I am new to this board (you can read more about me on the Introduction forum).
I will be starting my 2nd IVF cycle next month and am very excited!
One thing I am very worried about are the shots. In my my 1st IVF the SQ shots hurt so bad. I read somewhere that if you are thin you shouldn't administer them in the abdomen. Has anyone else experienced VERY painful abdomen shots?
Other than that I am just waiting for AF (around 12/15) so I can start BCP!
I am looking forward to posting here and reading everyone else's experiences.
I'm starting my first iVF next month (I started taking bcp today!!), so I can't give you any advise/response. However, I want to invite you to a thread we have for us ladies in the Dec/January 2008 bunch
There are some really nice folks in that thread to share stories with, and the best of all is that we are all going through the same thing at the same time.

Hi I am just nearing my 2ww on my first ivf ..i too was very nervous about shots......the sub ones were very easy.......i am also very lean (played pro tennis).........so i really dont think you will have a problem..
I on the other hand just started the PIO ones last night and my butt is killing me...I even heated the oil.....so I am fuguring what to do tonight I am soo sore.....
I left the new most IMPORTANT thing...ice the crap out of the area before hand.....you will be totally numb and rotate shots from abs to thigh that way you will only hit the same area every other day or sooooo
good luck let me know how you make out..just remember ice is your friend
Mia- if the stomach hurts too much use your thigh. It's easiest to do sitting down, b/c the fat bunches up. Not the top/front of your thigh, but the outside (where most of us get some stretch marks, except for you since your still lean )
Also, you can request emla cream from your dr. It's a numbing cream that works really well, I used it when I got my belly button pierced (looks like I'll be taking that out in a few months!) You just need to put it on about 20 min before your shot. Good luck!
Yeah, I am not looking forward to the Progesterone shots! My BIL is a dr, so I might have him administer those (Dh is too much of a wimp, and i couldn't give it to myself). During my 1st IVF I had the progesterone suppositories - painless, but messy and immobilizing since I had to lay down for an hour each night. WHy don't REs in US just prescribes these?
Star - I will try the ice this time. Last time I was overseas and they don't have ice there. I will also try it in my leg. My last RE said the stomache is better - the medicine works better so that is why I did it.
And I have lots of strech marks from my growth spurts!
