hi Shell how are you doing?

I haven't been on for a while as I have been really busy at work (unfortunately). Hope you're not the size of a whale like me!! Slight exageration, but when I tell people I'm 27 weeks (well tomorrow) they throw their hands up in horror! I had someone ask me last week whether I had 8 weeks to go until the birth - she thought I was 32 weeks and not 26. However, I saw the midwife on Friday and she told me not to worry.

I got depressed again yesterday trying to find trousers to fit from a limited range in Dotty Perks and Mothercare! Anyway, I've borrowed someones Next catalogue and bought some jeans today - hope they fit!

Baby's kicking away now - it seems to like kicking my bladder, which is very uncomfortable. Sleeping is also very hard, but all in all I'm enjoying the experience. It's amazing how much love you feel for the baby even though it hasn't been born yet.

Anyway, look after yourself,

Alison xx
Hi Alison, sorry to leap into your thread, but although I don't come over this side all that often I thought I hadn't seen anything from you for a while. Glad to hear you're doing OK (if a little challenged in the fashion stakes!)

I've just started down-regging (again!) so hope to be on this side for good before Christmas!

Take care of yourself and your bump, love

(the other!) Alison x
Hi Alison

Nice to hear from you, I am getting so big its untrue. I can't believe on Thursday I will be 27wks but people say I look like I near enough ready to have baby. The thing is Alison like yourself I am finding it difficult to sleep on the night but I have waited for this moment for so long I am not going to complain now. The time does seem to be going quick and I am trying to buy bits and bobs for the nursery but still have a long way to go yet. Do you have any stretch marks yet? I brought some Avent cream but the stretch marks are there

I also feel the baby move but somedays more active then others and I worry then that something is wrong.

I am due to go to the midwife in a couple of weeks and can't believe I will be 28wks then. Has your belly button come out? mine asn't but its different to before.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Love
Shell.
26wks 4d pg
xx
Hi Alison - sorry for butting in

Good to hear you sounding really well, hope work gets a bit easier for you though - do you finish soon? I was having real probs getting trousers but found some good ones in H&M's - really comfy jeans and some stretchy black ones. The had some nice grey cords too, v comfy but i ran out of money!!! Now i've got trousers to fit i need stuff to fit over the bump - it's getting bigger by the day.

Unreal that we're all nearly 28 weeks - OMG, not long to go until we meet our babies.

Shell - my belly buttons like yours, def different but not popped out yet,

Take care everyone, lizzy xxx
Hi Lizzy

Nice to see your post, I was wondering about people's belly buttons. I have been waiting for mine to pop out but its staying put. My Mom keeps asking me if mine as popped out but I say it asn't and the old wives tales are if it comes out its a girl if it stays in its a boy. I've never heard this before but people who I ask who say there belly buttons did pop out do go on to have girls????

Love
Shell.
xx
Dear all,

No my belly button is still inverted!! If I lie on my back and breath out it starts to stick out a bit, but not all the time.

I cann't believe that it's nearly time now - the weeks seem to be flying by! I hear that once you get to the magic 28 weeks then if it's born early it will have a 95% of survival. A friend of a friend has just given birth 6 weeks early, but I think everything is okay.

Haven't got any stretch marks yet thankfully. Maybe I'm going to be lucky. I do however, have a lovely dark line which is progressing slowly towards my ever sagging boobies!!

As for work - I cannot wait until I go on maternity leave. I really don't have any enthusiasm any more! I'm due to leave on the 12th Dec, but since I have 5 days holiday, I've decided to do 4 day weeks from 7th Nov rather than have a whole week off. What about you lot? I've also decided to take the whole year off (assuming we can afford it) then after that - who knows, but I'd rather take a couple of years off.

Alison - I wish you all the best for this cycle. I did have a quick look on Sunday and saw you on there. I'm keeping everything crossed that this will be the one! It's just so wonderful when it works, but you don't stop worrying for the whole time - there's been so much sad news on this web-site recently. Are you still doing the acupuncture?

Anyway - must dash - my Next jeans have just arrived and I cann't wait to try them on!! I need to get out of my dad's M&S sweat pants (plus they are getting a bit tight round the middle now).

Bye for now,

Alison xxx
Hi Alison

I have also decided to leave on the 12th Dec, well my maternity leave offically starts from the 22nd Dec. I have a weeks holiday when I finish on the 12th Dec and then it all starts. I will be taking a year off because you do get so much pay for 6 months then the further 6 months you don't get pay but I really do want to spend as much time with my baby as possible.

I also have that brown line your on about Alison, and I do keep looking in the mirror. Finding it very difficult to get my socks on and off now lol hee hee.

I hope your jeans fit you, please let us know how it goes.

I did hear that once you get past 24 weeks your baby as a good chance of surviving but I just hope that I can go full term or near enough.

