Hi Gracie, Chriss and everyone else who soon will undergo transferring this week - bed rest is not something anyone can say anything about. If you feel like staying in bed, staying in bed, if you feel like cooking, cooking - whatever you feel like doing. I would not go skiing or rock climbing for sure, other than that, I would do anything that relaxes me. In my instruction sheet, the only two things that you can not do are skiing and rock climbing, seriously, as if the REs already knew what we liked! Anyway, no sex, either, for you all, girls, for another two weeks.

Chriss, did your drs suggest you some blood thinning medications? I would do at least baby aspirin.

Sufficient blood supply in the reproductive organs is important for implantation and support the growth of your embryos. So, light exercise, such as walking, is good after three days post ET.

Other than that, just patiently wait for 2 week to go by. I hate the waiting, but it is also hopeful and exciting, right? Fingers crossed for you all!

Strange thing is that I am feeling like that "I" am the one going though the 2ww again. I do care and I believe everyone reading this post also does. See, ladies, go get some positives for us to celebrate with the holiday season all together!

Gracie, good luck tomorrow. I've heard that a week of best rest is unnecessary! My clinic says 24 hrs. After that moderation is the key. Take Yasmina's advice, do what helps you to relax. Personally, I took the day after retrieval easy... movies, books all on the couch. After that I moved around and acted normally. Just didn't exert myself too much. Did gentle walks and stayed away from my usual exercise regimine for the 2ww. What have you done in the past? And... thanks for the positive message. I'll be thinking of Christina.

Yasmina, yes, I've been on baby aspirin for quite a while now. Thanks for looking out for me. I've been already eating some pineapple too. I was wondering what you thought about yoga after ER and ET. I enjoy it so much, but I'm not sure about doing it right now. WHat do you think?

Andrea, you do sound good! It's amazing how personalities can come through over message boards, huh? I am surprised how quickly things are moving for me also. This time around, the follicles are developing more quickly. I've been on the stimms half as long. Strange. they say each time is different. Thanks for the water advice, I'll keep drinking!
Thinking good thoughts for you.

JB, I know you are busy with your sis. Hope you are having fun.

Hi Amy, DJB, tammy and all others. Looking forward to your posts.

Everyone, I brag about you fine ladies all the time to my friends and family. I feel soooooo lucky to have found you. -chriss
P.S. Do any of you guys take off from work the day after retrieval? I have felt sore after and just wondering about the rest of you. I definately take off the day after transfer, but just wondering what you all do. Thanks

GRACIE & CHRISS
My clinic stressed 24 hrs "bedrest" following ET. They considered sitting up in bed, reading, watching TV, etc. to be bedrest. Though there seems to be no conclusive proof bedrest is necessary, why take a chance? Beyond that, they recommended nothing strenuous & no intercourse during the 2WW. I was able to do moderate activity, walking, light lifting, etc. It's my understanding moderate exercise is fine, within reason. You do not want your body temperature to rise much & you should monitor your heart rate; it shouldn't be as high as pre-pregnancy workouts. I tried to stick with low-impact activity too as it just seemed to make sense to me. My embryologist told me implantation usually occurs around 6 dp ER. I had a 5dt so 24 hrs bedrest was theoretically long enough to allow implantation to occur. Of course, sometimes implantation occurs later, so it certainly isn't an exact science. If you have a 3dt you may want to do a little more bedrest. Of course, we all know good & well that nobody does bedrest following natural conception, so go figure. :? Just consider yourself pregnant when making decisions about what you are going to do/not do. Eat fresh pineapple, get plenty of R & R, try not to stress too much, & join me on the BFP list soon! :D

Anna, I posted something about baby eating and weaning at the topic that you started a while ago, hope it helps.

LuAnne, "just consider that you are pg", best advice, ever! Go natural, is the key.

Chriss, no, I did not do yoga after ET and during the first trimester. I resumed light postures after that, but stopped when the body got too big, entering the 3rd tri, i believe. I swam, 2~3 times/wk, 1KM each time during the whole 8 months - except the 2ww. I agree with you about this thread, I could not have made it through the nine months pg so smoothly without this big family.

