Egg Question

Post by DJB »

Hi everyone...I'm new to this board and new to the infertility process. I'm 41 and this is my 2nd month attempting AI. First, month was not a go due to 1 egg only 7mm on day 12. No positive on ovulation test. Today went for 12th day sonogram had 3 eggs (one 8mm, one 11mm and one 16mm) lining looked great. Doctor said he believes this month will be a go naturally with no drugs but if I don't show a positive ovulation stick by day 14/15 to call and they would give me some type of medication to trigger ovulation. My question is how big do eggs need to be to be "good quality" eggs. Funny thing about this cycle is normally by day 12 I have some "signs" of ovulation this month so far I don't. I was shocked to hear the results today. Any information about the size of eggs please let me know I'm very interested to find out what is the size determination.

Thanks!!! Wishing everyone luck on their process!!!!!!

Hi DJB :)
Welcome, you've found a great place to ask all your questions and get all the support your need.
I'm currently in the 2ww after my 6th iui. Like you my first cycle (medicated) was cancelled as I didn't ovulate. My other cycles have all been with either comid tabs or menopur injections. I go for scans every few days to measure the follies. I start using ovulation tests when the largest is 14mm and if no positive by 18mm then they give hcg trigger shot and do the iui about 24 hours later. Only one cycle did I get a positive opk. You may well find that the 2 smaller follies shrink back and just the 16mm goes on to ovulate.
I wish you all the luck with your iui. Let us know how you get on

Thank you so much for replying. I hope you are doing well!!!!! I see you had BFP on your November try if I read the abbreviation thread correctly that means you are PREGNANT!!!!! Congratulations!

I ended up showing a positive OPK stick yesterday morning and had IUI this morning. So this is my 1st IUI attempt no mediciation. Have you ever heard of anyone being successful on their 1st try?

Hi DJB
Yes I got a faint positive on a home pregnancy test this morning so am on a high at the moment (hence posting here at gone midnight - I can't sleep).
Congrats on getting your iui, did it go ok? I think its quite rare to work first time but it does happen. I've got everything crossed for you. I hope the 2ww (2 week wait) isn't too bad for you. I always fin the last 3 - 4 days the worst. Keep positive and try to relax, I'm sure that's what made the difference for me this time.
Good luck
