I am looking for an IVF buddie I started my gonal yesterday and should do my retrival somewhere in the first week of December.
I was on BC for 3 weeks and started lupron injections two weeks ago. Yesterday I injected 225 of gonal and dropped to 5 units of lupron.
Anyone that I can share with and maybe we can go through the 2 ww together?
Hoping and praying for a GREAT cycle,
Brenda
I started Lupron on November 10 and Follistim on Thanksgiving. I am scheduled for retrieval on December 3 or 4 depending on labs and ultrasounds in the coming days. I've been watching the board hoping that someone would post that they are in the same place as me. So far I'm feeling feeling pretty good. Have you been through this before?
I am also sch for retrival either the 3 or 4 th of December depending on how everything is looking. I did a fresh IVF cycle in March of 06 transfered 4 wonderful embryos got a BFP pregnant with twins lost one and had my wonderful daughter 5 weeks early in Nov of 06 (she just turned 1 year old) I did a frozen cycle transfered 5 embies 9/07 BFP in 10/07 and was a Chemical pregnancy stopped my meds 1 week later. So I am off to another fresh cycle and praying that it works out for us. I will be 38 years old on December 2 and very worried about the whole age factor.
When do you go for your next ultrasound and Est. level? I go tomorrow morning so we'll see what happens.
Hi Ladies - not sure if you are aware but on general forum there is a thread with lots of other people having treatment in November/December - i am sure you will find lots of support there!
I go in for u/s and b/w tomorrow morning at 7:30. I will have had 4 days of 250 IU of Follistim along with 10 IU of Lupron before I go in tomorrow. I think on my baseline u/s which happened to be on day 3, I had 6 small follies. But my RE was mildly concerned that the Lupron was causing my endometriomas to grow slightly. They are not large enough to be of too much concern or to need surgical removal, but she contemplated briefly keeping me on an additional week of Lupron before starting stimulation. I know it sounds stupid, but I was so disappointed because I wanted a BFP for Christmas. But fortunately, when she looked at my b/w I guess she thought it was ok to go ahead with the stimulation meds so I started those Thanksgiving eve. I have tentative appointments for 11/29, 30, 12/1 depending on how tomorrow goes, I guess.
You are so blessed to have your daughter. I am glad to be in contact with someone who has benefitted from this process.
I'm doing fine with all of the SQ injections but am nervous about the Progesterone in oil. Did you do injections the first or second time? It was my choice to do the IM injections instead of the suppositories because I have done those on/off for the better part of 2 years and I'm sick of them. And that was when I only had to do them once at bedtime...I couldn't deal with three times a day. Just don't know if I'll be able to position myself to do them alone (my DH and I work opposite schedules so I'll be on my own for several days a week). I suppose other people do it, so I'll just have to suck it up.
Anyway, Brenda, keep me posted.
And to makena7111, good luck in Feb. The SQ shots aren't difficult or terribly painful, don't know yet about progesterone. I'm not sure if I'm feeling side effects to be honest as I have some congestion and can't decide if it's Lupron headaches or sinuses.
Went in for my (3 day on gonal) scan I had 3 follies on left and 3 on right said to continue with 225 units of gonal for the next two nights and go back for a scan on Wed. My E2 level was 387 or 337 nurse could not read the fax. She said that I will grow more follies in the next couple of days. I hope so that worries me that there are only 6 right now.
How did your appointment go? How many follies did you have and what were your E2 #'s?
Hi Brenda
I'm not positive but it was something like 8 or 9 follies between the two ovaries. It's kind of distracting on the u/s with my endometriomas because they have to search for the follicles in between the cysts so I sometimes lose count. I think the largest was 12mm and the smallest 5mm. RE said everything looked great. I don't know my estradiol levels. I acually asked this morning what my levels looked like on my previous labwork from last Wednesday and the nurse told me that the actual number doesn't matter just as long as the numbers increase from day to day with the growth of the follicles. So I guess it isn't common practice for them to give the estradiol levels during the process. We have a phone tree system that I call after 4pm to retrieve a message stating my med doses and next appointment time so I don't actually get a live phone call where I can ask questions about lab results.
I think you'll be fine with 6 follies. How big were they? I would think that you would still grow more new ones at this point just like they said. And even if you don't, it only takes one right? I wouldn't worry too much. I'm hoping to grow more myself, so let's both keep our fingers and toes crossed. I'm supposed to take 250 of Follistim tonight, Tues and Wed and next appointment on Thursday morning. Are you feeling any side effects from your meds? I have felt waves of nausea and a ton of hot flashes the last day or so. Nothing major though. I'm also battling a head cold which kind of stinks.
I'm pretty new here and just noticed your post. I just started my 2nd cycle of IVF. The first time, they stopped because my levels were low and didn't improve.
I just had my 2nd unltrasound today and bloodtest. My levels are still low, but showed improvement so my doctor let me decide if I wanted to continue. So, I'm trying to stay positive that it will work. How are you guys doing?