Amy, about the thyroid hormone thing, Yoga is quite helpful, too - here is a good link to it, http://www.holisticonline.com/Yoga/hol_ ... houlst.htm

OK, will have a busy weekend. Will check back next Tuesday! Good luck, ladies.

Hello all,

Andrea – great to hear that you’ve made such a big step forward and are feeling very positive about setting off on your new journey with DE. And DH is with you on this too! Wishing you all the best for your upcoming DE treatment!

Amy – you’ve waited so long to get the OK to start the cycle so I can imagine how disappointed you must be. But you’ll be more relaxed knowing that everything is really OK when you start off. Will you be taking meds in the meantime? Fingers crossed for you that you can join us next month. Hope the holiday season will help time fly by for you… Big hugs xxx

Gracielope – Well done! Great results and things are looking good. How are you? Like Yasmina and Chriss say, concentrate on doing things that help you relax. After ET I only rested for one day. I was back at work after that so it was hard but at least my mind was distracted.

Chriss – Great to hear that you are getting on so well in your cycle. GOOD LUCK for ER and keep drinking. Thinking of you.

Catharine – all the best to you. Have my fingers crossed that the results of your next test will be good and you’ll be moving forward soon. Keep us posted.

Hi to DJB – how are you getting on? Take care of yourself.

JenB – hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend with your sis. Sorry to hear how much your DH has been struggling emotionally with the downs of all the IVF cycles. Sounds like you and DH have a lot to think about together and I really feel for you. But your frosties will wait for you so… take your time, see how your feelings develop and when the time comes, you’ll emerge with new strength to go in whatever direction is right for you. Thinking of you.

Yasmina – thanks for being around with your wonderful words of wisdom.

LuAnne – So glad to hear that you and the twins are doing well. Thank you for keeping us posted and for your tips on the weeks leading up to ET. It motivated me to make some new acupuncture appointments and keep up my yoga at home too.

Thanks for your words of encouragement and support everyone – it’s really keeping me going. I do hope you are right about things falling into place being a good sign.
After stopping the Cyclo-Progynova, AF arrived as predicted. So as of today I’m officially on my transfer cycle. I’m sort of relieved but can’t really get too excited about it at the moment so instead I’m getting excited for those who will be on the 2ww very soon…

Keep up the positive thinking everyone. I’ll never forget that fantastic wave of BFPs for Anna, Bev, Yasmina and Tammy within just a few weeks last year on this thread. We do need some more on our list so here’s to an exciting year 2008 with BFPs for us all !!!

Hello to BigJ, Tammy, Anna, Kat, Bev and anyone that I may have missed

I’ll try and catch up again soon..

to gracie & chriss - wishing you both all the best for a relaxing 2ww! You are off to a wonderful start! looking forward to reading about your BFP's very soon! keep drinking! (water, that is)

to sonix- hope to hear you'll be travelling soon for er/et! lots of luck to you!

yasmina and luanne - thanks so much for your concrete and inspiring words of wisdom and useful tips! it is wonderful to have such support from you both who have been successful with this process. thank you again.

thanks to yasmina for that yoga link. Yoga is something I had been doing and then stopped about 2 years ago when I had my fibroids removed and never got back to it - which is too bad, because I really liked how I felt after each session was over. time to go back, I think!

my thyroid problem was discovered about a year ago, when I started my IVF journey. I've been on medication for it ever since and am monitored every 3 months and depending on the level, the medication is adjusted. Why it is at the level it is now, I have no idea...but I'll go back in January to have it checked again, because it takes about 6 weeks for the new dosage to take effect...I can only imagine it will be Feb or March at the earliest before I can cycle again...till then I'm planning on enjoying the holidays with my friends and family and my meds will just stay chilled till I'm ready to use them!

all the best wishes to everyone I've not personally said hello to!! thinking of you all!

Amy: Before you know it the holidays will be over and you will be starting a fresh cycle. Let us know what is going on with your thyroid. I have high prolactin that I take meds for, and it fluctuates up and down as well.

Chriss: Wishing your embryos are the best! Good luck on your retrieval. You said transfer will be on Friday – so you’re having 3d just like we did. Does your clinic do 5 day as well?

Yasmina & Luanne – I 2nd that! It IS really nice that you both stick around. It’s so inspirational! Your encouragement means more than you will ever know. :)

Sonia: thanks for your kinds words.

