20 week scan - a little girl!!!!!

Post by Jo Locker »

Hi everybody, just to let you know I've just returned from the 20-week scan and we are going to have a daughter which is absolutely fantastic. We are thrilled - to see her little face and see her moving and turning over was amazing (as some of you know of course)

Been grinning like a bit of an idiot since - truly wouldn't have minded whether a boy or a girl but its the best thing to know that everything looks OK so far!!!

Love to you all and your bumps - Jo. XXXX

ps: also, at least me and my DH neednt have the argument about the name "Boris" which he was getting worryingly attached to for a boy!!
Congratulations - so what's the chosen name?

I know some people say you spoil the surprise by finding out, but personally, we're thrilled to know what we're having (a boy!) because in the weeks since we've known, we both feel we've bonded with him and chat to him and also from a practical point of view it really helps (and means that all the lists I write can be 100% accurate!!). I don't think anything coujld possibly take away the amazingness (or whatever the word is!) of seeing your baby for the first time anyway, so im all for it!

Lots of love

Rachel
x

hi Jo

This is fab news, you must be sooooo excited! I'm with Rachel on wanting to know and I think it does help you bond. Besides it gives you the next 20 weeks to decide what to call him/her. Have you decided on any girls names yet??? We have zillions of favourite girls names but can't agree on a single boys name. We may need 20 weeks to think of two boys names!!

Its just so exciting. Life is so different on this side of the board. We get to talk about much nicer things. We are all so lucky!!

Love nikola.xx

Hi Jo,

I am glad that everything went well with your scan and I bet your over the moon that your having a little girl. In one way I would of liked to of know what I am having but I have waited for this moment for so long to be pregnant so I can wait a little longer. Something tells me I have having a little girl but Lee thinks I am having a little boy but to be honest we only have 11wks to find out.
Shell.
xx

Hi girls, thanks for your messages. Hi Becky, yes the doppler has been absolutely wonderful I wouldnt be without it - it has given us comfort so many times when you just get little niggles of doubt - we only use it perhaps once per week just for a few seconds and I recommend anyone to use one.

With regard to knowing our baby is a girl I think its really helped us to feel closer to her - when we're talking we say "she'll do this or be like that" it just feels really real BUT I completely understand people who dont want to know too - its just personal choice, like names ...........

........names, hmmmmmmmm, difficult - I must admit I'm always thinking of different combinations, whether to include a family name or just give her a totally new name (which I think we'll do). So far we like: Alice, Jane, Rachel, Ruby, and lots more. I'd be glad to hear everyone else's favourites so I can steal them if they're ones we havent thought of !!!!!

Hope you're all well and bumps are progressing - with lots of Love, Jo. XXX

Hi Jo,
Just seen your news as I hadn't been on the board much. A little girl! How lovely - there are so many lovely little dresses!!!

So pleased for you - I definitely wanted to know, although everyone I knew, including myself and DH were convinced BOB is a boy, so I had to find out just to be sure - and everyone was right - he is a boy! IN one way I would have liked not to find out until the birth, but we were having so much of a trauma choosing names it helped to narrow things down! My favourite names had he been a girl were Tabitha, Amber, Delta and Scarlett if you like any of them, but we're pretty much decided on Jay for a boy, but we also quite liked Felix but have now rejected that!!! (I have a really long surname so we need to choose a short one!).

What is everyone else thinking of (in case I can use for inspiration!!!)

Rachel - I live my life by lists but am having real trouble finding suitable hospital, baby at home etc lists - please can you post your lists for inspiration!!!

love to all,
SAlly (27 + 5)
Me - severe endo, DH - poor sperm. First IVF ICSI Nov 02 neg. Second IVF/ICSI May 03 Positive.
Miracle baby Jay born on 27th January 04

Wow, A little girl - fantastic! I agree with you about relating more, she sounds so muuch better than 'it'!! and at least you only have to narrow it down to girls names and not boys names too...It's amazing though how many people don't want to know and you have to remember who you're talking to and think about what's being said! lol. I really liked Lily Kate for a girl, whilst my dh liked Abbie - at we know we don't have to argue on that one!
Anyway, take care
Zoe x
