Feels like a cold coming on....

I know its unavoidable in this weather, at work, on the train, everyone seems to have a cold. Well today I felt really shit when I woke up and didnt go to work. I think I have a cold coming on. Bit worried tho because someone said to me that if you get a cold its not very good for the baby, so of couse, now I am worrying.... is this right, what shall I do? Tracy xx 5 weeks today

Trace Whoever told you that needs a clip round the earhole! Having a cold won't affect your baby at all - even if you were to have something like food poisening, your baby is protected, even at an early stage. The only thing a cold will do when your pregnant is make you feel crappier than you would do normally if you had a cold, because you feel more tired and a bit grotty anyway and you can't take a lot for it, whereas normally you'd be knocking back the pills and a hot toddy or ten! All you can do is take it easy and if you need to, take a paracetamol and have an early night. Hope you soon feel better! Love Rachel x

I agreed with Rachel, who ever said that needs to butt out. You will hear so much rubbish and horry stories, just try to ignore them. I had a very bad cold about 2 weeks after 2ww, but only took paracetamol and drank lots of water and had early nights. And we are fine.... Oh thank you Rachel and Wibbs I feel so relieved now. I really cant help worrying, I wish I didnt but its taken such a long time to get here and I want everyone to go right and work out well. Thanks for your support, im sure i'll be on here again worrying about something else.... got 9 months of it to come. Love Tracy x

Trace, I was just like you when I got my cold and I thought how about the baby but let me advise you that the baby will be fine. I didn't take any painkillers but what I did do I went to the shop and brought some lemon juice and some pure honey and 3 times a day I done a hot honey and lemon and it really helped me. All the way through my pregnancy I have not had any painkillers the only thing I have had is Gaviscon. Hope you will be feeling better soon. Love Shell. 29wks 1d pg xx
