Hi Everyone-

Dexter- Welcome! Glad to have you on our thread and congratulations! As far as the baby asprin thing goes. I had to take mine till they could measure the heartbeats. After that I was told to stop.

Jayne- No the tb thing is not why I have to go on bedrest. I have to do bedrest b/c that is the dr's policy on multiple births. Since the risk of prelabor is high they bedrest women at 26 weeks.

Vicky- Thanks for the reassurance about the xray. I'm going to wait till my second trimester that's what the radiologist tole me to do.

I'm feeling much better today. The congestions is subsiding. The boobs aren't sore too much anymore. Now if only I had energy!

I was just reading about the baby aspirin and wondering why they have some of us take it? Is it just prophylaxis to prevent clotting because of the high levels of estrogen and progesterone?? I'm still taking the baby aspirin daily but not sure why. BTW, my estrogen is 1100+ and my progesterone is 40.....sound kinda high? No wonder I'm an emotional wreck!

I'm a bit down right now. I have beens spotting for the past 2 days and have already had a little this morning. Its brown (old) blood and I know a lot of people spot but it just doesn't feel good. Is anyone else having a hard time really relaxing and enjoying the pregnancy? I'm so terrified that I'll let go and become excited and then I'll miscarry.


Welcome Dexter! Congratulations! My due date is also 7/31, so we match! Personally, I don't know how people wait so long to tell everyone about being pregnant. I can't contain that kind of news, I told everyone right away. Now that I'm spotting I kind of regret not waiting til the 6 week scan.

Vicky, I know how you feel about wanting symptoms. Sounds like you've had more symptoms than I have. I know its crazy but I'd love to get some nausea and loss of appetite like I did when I was pegnant with my son. My friend just reminded me though that every pregnancy is different, so maybe I won't get so much nausea this time.

Sorry, if I'm sounding a little negative.....its just that I'm feeling a little down that I am spotting etc. I'll spring back!

HI all! Just wanted to join the board and say hello!

My husband and I just finished our first IVF cycle, and it was sucessful so far. We are 6 weeks and 3 days =)
Our transfer date was November 12th, and so far so good.

We are having our first scan on December 11th, so we are anxious. We had two embryo's transfered, and two frozen.


First Beta level was 66 (8 days post transfer) and second was 1128 (14 days post tranfer).

Nicliw, aw hun i'm sorry your feeling down, but try not to worry too much, spotting is very common in us IVF ladies, and brown is old. I have had 2 occasions with red spotting on top of brown but so little and no more after that my clinic are not worried at all. does not help my sanity.

beachbaby, thanks for your words of encouragment. The spotting seems to have gone away and I actually have no cramping at all since they reduced my progesterone dose. Phew.

I'm very sad tonight. I started cramping and bleeding quite a lot today. My nurse told me to go the the ER. They did an ultrasound which showed one gestational sac with contents (no heartbeat, too early). I'm very confused because they said the embryo had implanted well and high in the uterus but here I am still bleeding and cramping. I don't know how to feel. I was devastated but they said its not over so I am confused. I don't mean to bring everyone down, I just need to talk about it and writing it down actually helps quite a bit.

Thanks Hope, I appreicate your kindness.

So, an update......the bleeding and cramping have stopped. My nurse told me to continue with my meds as normal and they will do my 6 week US next Monday, as planned, unless I have more heavy bleeding before then. So, I'm really not sure now what is going to happen. I have some hope left cause the one embryo in there measured right for dates and is imlanted well and nice and high in the uterus. I wonder if there was a 2nd embryo that I lost yesterday. I guess I'll fond out soon.

Nicaliw....I wouldn't be so concerned about the spotting (yeah right!!, and look who's talking!!), anyway, what I am trying to say is that most of the time it means nothing, that is why the RE's don't worry too much when we tell them we are spotting, because it is soo common. So hang in there, most probably everything will be ok!!

Hi Kristi and welcome!!!.....those betas seem really good!!. Good luck in your scan, I bet you can't wait to see how many you got there!!. Keep us posted!!

