Welcome MP! I think we will have to give you a nickname, ideas anyone?? This is definately the thread for anyone who wants to focus on the more superficial aspects of IVF...glad to see you are following the golden rule of the sisterhood which is to look hot during IVF...I mean it's usually downhill looks wise after IVF so you may as well enjoy your looks while they last right?

Angie, good on you for the highlights but sorry to hear that they are not withstanding the barrage of grey, so difficult and not cheap either. In hindsight I wish I had done my hair during preg... I can honestly say that I have never had uglier photos taken of me than the delivery room ones. Freaking hideous, don't do it to poor wombat....

Tina or should I say Thriller, thanks for the laugh I cackled enormously at the thought of you in a mask at the hairdresser. I think you should pretend to be an eccentric celebrity with your mask on. But why stop at a mask, why not have a full breathing apparatus, borrow one from your local firestation...

Thanks for your feedback on Rio, I will keep it as a name, I like it and that should be all that matters. Yep DH is spanish, but strangely my MIL has never provided me with any Tamales. This will have to be investigated. BTW i'm not sure if I passed on the news to the sisters that MIL's cancer is non active now, yipee! Pity she's developed a deep vein thrombosis but oh well it's better than cancer...

Congrats on your HPTs things are looking good, I'm so pleased for you. It's so nice to see two lines instead of one huh??

Jenn and Vicky how are you two going??? sorry to hear about the crap weather Jenn, it's pretty steamy over here, my hair will be going nice and frizzy soon, oh well it will suit my new frumpy housewife image.

Sassy, what's happening with the diet, please inspire me I have just polished off a tub of honey nougat icecream, yummo.

Hello to all the other sisters, I will need to go and check on baby now. I spoke too soon when I said I had got the knack of parenting, since then baby has decided that bed time is at 4.00am. We stay up all night watching infomercials. If I have to see P Diddy flogging pimple cream one more time I'm gonna scream.

Speak soon, Fee

Hello! I believe I have a bit of a problem....it is developing into an addiction of sorts....yep, it is called Compulsive POAS disorder. I can't stop!!!! Help!!!! We may not have food on the table for Christmas because I will have spent it all on HPT's!!!! My goal for today is to go buy the one that says "Pregnant, Not Pregnant" just so that I can see the word "Pregnant". Can you say LOSER - GET A LIFE?!?! The good news is that they continue to show 2 lines and that 2nd line is getting darker. I am still in awe of the fact that they really do have 2 lines!!! :D Ok, so here is something to make you all laugh....ok, I am ashamed.....oh, this is really pathetic :? .....I don't know if I can even share this.....ok, here it goes.....I found some old Clear Blue test yesterday (an older one I had in the cabinet) and I thought, "Oh - what the hell? Why not?" So, yep, I peed on it. Well, here's the deal....I think it was an ovulation predictor stick left over from my IUI days and not even an HPT. I told my husband about it and he just looked at me like I was some kind of maniac and said, "Geez Tina, you will pee on anything right now". And I said, "Yep, better step back or I will lift my leg on you!!!!! Better yet - go get me a stick from the yard and let's see what happens when I pee on IT!!!!" :D :D Whew....I feel better. I believe I just needed to confess my sins.

Fee - Ok, you absolutely cracked me up with the comment of me acting like some eccentric celebrity at the beauty salon. I laughed so hard. I decided to play kind of coy and demure about the whole thing and simply held the towel over my face. You know, kind of like a dainty little hanky of sorts. :) I could not bear the thought of looking like Michael Jackson or one of his Freak show kids.

MP - welcome!! You have come to the right place. However, let me warn you that the sistas don't like drive-by posts. So, once you post, you have to come back. With that being said, these women have helped me a lot and I think I would have clearly gone out of my mind without them (please don't use the post above regarding the HPT's as a judge of my sanity!!!). Anyway, welcome aboard!!!!

Vicky/Angie - how are you doing???

Jenn - thanks for the continued support. I can't wait until Friday to get my blood test and have this all officially confirmed!!! What part of TX are you in? I am down in San Antonio. Our weather sucks, too. Cold, wet, and nasty. I bet Meg's is much worse in Nebraska. I think it is snowing there and like 15 degrees. Ugghhh...