DJB: Any news?

JenB: How was your weekend?

Hi to everyone else that I’ve missed!

ET was Saturday. We ended up transferring 6 embryos, one Grade 1.3 or something like that and the rest were Grade 2. It’s funny how we had 6 that were good enough to transfer out of the 13. RE said he has never transferred 6 embryos and he let us know that he wasn’t too happy about doing so. He said they were good embryos, and he hoped that we wouldn’t get multiples, I don’t think we will. Hey! We will be happy if one attaches. :P

I’m a little anxious, and nervous, and I’m trying so hard not to be. I don’t want to worry about every little thing. But your mind really does play tricks on you. You know. Like, today I had to run a little for the bus, because I was a little late for work. Once on the bus, I was like. Oh my Gosh, I shouldn’t have run. I lifted a chair the other day to set the table, and I was all stressed because I lifted a chair. This is going to be a long 2WW wait, that’s for sure!

Thanks to everyone on this forum. Your kind words, mean so much!

DJB: Any news?

Nope I'm in the dreaded 2ww I should know something around Tues of next week. If I don't break down earlier and buy a pregnancy test since the suspense is killing me....LOL. My breasts are sore but I guess that could be PMS too. Thanks so much for asking!!!!

DJB: You will find out next Tuesday and I will find out next Wednesday - we are one day apart. Try holding off on taking the HPT test, you will only get stressed out more. I'm going to try really hard. Best of Luck to You! :)

I went for the blood work today to check my progesterone levels. I have no symptoms, but I'm not going to focus on that this time around. I had sore boobs before my transfer, and I knew that I wasn't pregnant. So, I'm just going to have to wait it out. One more week to go!

Yasmina: When you transferred six embroys - please don't mind me asking you. But what were the grade?

Chriss: How did your retrieval go? We are cheering on your little embroys!

Amy? What type of protocol are going to be on? Does RE start you with BC?

Hi all, Happy Wednesday. They retrieved 8 eggs yesterday, 6 were mature and all 6 fertilized. Now we wait.

Gracie, my clinic does both 3 day & 5 day transfers. The lab makes the decision based on embryo quality & quantity. They don't make that decision until they look at embryos on day 3. If someone is only going to transfer 1 or 2 embryos and they have a bunch of good embryos, the lab will go to day 5 to see which ones are best to put back in and also so that they can freeze extras. In my case, we are planning to put 4 back in, so the liklihood of me being a 5 day transfer is very low. Is that how your clinic works?

Everyone, what do you know about sperm testing? My DH has low count, poor morphology, etc. We always do ICSI. I've been reading a little bit about sperm fragmentation and we kinda figure his is pretty high. This usually causes a problem after day three I've read. Even highly fragmented sperm can fertilize an egg. So we are wondering if he should have further testing. Our clinic does not recommend it becasue they say that the treatment is ICSI anyway. My DH and I are wondering if we should pursue the testing any way. Maybe we should be using DS. UGH. I can't stand all this "Wait and See" kinda thinking. If there is something we can do, I want to do it. Do any of you know anything about this subject?

Best wishes for you both Gracie & DJB! I am a week behind you two.

Enjoy the day everyone! -chriss

Gracie,

all my embryos were mostly grade A (at least 4 of them), but grading system is different among different clinics. My embryologist is one of the famous ones in the country and he runs the lab which is good at embryo handling. Anyway, I wasn't too worried about multiples since the 4 embryos they transferred the first time were also grade A, mostly, yet I ended up BFN. But my eggs were 43 years old, they may look good, some of them must have had defects that we could not see. The RE normally make decisions based their experience on you and on your history. If you had done 4 with no success, 6 should be a good number.

Chriss,

I did ICSI and the decision was made without my consent since I had 25 eggs collected, they didn't have enough sperms for them.

DJB, good luck.

Yasmina

Yasmina: Thanks for getting back to me. Wow! you had a lot of embroys, and you had good quality ones too. :P

I think going with 6 was a good thing too. The last 4 times we had good eggs, not Grade A, but we had B's and it didn't work. I heard it has a lot to do with the way the place the embroys too.

Only time will tell.