Well girls, I am soooo happy today!!! I just came from the OB, I had a scan today, and the baby was great!!!!!!, he/she was measuring 3cm, right on track for 10wks, he was even moving!!!!!!!. The HB was 194, so everything is looking good!!.........ohhh and I am off bedrest!!! woohoooooooooooooo (but of course, still pelvic rest, which means no sex, no exercise, etc etc, but at least I can be on my feet again!!!)

Hello all, sorry I've not posted for a while, have been super busy. That’s me at 6 weeks and 1 day today, only a week and 2 days until my scan, can’t wait!

Nicaliw, I’m so sorry to hear about your bleeding. Remember that lots of girls bleed, some all the way through pregnancy. My friend did and so did my mother in law when carrying DH and they both had healthy babes. It is too early for a heartbeat so you’ll just have to sit tight. Look after yourself. Thinking of you. How are you today?

Vicky, congrats on your great scan and being off the bedrest! That’s great news. Can’t believe you saw the baby moving, how exciting!

Dexter, I remember you from January I think when I was an occasional poster on my first attempt. I’m sorry you’ve had such a hard journey and really hope that this is the one for you. We’re at about the same stage, I have my scan on the same day as you and am due on 28th July. Will be nice to share the journey.

Hi Kristi, you too are close to me in due date. It’s nice that there’s more of us at the end of July, was playing catch up before!

Shantell, you say you were like me with the bloating, etc at the beginning. Mine’s still terrible, did yours ease off at all? I’m dying to get back into my jeans but am forced to wear baggy clothes and loose dresses all the time just now! So annoying.

Hi to everyone else, hope you’re all doing great.

Does anyone know if swimming is a good idea or not in the first trimester? I’m usually a gym bird but haven’t been since before the retrieval. I’m now just walking but fancy swimming but only if there’s absolutely no risk – it’s just taken so long getting here!

Here’s another one for you all – I’ve read that we should avoid underwired bras as our boobs are changing and growing, is anyone following this advice? I don’t fancy going out to buy new bras yet but all mine are underwired. I’ve gone up a bra size already but have bras I can wear from when I was a little heavier. Hmmm.

Well I’m feeling ok, still queasy but not terrible and I’m absolutely exhausted now. I work from home part of the week and am finding it so hard to motivate myself to do any work at all! I hadn’t been sleeping well at all but have slept through the night for the last 2 nights (hooray!) but am still sleepy. Like the rest of you though I like my symptoms! Ha ha, imagine liking feeling sick and sleepy all the time.

Jul1e, thanks for the encouraging words, it really helps to hear others had a good outcome after bleeding. Sorry I don't have any advice in return about bras and swimming. I had been wondering about exercise, too (obviously not now since I'm on bed rest). I was going to ask my RE if we can swim and do prenatal yoga or if it is different with an IVF pregnancy. I'll be watching to see what you find out. Congrats on the sleep! I can't remember the last time I didn't have to get up at least twice to go pee in the night. Not complaining though.

Hi Vicky, I'm so happy everything is going so well for you. I used to read your posts while I was stimming for this cycle and watched you and your cycle buddies go through your 2ww. I remember you had issues with bleeding, so thats fantastic that it all turned out well in the end.

My bleeding has stayed away. I'm not doing much of anything. I'm staying pretty neutral....not happy, not sad.....just waiting. Please hang in there little embaby!

Vicky - Hi there! Congrats on the scan! I bet you are so happy you don't have to be on bed rest. I had my OB appt yesterday and things went great. I am measuring exactly to the day!!!! I go back in 2 weeks for my testing (can't think of the name but starts with an N). I will pretty much be out of my first trimester.

Jul1e - My OB yesterday said that swimming was the ONLY exercise that she recommends. She also told me that the reason I am so bloated is because I have a huge cyst on my ovary on top of everything else. She said it is pretty common with IVF patients though and it will go away on its own.
