the boys are home

Hi all Thanks so much for all your well wishes over the last few weeks! We finally brought our boys home last Thursday after 3 weeks in SCBU. They've both put on just over a pound in weight and are doing really, really well. The is the first time I've logged onto the site for about 5 weeks now so I'm completely out of touch with what's going on. Thanks to Traci for updating you and congrats to Kirsty, RLV and Mags. If I've missed any other new deliveries, apologies, I'll read through the site properly soon! I hope all pregnancies and cycles are going well! Life is a bit hectic at the moment, as you can imagine. We've gone from leaving the house at 9am every day so spend the day in SCBU, getting home about 8pm. Now we're lucky if we leave the bedroom after the rounds of nappy changing and feeding! Autumn has well and truly passed us by!! Little Harvey is still only just 4lb so we're not taking him out yet so we're all cocooned up in the house. Wouldn't change it for the world!!

will hopefully start catching up with you all again soon! Jules, Nicky - when does it all start to get a bit easier? I keep on hearing the magic dates of 6 weeks or 3 months. What miracuously happens then??

Hi Helen, Many many congratulations on having Max and Harvey home - such lovely names! How are you feeling?? Never mind Autumn, there's Christmas to look forward to and probably tons of pressies! I only log on when I manage to grab a spare moment, so loads has changed on the board - what seems really scary is how quickly time is passing - I remember putting my name right at the bottom of Shell's roll call, now it's getting closer to the top and there's thanksfully tons of new people with positives who've come over to this side! Love to you and your new family, Sally (26 + 4!!!)

Helen, I am so glad your all home and I bet your enjoying every minute of it. I hope all continues to go well and stay in touch. There as been a few more positives over this side recently so you will probably see alot more new faces but its great. Luv Shell. 28wks 5d pg xx

Hi Helen! It's great to hear that Max and Harvey are home. Am I right in thinking that you were looking at Frimley Park as a possibility for giving birth? There is an article in the latest TAMBA mag about a couple who have twins called Max and Harvey and she gave birth at Frimley Park. Yes it does get easier. I'd say that once you're able to get out and about with the boys, it'll make quite a difference. I found that our daily walks broke up the day and gave me a bit of respite from feeding/changing. And it did get easier from 6 weeks. For a start, that's when Charlotte started sleeping through the night (obviously your two will take a bit longer, and she was very early to sleep through). But also it was when they became more alert and started to be able to occupy themselves under the play gym while I was looking after the other one. Oh Helen This is so exciting. I read your post (and Jules) and just can't wait. I've spent the last few weeks wondering how on earth I'm going to cope with twins and you are living proof that it is possible. Hi Helen Glad to hear you've got your little boys home safe & sound. It's definately hard work with these twins isn't it?!! I think I've only been on this site once since I got home with my girls 4 weeks ago! We'll have to get in touch and compare notes??? Take care, Luv Rachel X

Hi I was reading your message and I just wanted to tell you that it does get easier. I have 6 month old triplet girls and they are just great. It was extremely hard at first and the sleep deprivation was awful, but 12 weeks was a turning point and they now usually sleep from 7.30pm to about 6.30am. They are now rolling over and 2 of them got their first tooth today and it was brilliant - it definately is hard work, but I get 3 times the smiles and laughs!! Helen, Once again congratulations.....it must be such a relief to get them home as I know the trecking back and forth to the SCBU really takes it out of you. Mind you we were in a panic when we first got them home and those first few weeks as you get into your own routine are really hard. Ross was also 4lb when we got him home and as it was warmer I got into the routine of a daily walk really quickly. I really must agree with Jules though about that daily walk. It builds your confidence in getitng them out and about and nothing can beat all the admiring looks and strangers coming up to talk about your beautiful babies. We took alternate nights so that every second night at least one of us got some sleep and we did follow the basics of the contented Baby book (gotta love Gina Ford) although it was a wee bit regimented for us. At about 12 weeks we too got into that wonderful sleeping pattern and although it feels like you have been sleep deprived forever I can't believe it is such a distant memory now. We also found that as soon as they were big enough we got them in Grobags (I think they do smaller sizes now) as it stops them kicking off blankets and keeps them at a steady temp. even when you take them out for a feed.