Welcome Phoebe!
Where exactly are you in your second cycle? Are you taking meds now? This whole process is a delicate balance between keeping your hopes up but not letting them get too high for fear of disappointment. All you can do is try until you can't try anymore and hope for the best. Hopefully everything will continue to move along as planned. Let us know what your tentative plans are for this cycle so we can all keep track. Glad you joined us.
Hi ladies! I just wanted to tell you all to try not to worry and be positive. I was worried sick last night because I didn't have as many follies as I wanted and some were lagging behind the others and then we went back today (one day later!) and there was a huge difference in just a day! Some of the 13 mm ones grew to over 16 and the 16's became 20's. Anyway, keep up the positive thoughts as it is amazing what can happen. I am scheduled for ER on Wed! We are doing our trigger shot tonight...little nervous about that!
Anyway, good luck to you all and I wish you all the best!!!

I started gonal F and menopur on the 22nd. I don't know how much...I mix 3 gonal F in the morning and 2 gonal F and 1 menopur in the evening. That plus lupron morning and evening. I had 2 ultrasounds and blood tests. I go back on Wednesday. I'm hoping that I make progress. If my blood levels are low, they might stop the cycle.

Tina~ Thanks for the positive vibes. Try to do something nice for yourself before ER on Wednesday... mani/pedi or massage. Anything to keep yourself relaxed and in a good frame of mind. Good luck.
Phoebe~ So assuming your b/w shows improving values, you should be on about the same schedule for ER as Brenda and myself. Just like Tina said...try to think positive. Hopefully everything will work out the way you want.
As for me, I'm just going to continue to go through my box of Puffs and hope this cold goes away and that I can get some rest before my big day next week. Not sleeping too well and can't decide if it's the cold, nerves or maybe the meds? Probably a combo of all three.
How are you feeling with the meds? My lower ab is starting to get a little tender. I am also 37 will be 38 on Sunday. What has your RE said about your age? What chance of pregnancy rate did he give you? I also didn't know what the difference between your meds and mine were, I have only ever been on gonal for both IVF and IUI. Do you go in tomorrow for ultrasound and blood work? Let me know what they said follies and E2 level. I'll email tomorrow after RE calls later in the day. Keep me posted
Brenda
Hey Brenda:
I've started feeling a bunch of twinges in both ovaries. No soreness from the shots. I'm turning 38 on 12/22 so we're not far off. My RE wasn't as focused on age as I was, not that it wasn't a factor, but she didn't feel as if it was a huge problem right yet.
I think your meds are pretty much the same stuff as mine, just a different brand. Follistim comes in a pen so I just have to dial up my dose and inject. I'll do Ovridel for my HCG trigger shot whenever they decide that should be. I'll try to find out what my E2s are. Like I said, they only leave me a phone message that I call in to retrieve my med dosage and next appointment time so I don't actually speak to anyone. But my next appointment isn't until Thursday morning. Good luck tomorrow. Hopefully you'll have more than 6 follies.
