I'm glad you asked this question, Neeve. I was wondering about this. I am 6w1d and can't wear any of my regular pants except sweats with drawstrings! I measured my tummy and was amazed at how big it is so soon.

I had pretty active ovaries (17 embryos retrieved) and my nurse said part of the size is due to the increased estrogen and lack of a rest for the ovaries.

Good luck to you and Melinda too!! :)

Neeve,

Unfortunately I can relate to having an abdomen the size of a whale's. I just got my BFP yesterday (beta = 204) and my stomach is giant. Do you have OHSS at all? That's what's causing my abdominal distention--mostly b/c my ovaries are the size of oranges (as opposed to almonds, which they should be). Are you having discomfort/pain, etc., or just the bloating?

Congrats on your BFP it is so great!!! Well I am now past 6 weeks and it is definitley not getting any better I am still swollen then I think mayby it is water retention. I did not have OHSS a very easy treatment this time so obviously this is just the way we react to pregnancy. I think go with the flow on this one but I must admit it can be quite uncomfortable not pain but very tight. Hope you are feeling well.

Congrats again Neeve xx

Thanks for your congrats, Neeve. It's so strange and exciting to be pregnant for the first time in my life. Strange too to think I went so long doing everything I could do AVOID sperm, ha ha. Glad to hear you do not have OHSS. It is really uncomfortable and a little scary. Thankfully I only have a mild-moderate case. Maybe you are bloated because your body is storing fluids, etc. Try drinking a ton of water every day.

I got my second beta yesterday (12dp3dt). It was 511. The doctor said he is very happy with the way everything's looking. I am thrilled, of course, but anxious about the possiblilty of twins. So next Tuesday I get another beta and then in 1 week or so I go for the ultrasound.

Congrats to you on your pregnancy as well...hang in there with the bloating. Soon enough it will be a real bump!

Hey ladies,
I'm 6 weeks now and have the same belly distention that makes me look 3 months along. Awkward only because I have yet to tell my boss. Anyway, did your bellies go down if so when?

Hi lostgirl first of all congratulations great to hear of your good news. In answer to your question no I started showing immediately of course this was the bloating. I am now nearly 4 months and all the swelling has gone down and now I have a very clear bump. I dont look as swollen but I do look very pregnant. I put on 5 kilos which is about 11 pounds in the first trimester but I have stabelised now and I am starting to feel great. Everyone is different and in our case we show very early. We have waited for this moment for a long time so enjoy.

Congrats again

I am glad to see this post, I am on my 2WW, test on Saturday 2/2 and my belly is HUGE! Not just high or low but all around, hard and a bit tender. Not like AF bloating where it is soft. I really looks like a 4 month bump! When I eat, I have to lie down after. I am glad to see that I am not the only one! Hopefully it is a sign of BFP!!! :D
Congratulations girls!
