff seems to come down to luck and our bodies.

Am here if you need any info

Love Jen x

Hi :D

JenB- How you doing babe? Glad you are finaly having some time just you and DH. Its so good that you are starting to look ahead to your next tmt with your frosties, you and Jen could be having tmt together.{{{{{HUGS}}}}} xxx

Rebecca- Hope you are ok, its such a tough time. Look after yourself{{{{{HUGS}}}}} xxx

Kelly- Sorry you are feeling down about your embies, know that its not what you hoped for. Its such a rollercoaster ride, I have everything crossed for you hun xxx

Rebeccaj-Good to hear from you, so glad you and the twins are doing well. Take care and keep us updated xxx

Carolyn- CONGRATULATIONS on being PUPO! So happy for you babe, you've got 3 fantastic embies on board so there wont be any need for frosties! xxx

Lucy- Not long now, know how excited you must feel! Its so good to have something to focus on xxx

Jen1- Hope you are ok, sounds like you had a tough time over dinner. Hope all goes well on Wednedsay I'll be thinking of you, at least you've got the ball rolling and then after Xmas you can go back to Big B for your frosties. Take care babe xxx

Judyy- WELCOME, sounds like you've had a tough time. Are you here in the UK? Ive been on a waiting list for a donor here in uk for three years and still no way near getting one. Thats why we went to Spain for our last tmt, we only had to wait a month or so there. Good luck x

Know I havent been very good at posting lately and to be honest I think I could do with some time out. I am just finding it hard as we are in limbo and dont have anything to focus on.
After our last BFN we were going to go back for embryo donation when the adoption people phoned us about a little boy, we decided not to have tmt begining of October as we would find out about the little boy by the end of October but we still havent heard!!! I am upset now because we could have had tmt and who knows it could have worked?!? The IM girls know about all this but I didnt want to say anything on here until I knew what was happening but god only knows when that will be. So as you can see everything is up in the air:-
I have no idea when we will find out about the adoption
I have no idea when or if we will be able to have tmt again
I dont know what will happen with the bone marrow thing
and what to do about the ski holiday we had booked in Feb(there are 6 of us going then but if we have to cancel the others have said that they wont go either)

We are so pissed off that we have booked an early holiday, so we are off skiing to Lapland on the 9th Dec. I cant wait to get away as Carolyn said it will be good to blow the cobwebs away!
I will try and post but if I am MIA you now know why
Take care everyone
Lots of love
Gill xxx

Hi Friends!
JenB - I am thinking of you and hoping that you are feeling a bit better as each day passes. 2008 is going to be your lucky year!

Rhall - I hope that you are hanging in there. It is such a hard time for you now.

Jen1 - all the best with your adoption appointment. You've been through a rough time so hopefully this is a sign that things have made a turn for the better!

Gill - I am so sorry to hear about your state of limbo. I hope that you hear about the little boy!

Carolyn - congrats on your trips! Hope that you are resting well and that the next 2 weeks flies by!

BigJ - how are you doing? hope that your embies are doing well!!!

Judy - welcome! it sure sounds like you've had a rough go of it. We are all here for you!

Lucy - only a few more weeks until your first appointment! Hope the next few weeks fly by for you!

Well, we had our transfer today - they transferred all 6. We were joking that we have our hockey team (we are Canadian) on board!! I am feeling much more positive today. They transfer 2 8-cell grade 1 (one was already compacting), 1 8-cell grade 2, 1 5-cell grade 2, 1 4-cell grade 2 and 1 3-cell grade 2. So, at least we have a few in there that are in good shape!!! I am hoping and praying that this is lucky #8 for us! We'll be away on a holiday the week of our beta so hopefully we can be celebrating on our holiday!

Hope everyone is going really well!

Hi

Thank you for the warm welcome. We are in Arizona, U.S., and started looking for a donor through agents. A local agent we found, X & Y Consulting, was telling me that their average mature oocyte number is 12, which is much ower than I thought. Now I'm not sure if that's the norm? I was ready to go with a proven donor, who turned out only had 11 oocytes in the past. Maybe that's enough, but what scares me is I had 11 during my own IVF, but only 5 fertilized, 2 good ones..

Kelly - the number and quality of your embryos look great! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your success!

Jen B - Glad you are doing better. 08 will be a lucky year for all of us!

Hi to everyone else.. And have a great rest of week..

I AM BACK! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT. YOU ARE A SPECIAL GROUP OF LADIES. YOU REALLY ARE.