Love
Shell.
26wks 5d pg
xx
Hi All,
Not posted for a while as I've been so busy but glad everyone and their bumps are well if not getting larger! I seem to expand greatly in the afternoons and look pregnant, and just look fat in the mornings! I read on another site a cool way the girls measure their bunmps - each week they measure the bumps using loo roll then post how many complete sheets it takes to get round their bump and how many weeks they are! Think we should do it here!

I love George at Asda but only a few stores do maternity wear but it's quite trendy and very cheap, so I phoned up the central office and they told me of the nearest store that does maternity. Also heard that rubbing in almond oil and taking Vitamin e is good for stretchmarks.

Shell - I'm also hoping to take a full year off but might end up shoplifting chickens from Asda for the last 6 months!! I plan to finish around 20th December, and can't wait.

Let's do the bog roll thing next week!! love Sally xxx 24 weeks 4 days
Hi Sally

Lovely to see you post on site, I do wonder where you have got to when I don't see you post but glad to see your back. I have also heard that Asda do some nice maternity clothes and admittenly I do like the quality of there clothes. At present I am ok with my clothes that I have but I must admit the trousers I brought from DP's are getting a little uncomfortable again. The 30th of Dec will soon be here and the 12th of Dec will soon be here for me. I have someone coming from Abbey Blinds today to give me a quote of having to blinds put in the baby room to be and also in our bedroom and in the hallway so once I know when they are going to be fitted I can get them in to fit my carpet. I have already chose my carpet and paid a deposit on it so it isn't so bad. I phoned Toysrus yesterday because they do a babiesrus section and this is where I have seen my Mama's and Papa's cot and I asked if they keep them in stock and they said they do and they also keep the mattresses in stock too so I can get that as well soon. So when we going to have a go at this toilet roll thing then Sally? let me know and for a laugh I will have a go with you hee hee, up for anything me.
Anyway hope to hear from you soon, and lets see if anyone else is up for it too or is it just me & u that is mad.
Love
Shell.
26wks 6d pg
xx
Dear all, - welcome back Sally

The loo roll thing sounds fun - but will it really take 28 sheets to get round my bump? Not sure.

Looked again for stretch marks this morning - none found. Where are yours? on your legs or tummy?

As for buying things - we haven't even looked for anything yet. For some reason I still think it's tempting fate. Is this irrational? We need to start looking soon as otherwise I will be getting too tired and big to want to wander round for hours. Brighton's fairly limited, but we're off to my parent's in a couple of weeks near Leeds and they have a warehouse near them that sells prams / buggies, etc cheaper, so we may have a look then.

Alison xx
Hi Alison

How you doing today? I have got my stretchmarks on my belly and they are bright red and they are like a road atlas LOL. I was a little worried about buying things but I thought if I leave it and leave it then I won't get anything so I had to start.

It does sound fun with the loo roll but I dread to think how many sheets I will need ha ha but I will have a go at it if everyone else is just let me know when we are all up for it, I can start today if everyone else wants to.

Hope your all having a good day.

Love
Shell.
xx
Hi Sally

Like the idea about the loo rolls, hope DH doesn't catch me doing it though - he already thinks i'm nuts for swinging a needle over my bump to see if it's a boy or girl

OK - i did it, i'm 27w 4d and it took 8 sheets!! I think my bump is quite small though.

Shell - i'm finding it really difficult to bend over as well, hope you're ok today

Alison - took me ages to buy anything as i though it would be tempting fate but now i've started, i can't stop. Want to get most done befor i;m too hefty to get round the shops.

Take care everyone and get the loo rolls out!
Lizzy xxx
Hi Lizzy

Not doing very well to be honest today, I have had such terrible heartburn all day long. It's eased off now but I don't want to speak to soon incase it comes back.

Ok I have done the loo roll thing, went in the toilet at work, good job there's no camera's in there cus people would think I am losing the plot. Well I took 10 sheets of paper and I am 26wks 6d pg.

Come on can't wait to hear from everyone else.

Lizzy 8 sheets
Shell 10 sheets.

Whose next!! to join us mad people.

Love
Shell.xx
Hi all,

Just done the loo roll test (been off sick with a cold / lack of sleep since Thursday) - I took nearly 9 sheets and I'm 28 weeks today! Is this good?

Clothes - the Next jeans were a success and I spent rather a lot in Blooming Marvellous on Saturday. I bought 3 tops, some more jeans and a skirt! That should keep me happy for a while.

Lizzy - I find it difficult to put shoes and socks on now! I agree with you about buying things now rather than leaving until you're enormous, but we haven't quite got round to it yet. I'm going round collecting things from friends now, so we'll wait until we've done that to see what there's left to buy.

Take care,

Alison xx
