went for e/t today. Wasn't so bad... I had 2 embryos to transfer. One was 6 cells and the other was 8 cells. They were rated "A" which was the best/ for symmetry of cells it was rated fair (good is best and poor is worst). They like to see 6 or 8 cells and "A" or a "B" and either good or fair. Now starts the hard part--waiting for pregnancy test.
That's absolutely wonderful kbat!!!!! Congratulations!!! When are you testing?
Tomorrow is my 5th day of bedrest, and I am finally going to get up tomorrow evening and go to a night class. I am looking forward to not being on the couch anymore!

Hello Everyone,
I just came from my consultation with the RE. We are going to give the drugs some time to wash from my system, and start an antagonist protocol in January.
She said everything seems to point to diminished ovarian reserve, and not taking b/c pills or Lupron, could make a difference. This is pretty much our last ditch effort. I am hoping and believing that the third time will be the charm.
We have a wonderful, healthy 14 year old son, I always have wanted to give him a sibling, and My Dh and I were so young when we had him, we would love to experience it all again.
I am hoping and praying all my cycle buddies have BFP's to report within the next 14 days! Hopefully, mine will come in January.
alittlegrace--
I've been told that I have low ovarian reserve. I don't respond great to the drugs--I don't get tons of eggs like some of the others do & I generally have been on them for about 14 days. But knock on wood I've never had a cycle cancelled either. Since I've been at this clinic (for cycles #4 & #5), I haven't taken b/c pills at all. This last one I didn't take lupron either--started off w/ clomid and gonal-f and then also had ganarelix. I was on the meds for about 10 days total-a little less than usual. Right away on my 1st u/s, they said there were 2 pretty good size ones and one a little smaller. In the end, they only got 2, but I am pretty optomistic b/c the clinic seemed to think they looked good (i.e. hardly any fragmentation, dividing correctly, etc.) They said that sometimes they collect a bunch from someone and that they may end up w/ 2.
Also, did I mention that I did acupuncture? I found it very relaxing. I am thinking that this could be the reason why maybe they were growing a little faster and maybe why they were better "quality." From a quality standpoint I can't tell you if it was better than before b/c clinic #1 never gave me a "rating" on the embryos and they always did a day 2 transfer, so they saw how they divided into day #3. I can tell you that cycle #3 I go no fertilization and cycle #4, they didn't divide correctly. So who knows, maybe acupuncture does help?? I think it was a good idea even if I get a bfn because in the end, I think it helped me at least have a chance to do e/t. Good luck to you!!!
Kbat,
Thanks for sharing your story; I asked my Re what she thought about acupuncture and she said it does not hurt to try, even though there is no conclusive scientific evidence that it works. I am thinking I might give it a go. I have about 6 weeks until I begin, so I am going to do anything possible to rid myself of stress. I am hoping and praying things work out for you. You have been through several cycles, so I say, it's your turn!
my nurse said the same thing--that there's no evidence that proves it works & that they don't adovacate it, but then the main office where all the procedures are done has an acupuntrist that goes there. I went to my own. I am not saying that it definately works, but I think it helped. There are studies out there done on very limited patients that seem to indicate it can help (do google search for infertility and acupuncture). Also do a search on this message board. I really looked into before deciding to do as it wasn't covered by my insurance and would be an added expense. If you decide to do it, just make sure you go to one who does inferility as part of their "practice."
I go in for the test in about a week--on Monday Nov. 26. I thought I may be testing about 12 days after the transfer, which would be Sat, Nov.24, but maybe w/ holiday they are putting it off until that Monday. 1st week went pretty quickly. Decided to start decorating for Christmas. W/ Thanksgiving I think it'll go fast. Funny thing is that I should be getting my period on about Friday Nov. 23. I think the progest. may delay that though. 1st two times I had a transfer got period before the testing---the 1st time about 3 days ahead of time and the 2nd time the day before. So, maybe I'll have an idea even before going in.
Thanks alittlegrace! I was so surprised, but so happy. I did a lot of things differently this time, most of which were suggestions from this site. My first u/s is one week from today. I know that we will hear good news from you in January!!!
Hang in there kbat - less than a week now until your beta! How are you feeling?
p.s. I didn't do acupuncture either.... due to both the money and the fact that I HATE HATE HATE needles and couldn't stand the thought of more of them!

Just waiting to due pregnancy test on Monday. I am very regular w/ my period (about every 27-29 days. Friday is day 28), so I may know before then. My 1st 2 IVF cycles I had normal regular flow about 3 days before test. I am very crampy last night and today. Kind of feels like cramps I get in beginning of AF. Also get pimples just before hand and woke up this morning w/ some new pimples.) I am a little "nervous" about it since I am really wanting it to work. But if I get AF today or tomorrow, at least it'll brace me for the bad news. Hoping it'll pass though.
I had cramps on and off before my first beta... felt like AF was coming. So maybe it's a good sign! I still just have a small crampy feeling.
I didn't POAS, and I think you're being smart to just watch for AF... that will tell you either way how it's going. I know it will be good news for you on Monday!!!!!!!

Do you think the progesterone will delay your period? I'm usually 28 days but last month i was 26 days. Today I am at 27 days. I have my first Beta on Saturday, the 24. I'm so worried that I will start my period tomorrow morning. I have been cramping but i usually don't cramp before my period. I do have a new zit on my forehead but I'm hoping it's because I'm worried. Does anyone know if the progesterone will do anything different to your period? Happy Thanksgiving!