Image
Sorry to read about all you have been through. Sure that the girls here will give you lots of support. I asked a lot of questions about proven/unproven and was told that at my clinic (IM in Barcelona) that they see little difference in the results. I also asked about why not more ocylotes and was told that they don't like to over stimulate the girls especially when they are so young. That it is the quality of their genetic material which is much better than us more mature ladies! Good luck with your decision making. So many decisions

Image
For obvious reasons have thought of you a lot over the past few days. Hope that the TESA has gone well for your dh. Hope that yoyr back up donor did really well and that EC and ET will all go well for you. Big hugs. Cannot wait to hear your news and wait with you!

Anna - hope that Matthew has cleared his chest infection and is feeling better now.

Gill - so sorry babe that you are in the midst of all this limbo. It is great that you booked the holiday and that you can go away and have some time with your dh. You sound really organised already. Hope that you are going to hear about your little lad sooner rather than later. What a Xmas present that would be for you!

Rebecca - Love hearing about you and your twins. Glad that the m/s is starting to pass and you can really enjoy things. You are our lucky mascot. Just wish more of us could reach the other side with you

Lucy - less that 3 weeks until you go to IM. Understand you keeping busy. That is what I did to try to help pass the time. It will be here for you soon and then hopefully they will be able to get you started on your next AF

Rhall - Babe really hope that you are doing ok. Hope that you are taking good care and able to start recovering. Do you know what your next step will be or is it too early as yet?? Big hugs

Chriss - good luck with the iui. Certainly a good way to pass the time and hopefully then you'll not need to do IVF in December anyway. Let us know how it is going.

You have been so great at supporting me even though you have been down. Now it is my turn to pick you up! Fingers crossed that the meeting goes well today. It is good that you get this started as a PLan B whilst you await for your FET in the New Year

JB - brave brave lady. Going back to work already. Hats off to you. Thanks for all the support when you have been going through so much yourself. Now don't over do it at work and ensure that the other ladies give you all the support that you need. It is so good that you have snow babies waiting for you and you can go back their early in the New Year and collect them

Vicki - where is my fellow Hammer? Think that you were going back to see Mr Trew. Did that happen?? Have you heard anymore about when you can cycle babe??

Sonia - Hope that work is not too bad for you and you can fly under the radar and avoid all that travel  Think that you had a scan on Saturday. Hope that it all went well and you are right on track. Let us know

Image
WOW. Cannot believe that they let you put back 6 embies. That is amazing. We had a right talking to on putting back 3 and also forms to sign. Cannot believe that they let you put double that back. Different countries. Anyway, Welcome to the PUPO crew. What date do you test? We must be really close. How are you doing?

Kim - where are you babe? We miss you

Think that is everyone. Really sorry if I missed anyone.

I feel really quite odd. My dh just called and said that he feels deflated as he has gone back to work today. Guess that we looked forward to the visit for such a long time then it is weird when it is over with but we have no clue about the result. We had a really nice time in Barcelona despite all the stress. Great city. Weather was lovely and sunny. We went on a bus trip around the city, to the acquarium and to the Olympic stadium and museum. We ate lots of ice cream and tapas and sat in the sun.

Mike is much better now. Was really just bad for about 24/48 hours. He was brave.

I feel nothing at all. Cannot believe how it could work after all the disappointments of the past. Cannot believe how I will pick myself up again if it does not work. Very up and down already. Goodness only knows how I will be next week.   I am working from home ( ) for the next few days. Then the weekend Then the second week, I will go to work and will no doubt be mental by then!!!!

Thanks again for all your support. You really have been fab. Better get back to doing some real work.

Love to you all.
Carolyn

Carolyn, I couldn't have explained the way I feel today any better than you did. I am trying to stay positive but feel like this won't ever work for us. I guess I am trying to prepare myself for the worst because I don't know how I'll handle it if it doesn't work. It is a strange feeling. Usually the first week is fine for me and the second I am a mess, but this time I am not all that great in week 1 - makes me wonder how I'll be in week 2.

I guess my clinic decided to transfer all I had because I've transferred 4 before with no success, I've now done 7 fresh transfers and 3 out of 6 of my embies were considered slow. I too had to sign forms, but my RE recommended the transfer of all 6 so we didn't have to do any convincing.

Judy - all the best with sorting out the donor issue.

