Sorry I've been out of the loop lately. Here's my latest update. As you all know, I experienced some severe suprapubic pain Saturday morning and my doctors said to take Percocet and put on a heating pad and to call them back if no improvement or if it got worse. So, I rested and was still doubled over in pain so i called them. They wanted me to go to the emergency room to rule out ovarian torsion (twisted ovary). So I went to the emergency room, had an IV started where they gave me IV dilaudid for pain and phenergan for nausea. They did an ultrasound and found the ovaries to be in good condition. They noted a small amount of fluid around them that they attribute to some leaking from the endometrioma cysts. But everything else looked good all considered. They wanted to be safe and to make sure that I was able to keep my pain under control so they admitted me to the hospital. I had pretty steady "bloated" type of pain all over my abdomen but the sharp pains were relieved by the dilaudid. The fate of the egg retrieval on Tuesday was to be determined by how I responded during the hospitalization. The only hold up from their perspective was if I couldn't tolerate the pain.
They told me there was a chance I'd have more pain after the trigger shot but that if I was willing to take a chance, there was no danger in trying. So I decided I'd try to tough it out and went ahead and did the Ovridel Sunday night at 10pm. They kept me in the hospital Saturday and Sunday night and I got discharged today around 3pm. I went right from the hospital to my clinic and had one final ultrasound. The doctor was so excited with how everything looked. She said that at this point I have 10 follies that are mature most of them begin 18-22mm and some assorted smaller 13-15mm. The lining of my uterus looked great so she was really hopeful that we would have great success tomorrow. So, I go in for retrieval at 8am Tuesday.
I can't believe that all of us are going the same day. That is soooo awesome. My spirts were really dashed when all of this happened Saturday but my DH has been by my side the whole time helping me through it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get through ER and that my body doesn't freak out so that we can have ET on Friday. If I'm in too much pain, they'll more than likely freeze embryos and try when my ovaries settle down. But they are thinking that once they deflate all the follicles, that my pain might subside.
Sorry this is such a long post but that's what happens when you don't have access to a computer for two days. Hope everyone else is well and good luck to us all tomorrow. Thanks for all the well wishes.
