I did get your pm about RI clinics. I attempted to respond on Thurs, but it didn't look like it got sent (probably operator error). I tried resending other one, so hopefully, you will get it. IF not let me know, I will resend it.

Well, AF arrived this morning which is typical when I get BFN. The painful part (well, other than the bfn itself) is that I still have to go into the clinic for blood work and get the call to tell me that it is bfn. Oh well, I suppose I should be used to it now.

My DH and I have decided to try donor eggs now so we'll be jetting off to Czech Republic for that sometime in early 2008. Gosh, I sure hope that is the solution to the baby dream of ours!

kellym--
so sorry to hear that you got AF. :( I can relate b/c this is #5 for me. Both #1 and #2 I got AF well before the pregnancy test. I would still have to go in for the testing and the ladies would seem so cheery and say wow this is the day for your pregnancy test-we'll hope for the best. I usually would say I got AF like 3 days ago...I know it's so disappointing, but I always said well at least I can brace myself--but it wasn't usually a comfort.

good luck w/ donor eggs

I am so sorry Rosebaby - I totally understand the disappointment. Do you know what you'll do next? Have they given you any insight into why this might not be working? Hang in there, this dream of ours will happen!!!

OK it's a little after 4 pm and still no call. I am getting a little nervous because the first cycle I did w/ this clinic the nurse forgot to call me back to tell me there would be no e/t--she thought the doctor would call me. So now is when my worry wart personality starts to come out. Ever since then I get paranoid when I don't get a call. After she forgot to call me she said that she usually gets her calls in by 4 p.m. so if I don't get a call by 5, then I will start paging someone I guess.... But now I am wondering if it's a bfn and she thought a doctor would call me to tell me? I figure I would give her another hour since it was extremely busy this morning when I was there and I am just hoping that she's behind in her calls. This is why this is my last cycle--can't take the no call backs.

I'll let you all know as soon as I know.

OK--I didn't really get an answer today... I was told that my beta was 2.8. I was told that normally that anything under 5 was considered negative. However, the nurse said something about putting in everything we had so they start at 0 (didn't really make sense to me), so I am supposed to take the progestrone for 2 more nights and go back on Wed to see where I am at on Wed morning. So in the end they really couldn't tell me if I am pregnant or not pregnant. This is driving me CRAZY!!! I am at the point I just want to know either way.....

kbat that is very frustrating! I was also told that anything under 5 was considered negative but Grace had a beta of 7 and it kept increasing so she is definitely pregnant. Why is 5 the cutoff? I would think that if it is 0 then nothing is happening and if it is anything other than 0 something must be happening. The beta has to grow from 0 so maybe yours is just starting.
As usual, more waiting!!! This whole process is about waiting...right?
Best of luck on Wednesday!

Kbat, I posted on the other thread too, but Kelly is right - my first beta was a 7, and it quadrupled, and then two days later they made me take another beta and it quadrupled again. Then they left me alone! My first u/s is on Wednesday so I am sure hoping for good news. I would take a maybe over a BFN anytime, let me tell you. When the nurse called, she said "I need to discuss your beta results" and I thought, well at least there's something to talk about this time!!

I can't remember if you did a 3 day or 5 day transfer, but generally a 5 day results in a lower beta (my RE did a study on this). Just a note of encouragement...

Thanks for the words of encouragement kellym and grace35. I did a day 3 transfer.... I actually got preganant once naturally, but it ended in m/c after about 8-9 weeks. I am not really sure why 5 is the cutoff to be honest w/ you. But I suppose it's better than just a BFN!!! I am hoping for the best....

Well, I didn't get the optomistic news as I hoped.... My beta numbers did double to 5.69. However, I was cautioned that when the numbers start out this low, it means either an etopic pregnancy or that it's not going to be a viable pregnancy. So, while it seems like I am probably pregnant, the nurse did not seem exactly positive that it will go anywhere :( . I have to go back on Friday to see how it's going, but I am kind of bummed out by this new news.

kbat, don't lose hope, my clinic have recorded a live birth from a beta of 3 before. It is very rare but does happen, the good news is it did double and that is what they are looking for. Please keep the PMA and i will be checinkg in to see how your doing.

Thanks beachbaby--
My first beta number was a little below 3. I am not totally given up hope. I know the nurse is just trying to be realistic, so I don't get up my hopes up. Not much I can do until Friday. I guess it starts to be a concern when the beta numbers either plateau and/or go down. Once they plateau or go down, they let nature take it's course.... The one pregnancy I ended up in miscarriage. I just hope that whatever happens, I will know sooner than later. We are going away the week before Christmas and we are hosting Christmas Eve, so I would want to know what's going on before then. But then mother nature takes its own course....
