New and doing IVF

Post by arossi »

Hi my name is Angela and I live in Dallas Texas. My husband and I have been ttc for almost 6 years. I have endometriosis and lost my first tube when I was 18 (I'm 27 now). Almost two years ago I became pregnant on Mother's Day and two days later found out it was a tubal. My tube ruptured and emergency surgery was perform. My only option of conception is IVF. I have been researching many facilities in my area. My husband and I are looking to start IVF in January if we can find the right facility for us. My insurance covers a lifetime maximum of $25K for fertility treatment and testing with a lifetime maximum of $5K. I'm so nervous about all of this. what if it doesn't work? I want to be a mother so bad and have so many thoughts going through my head. What if I choose the wrong doctor?

Does anyone live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and know of a good doctor or fertility clinic? Any suggestions would be great... also once I find a doctor, where do I start???

Hi Angela!

I don't know of any RE in DFW - (I live in SA). But just do your research. Make sure the RE is board certified and take a look at their success rates. Do your hwk - there is tons of info online. Once you make an appt if the RE feels you should go straight to IVF he will most likely have you wait until AF and then put you on birth control pills for 2-3 weeks and then you will start injections.

You are so lucky to have health ins that covers IVF! That's great! Good luck!

Angela, I used to live in Dallas but didn't need/want an RE back then. I would suggest asking your OB and also checking www.babycenter.com. They have groups in different states that post and they can probably lead you in the right direction. And if I had to guess, I would assume that a good RE would probably be associated with Presbyterian Hospital.

Check babycenter.com. They have a thread for everything, just search under bulletin boards. It might take a little looking since they changed the interface, but it's there! If you can't find it, I'll check in after work and see if I can find the link for that particular thread.

Good luck!

(I'm in the middle of IVF, hopefully having a retrieval early next week. The only scary part is the "will it work", like you mentioned. Just pray for guidance and peace and hang on!

hello Angela ,
I am in Dallas area . I see Dr James Douglas and I think he is one of the best . He has his own office opposite med center of plano . Dr Barnett at presby plano , I have heard is also good and I have heard good reviews about Dr Goldstein . But keep in mind that only 2 or 3 places offer shared dreams which is where u pay a fixed amount for upto 3 tries . Good luck .
