Has anyone heard of a BLEB on the nipple from nursing? I think it's what I have on both of my nipples and they are so painful. We have a local breastfeeding center and I was told about it on the phone (I googled it to read about it). It's basically a clogged duct/pore on the outside of the nipple (not internally in the breast which can cause mastitis) that gets filled with milk which dries. It can be either whitish or yellowish in color and it looks like a small blister.
I have 5 week old twins and my daughter's latch has not been great since day one. I'm also getting over a yeast issue (but they did not/do not have thrush) which I am treating homeopathically and medically. I guess the BLEB can be caused by inefficient nursing/bad latch and yeast, to name a few things.
I nursed my son for 21 months (he's almost 6) and thought I'd try to nurse these two for at least a year. I am on the verge of giving up and I REALLY don't want to, but I am in pain at every feeding, and I cry at least once or twice a day during a feeding. I take Motrin every night (because all pain seems worse at night) and am not crazy about doing so.
If anyone has had a BLEB, please let me know (PM is fine or post a reply). We're having a tough time with the babies with other issues (I just wrote a post about raging) and if I could just not be in pain 24/7 it would make things a little easier to handle. I don't like feeding them...which I do eight times a day...and I resent myself for feeling like that, but truthfully bottle feeding two by myself is not easy and I really just want to nurse them. Any advice would be great.
Again, sorry to be such a downer...