Well although i am back at work i am only doing minimum hours until jan.. work are so good to me. I did struggle a bit today and wass so tired after dreams of being preggy and mydocs being wrong. and then wakening up to find out it wasnt real and crying my heart out. I do feel better tonight tho.
DH and i have been really close but he is struggling now cos he thinks i should be snappin out of it a bit now  Basically be is busy at work and is feeling pulled in wanting to look after me and his stress at work. \i also have a lot of anger coming up ( part of the grief process) and he is getting the brunt of it with his pragmatic attitude...
he wanted us to go out with his work friends tonight for a boozy night. But i am just unable to handle that yet as one drink will have me in tears. never mind trying to create small talk with drunk people i dont really know. Just not ready for it yet.Which caused a few problems but ah well thats relationships taking the rough with the smoooth.
meeting a friend for luch tomorrow and then have a girly afternoon on friday with the neighbours...1 is 41wks preg now and the other 28wks so the baby talk will be a bit difficult. @ of my friends know about the loss so i may just tell everyone else too..see how i feel.
anyway of now for a bath as i am shattered...taking it all 1 day at a time...

love to you all
and baby dust to you girls on 2ww

Hi Girls

So today went well, the social worker was here for an hour and a half and was lovely. After many question and explaining the proceedure she said the next step was to go over what we had completed today with her colleagues, then decide if we will get accepted to apply and a an application form would be sent out to us. However at the end she said she will be sending one out straight away as we are fine. So that was good news, no waiting on that decision---lets hope it continues this way.

She said we have to do 6 months of assessment and she will put us down for training, which will start in Jan. She wasnt so negative about babies, as we though and said there are babies but usually from 6months old. The reason for this is the Panel have to make sure their are no birth relatives who can have the child and the mum and dad can go to court and fight, which can take some months but basically she said its the social workers who are on the permanance team who take so long to complete the family assessments----told you they are idiots

So the good news is, we have to fill out the massive application form, be appointed a resourse worker, start classes in Jan then should all be finished by May/June and can then be matched with a child as long as all the checks go well. She doesnt see anything being a problems due to the amount of experience we have and my work history. Plus the fact that we looked after my ex-keychild and deallt with him, all his issues and still have contact with him, is a bonus. She actually remembered we took him over the christmas period in 05.

SO HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE OUR LAST CHRISTMAS ALONE :?: :?:

Bet the bloody FET will work now-------that would be the icing on the cake.

Oh well, i feel happier after that meeting. Dont get me wrong i want my own child and want to have the experience of being pregnant and having a baby from birth but we might get a younger one, you never know.

Thanks for for all your kind wishes

Carolyn - We missed you babe. Hope you have your feet up, young lady and take those negative thoughts and throw them in the bin. Day 11 is going to be a breeze.

Jen - HUGS to you, hope work is not to bad for you. Its good you are keeping yourself busy but might be hard with preg people, don't push yourself to hard and leave if you feel yuck---have to put you first.

Gill - Counting the days until your hol, lucky thing. I am sure there is room in your case----ppllleeeaaazzzeee.

Vicki - What you up to, any news on the cycle?

Sonia - How did the scan go? Hope you ok.

Anna - How is that gorgeous bundle. Now the pumpkin outfit is out the window, you bought the santa one yet---looking forward to seeing that.

Judy - How you doing? As i said before, happy to give you more info if you want it.

Kim - Thinking of you, come back and tell us how you are soon.

Chris - How you doing, good luck with your iui.

ok Jenbabes, you caught me. You're right, I've been lurking and not posting about myself.

I've been logging in every day and reading your posts and catching up on all of you. I myself have onlybeen updating the list. But I am bummed and am finding it hard to communicate right now. This was supposed to be our IUI cycle, (a break from IVF until Dec.) But I have not ovualted this month and I am freaking out. I've never skipped a cycle. It just seems like a sign from above about how OLD I am. It's like cycle day 30 and still no ovulation. UGH. I go back in on Saturday to see what the deal is now. Who knows when I will be able to start IVF again. I guess we are not doing the IUI.

OK everyone, sorry for complaining. I feel like a loser especilly when many of you are going through your own struggles and grief. Thank goodness you all understand and I don't have to feel like a whiner.

Jenbabes, my husband always wants me to bounce back and be social with friends, but I totally know what you mean about the one drink causing tears and then not wanting to talk all the small talk business. We are going through so much, small talk just seems so trite.

Thanks to all of you ladies who have inquired about me. I am still here. CarolynB, excited for you. Kelly, thinking of you too. Judy, welcome. I'm sorry to all of you that I missed this time around. I am exhausted but just wanted to check in quickly before JenB catches me again! (Just joking Jen, glad that you notice when some of us are MIA) My love to you all and I will try to post more. -chriss
