cervix widening

Post by higgins237 »

Hi everyone! This is my 1st time posting and I'm about to begin my 1st journey down the IVF road. I'm scared to death but also excited. Next Thurs I have to have a procedure to widen my cervix......apparently my cervix is narrow and they are concerned about the transfer so I get to have this wonderful experience of having my cervix widened. My question, anyone else ever have his done? Is it painful and what should I expect? I have my first Lupron injection on the 12th and I'm looking at the week of Jan 7th for procedure week.....I am 37 and have never been pregnant and haven't ever done any infertility treatments, so I'm really a newbie and am looking forward to making new IVF friends. I welcome any info and/or advice about the journey my husband and I are about to experience.

Sounds painful. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I have an unusually small cervical opening despite already having one baby but my RE said it wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't. If they'll let you take some ibuprofen before that would help. Good luck.

Hi All....

Post by higgins237 »

Thanks everyone for being supportive.....the procedure actually went pretty well today. I have to say I was a wreck all morning until they knocked me out. The IV was terrible but overall I'm doing well. Some cramping and some bleeding but it wasn't as bad as what I had anticipated. They said the retrieval should be pretty similiar to what I experienced today, I guess I can handle that. Again, thanks for the thoughts I really appreciate it. Have a great evening.