Ok, take care ladies!!! I am off to hunt down some more HPT's!!!! :) My boss would be so pleased to know about what I do during the day. He might reconsider this whole option of letting me work at home!!! :D

Yep, Tina it is very horrible weather here. Freezing rain all night turned into snow this morning. It's 27 degrees right now, though, so not too cold. Gotta love winter in Nebraska!

Congrats on all the tests. I gotta tell you, I was never brave enough to POAS --in fact with Lucy I was like 40 days past my period before I was brave enough to try. I just couldn't face seeing another negative. When is your official test day? (And please try not to pee on too many things--we'd hate to see you arrested for unlawful peeing. Although there is always the IVF defense if you need it!)

MP---Welcome. I'm wishing you the best of luck in this crazy journey--we definitely need a nickname for you. Better come up with one you like before we stick you with something like "Pee-Pee" (Although that might be a great name for Tina!)

Fee--Hang in there. :) I'm glad you stuck with Rio as a name. And great to hear about your MIL--in the baby shuffle we'd been neglecting her! Glad to hear the cancer has stepped off and I'll pray it stays that way!

I'm doing good---trying to get motivated to go out and do some Christmas shopping. It's so hard with a 3 month old to get out of the house. I can't believe Christmas is so close! Well, best get going--hope everyone else is well!

Tina- I think you should back away from the sticks. And I wouldn't lift my leg on anyone either. It is the Holiday season and people are stressed and you never know what they will do to you if you pee on them. I'm just saying!
We are north of Houston. We have been wanting to go to San Antonio for a long time. Just never got around to it. I want to go to the River Walk and Sea World. We were in San Diego this summer and never made it to see Shamoo so DH has promised me a trip to San Antonio. I guess we will wait until the weather is good in the spring or something.

How many embryos did you put in? Are we maybe having more than one?? My numbers were really high at first and the Dr. was thinking twins, but it was just little Anna in there all by herself.

Sistas- I need christmas shopping ideas. We don't buy for everyone in DH's family. We all bring a $25 gift and then everyone picks one from the pile and we steal and have fun with it. But this year I can't think of a good $25 gift to bring. What is something that most people would want??

Dh found this thing at the store called a Yard-of-Beef and he is determined to bring that as his gift. It is like a big sausage. YUCK!! It looks disgusting, and yet interesting at the same time. It is almost really a yard long, but not quite, so I don't get the name but anyway...that is what he wants to bring. I still need something for me!
Jenn

Hello all! Well, lucky for me and my addiction, the clinic has decided to let me come in a day early to test. The nurse seemed a little surprised that I tested positive so early and agreed to let me come in for my b/w on Thursday morning, instead of Friday. She said, "well, if you are still testing positive, then you are probably pregnant". Good thing I can go in day earlier because clearly I have been a bit of a basket case! :) So, I will let you all know on Thursday afternoon my results!!! Yeah!!!

MP - I am at the Fertility Center of San Antonio: Dr. Martin and Dr. Neal. They are wonderful!! I usually deal with Dr. Neal who I really like. He is the one who did my transfer. Who is your RE? I knew a lot about this clinic as two of my nephews were born out of there - one was my SIL's 1st IVF and the other was from a frozen cycle left over from the 1st IVF. Pretty darn good results, so that is right where I went.

Jenn - We had 2 excellent embryos put in, so I don't know. I have to admit I am kind of wondering at this point. Wow - I can't imagine if there are two!!! It would certainly be one heck of a surprise!! I don't believe we have any twins in this group, do we? Now, let's discuss for a moment your "yard-of-beef". I believe this concerns me a tad. There are many things that run through my head about this particular gift, including whether or not there are any single women in the family who might find this particular gift intriguing??? :) As for your gift, what about something like some Christmas DVD's? A good book? You could bring something really big to top your husband's gift like a ficus tree!!! That would be funny to throw in the middle of the pile! :)

Meg - uggghhhh....27 degrees. Our weather has been funky down here. Hot one day, chilly and raining the next. Whatever. My husband probably still wonders what he was thinking when he gave up Denver to move here for me!! It doesn't help when all of his friends call from Vail this past weekend where they are all up skiing. We are usually there with them, but clearly decided we wouldn't be doing that this year. :(

Ok, I am off to get some more work done. This working from home is a good gig, but I think I will head to the office tomorrow as I might need some more interaction and it will keep me away from the HPT's for a while. :D

Hellooo - just a quickie from me - I have been disconnected since Thursday and was feeling like I had lost my right arm! Tina - brilliant news for you - very happy for you and glad you can test a day early as we don't want you peeing up a lamp post or anywhere else for that matter!

