Congrats Su

Post by stephjim »

Congratulations Su, I am so happy for you. You give us all hope.

Well we restarted the IUI thing again this month after I had hand surgery. I went for my US today for day 12 and the doc only saw two follicles, one that was too small and the other he said was way too big to be an egg and he canceled the whole cycle.

I was just shocked. I did not expect to get those results. I was very emotional when the doctor left the room and bit my husbands head off in the process. The reason for that was he had jokingly made the comment prior to going in that he hoped that we had to come back tomorrow for insemination because he did not like the on the spot, hey go make a deposit. So, in my Clomid moment, I said well I got guess your got your wish.
So, I wanted to ask everyone that in their previous experiences, would you recommend I ask to try Menopur now? I don't know if I spelled that correctly. I have done 100 mg Clomid three times and I went from 4 to 3 to 2 follicles. I wonder if something else stronger is what I need. We are only trying insemination one more time, but honestly, I wish we could just go straight to IVF.

Oh well. I tried to shop off the being upset and now I have sat down and wrote this and I am again.

I hope everyone else has a Big BFP weekend.

Steph

Steph - so sorry you got cancelled, I remember that feeling too well!
From my experience I would think menopur would be a good next step. I didn't respond to 50mg clomid at all then did 3 cycles with 100mg. I think I had 2 follies the first time, then 1 on the second. By the third cycle it took until day 25 to get just 1 follie and they almost cancelled. I was told you can become resisitant to clomid, maybe this is what's happening to you too.
When I spoke to my nurse this week she said they'd had a lot of success with menopur and iui lately. I can't say I liked the side-effects much but its been worth it.
I wish you all the best for your next cycle

I have left a message with the doctor to find out if they would consider going that route. I would prefer just moving on to IVF, but I promised my husband we would try IUI three times.

Hey stephjim, im so sorry you got cancelled this month!! That sucks. I hate the waiting, we had to skip a cycle too and it seems to take forever to go by. Hopefully they will switch your med and you'll get a ton of follies! I think we can all say we have taken our frustrations out on our spouses a few times dealing with if, im sure he understands. Try not to get frustrated, hopefully you'll get your bfp with your next iui and save tons of money by avoiding ivf! Im keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hey stephjim
Yea it sucks when that happens. My first ivf was cancelled just before EC and I was so bummed out. Yep I wanted to bypass the iui thing and go straight back to ivf but the doctor wanted me to try the iui's. The success rates for ivf are higher and I didn't find it much different apart from the EC part.

Keep :) girl your next cycle will be here before you know it!! Sorry I don't know much about menopur and clomid, I was on puregon.

I'm back

Post by maineknitter »

Hello all!!! I'm back. I just couldn't stay away and was always wondering how everyone was doing.

Steph, we're on our third IUI also. My doc initially said to try 3 or 4 IUIs. If this one doesn't work, I'd almost rather go straight to IUI. I don't want to run out of insurance coverage and would rather spend it on something I could never afford to pay cash for. And with all this snowy winter traveling I have to do, I'd rather try something that has a better success rate.

I'm on day 10 of my cycle, using follistim. IUI will probably be the 15th or 17th.

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. Glad to see you are back maineknitter. I have been trying to stay off the forums more too, but its hard. I guess I think if I stayed away I wont think about if all the time, but it never works, I think of it all the time no matter what I'm doing.
Anyway, Im waiting for af to show so i can try again. She should be here today or tommorow. im guessing my iui will be right around christmas. (what a great xmas gift, right??) I hope this is our month!!

Hello all!! It sounds like everyone is doing ok and trying to think positive. I know sometimes it can be tough, but I just really feel like one way or the other, it will all work itself out for all of us!!! :)

The IVF roller coaster has been a unique one, although it appears that there may just be some good news coming up for me very soon. I have taken 4....yes, 4.....HPT's....and.....yes, they have all given me a BFP! I have been taking them for 4 days now which was pretty early to get a positive read as I was only 8 days past my 3 day transfer....but they put 2 excellent embryos in, so it looks like at least one is hanging in there...who knows, maybe two? :) Anyway, I am definitely pregnant it appears. However, I still won't believe it until I have my blood test on Thursday. I was originally scheduled for Friday, but I believe I talked them into seeing me early. The nurse even seemed surprised that I tested positive so early. Hmmmm....maybe there are twins? Who knows!!! The blood test will tell me how high my beta is and how viable everything is looking. I will not even begin to celebrate until after that test. So, wish me luck ladies. :) It has been a crazy roller coaster and I just hope I can stay on it for the entire ride!!

So, hang in there all of you!!! I continue to think about you all and hope you are all doing well. I will let you know how Thurs goes and will keep checking in on all of you!! Take care!!

Hello all

Congratulations Tina, I am curious to find out what your Beta is testing so early.

Hello all, waiting for AF to come hopefully Thursday so that it doc appts do not conflict with work. We had to skip this last cycle because of only having one small follicle. So I will give IUI one more try and then I am on to IVF w/ICSI.

I am glad I will have some buddies to do a December IUI with. Looking forward to hearing BFPs for all of us, Mkdig and Mainekitter.
