progestrone shots

Post by carolina1girl1 »

i am 9 weeks pregnant and my ob/gyn wants me to stay on the progestrone shots until 14 weeks. for everyone that also takes them do you take them at the same time everyday? i have been taking them at 8:00 pm but dh works swing shift and it is getting hard to find someone to give me the shots when he is on nights. would it hurt to change it up? he only works 7 nights a month so it won't be all the time..

Hey Carolina Girl -

I was in the same boat, my DH works evenings and it's difficult to maintain that schedule. My dr switched my meds to Endometrin, (vaginal inserts) which I do myself, twice a day. Don't know if that's an option for you... I know it was a nice break from the injections.

I'm 6w1d and have been told I will be on this med until Dec 17 (10w).

Good luck.

I was to be on progesterone until 12 weeks unless my OBGYN was able to hear the heartbeat with a doppler then we could stop. We were able to stop at around 11 weeks when I went in for my appointment. However my regular obgyn told me that if he were to keep me on the progesterone that we would switch me to either pills or those vaginal inserts if I had to stay on it... maybe it wouldn't hurt to ask about it....

good luck!!

How's your little one doing? I believe you were on the sept./ oct cycle buddies forum...

My RE said that it is good to do at the same time every night BUT if you can't it is OK as long as it is within 3 hours of the normal time.

Have you tried giving to yourself? I do that when my husband can't give to me.

I always tried to give my shots around the same time of day when possible, sometimes I was out by an hour or so.

Why not try to do the shots yourself, my DH never gave any shots to me, in fact he would walk out the room when I did it. I hate needles, but after doing the 1st one, I realised it was just so easy to do, after 5 attempts at IVF I was even beginning to enjoy them...how sad is that. I still miss the routine of it.