We have moved! YAY! finally! Shower, oven and even the dunny (Aussieism thrown in for good measure) are all working - drowning in a sea of boxes but it's all good.

Need to go get some lunch - starving and feeling weak - this wombat is eating the life out of me.

Back soon.

Angie - Congratulations on the MOVE!! How exciting. I am sure the house is beautiful now and perfect for the wombat. Congratulations on that by the way.

Fee - Nice job on producing Nogs. I am so proud of you. P Diddy has had some real hardships with those three zits - please watch him and sign up for his product as I am sure he needs the money. You really shouldn't have put the bats on the ticker as Nogs (or shall I say Rio) took it literally and would like to be nocturnal. Change your ticker to something that sleeps during the night and Nogs will learn.

Tina - Congratulations on the POAS habit. It is pricier than crack, but the fact that you saw two lines is amazing. I, like MP, didn't think they actually produced two lines so I would love to see the sight!

Jenn - Beef log seems oddly appropriate for Texas. You bring the clapper and a chia pet. People say they don't want them, but would love to clap their lights off from the comfort of their beds. Get a chia pet in an armadillo shape.

MP - Welcome. I am here periodically when I am not on my spiritual journey to fertility.

Sass - I have an FET scheduled in January... you in?
Been MIA as I have been "finding" myself. Going to the acupuncturist which I refer to as my "Chi" doctor. Love him. He has me all warm and fuzzy. He even talked me into using some of the lucky 7 blastocysts in a transfer. I am almost convinced it could work...

Night Night!

Amy - we don't hear from you much but when we do it's always a cracker of a post! :D

Bring on the good chi . 7 is a lucky number in Chinese isn't it? Actually come to think of it the wombat was the 7th (or 8th but we'll discount that) embryo I had transferred .

Hello! I believe my obsession with the HPT's must end. The chick at the drug store actually recognized me from 2 days ago and looked at the box and said, "Did the other box not work for you"? Uh - can we say someone has never been infertile before??? I unfortunately did not have time to give her a lecture on the subject, so I politely told her that they worked just fine, thank you. Can't a girl request a second opinion? :) Ok, so I took my last one this morning. I really like the ones that say "pregnant". Those are really fun. Well, the blood test is tomorrow and that will solve this issue once and for all....and allow me to still have money to spend on Christmas presents. :)

Amy - Welcome back! Humor such as yours needs to show its face around here more often. Sounds like you might be joining us again soon! I had never been to an accupuncturist until I started going through all this stuff and I really like it, too. Although I must say I am still weirded out about the whole thing. I think I esp freaked out a little when he stuck them in my head. Hmmm...whatever works, right? :)

Angie - congrats on the move! The unpacking can be kind of fun because you get to start all over in decorating..which I love to do. Of course, you are probably not in the mood for it considering your circumstances. Oh well, at least you are in the new house!! What is a dunny, by the way? :)

HELLOOOO AMY!!! So glad to hear from you. So FET in January eh? Coming right up. Glad to hear your CHI is in order.

Angie- I am so glad you are finally in your house. Your long move was actually starting to tucker me out so I can only imagine how tired you feel!! Rest- You will only get more tired in the future. I can't seem to sleep at night and so the days are hard to get through without a nap! I think my little one is sucking the life out of me as well.

Went to the hospital last night to take the tour of the labor and delivery floor. Very nice. We were very impressed, and DH didn't ask any embarrassing questions so I was happy.

Off to christmas shop. Have a good day everyone. Tina- can't wait to hear your official news tomorrow!!

Tina: I am with the new fertility specialist in town Dr. Arredondo. He has been in SA only 3 months, but we really feel comfortable with him and his staff. And since the is so new we get a lot of one on one time and attenntion with his staff. Also, 8/10 IVFs he has already done turned into BFP!

ANd it is a sad day when the checkout girl know you by name b/c of your POAS obsession :). I am always so nervous buying them - it's like buying KYJelly!

You know how ppl sometimes do an ornament or gift exchange - maybe we should do a Pg test exchange ;) That way we don't have to feel guilty about buying more, now we can just think I am spending this money on a gift!
