urgent- bleeding at 6wks... question

Post by gekasbaby »

TMI- I am wearing a panty liner and I bled enough to fill it. My question is this... say I am pregnant with twins... is it possible to still carry one if I miscarry the other?

My doctor said that bleeding is normal but I am very concerned.

Dear gekasbaby,
I had little bit spotting at 6 weeks which continued till 9 weeks. It was very very sparse but rattled me enough that I went to the ER. The ran all tests and everything was ok. I went on to have a successful pregnancy w/o further bleeding.

If you have had enough to soak a panty liner and if your doc says it is normal- I would still go to the ER for peace of mind. Mine told me to go the ER if I soaked a panty liner.

Hope this helps. I know how scared you must be. Chances are that it is just part of the process, not a miscarriage. I will be praying for you and I wish you good luck with everything. Try to stay strong and positive.

My doc told me that it seems to be normal and to stay on bed rest all weekend. He said NOT to go to ER because it would be a waste of time. I am gonna go in tomorrow if it persists. It is very scary.

Hi Gekasbaby,

I totally relate to how you are feeling. Last Sunday I bled the same amount you described. Out of the blue I about soaked about 3/4 of a liner. My nurse told me to go to the ER which was a waste of time, all it did was confirm I'm pregnant and having bleeding. On top of that it has created more worry. The ultrasound tech could see a gestational sac which is great but she couldn't see a yolk sac which they should be able to at 5 weeks 3 days. So, I have been waiting for 6 days now and have 2 more to wait before my RE office will do an ultrasound. Its like being back in the 2ww again cause I just don't know.
Do you have an ultrasound soon? At this far along they should be able to see enough to put your mind at rest.
Did you have any cramping or pass any clots?
I have read that the vast majority of bleeds in pregnancy resolve themselves and continue into healthy pregnancy. I won't tell you not to worry cause everyone tells me that and its not an option, how can we not worry.
I'll keep everything crossed for you and say a little prayer.

Nikki

Well, the bleeding stopped. That was all I had yesterday. I dont know what is causing it. I did not have cramping either.

Thanks Nikki for your thoughts and concern. I hope all goes well with you too.

Anyone else experience this at 6 weeks???? I just wonder if its a vanishing twin. I guess I will find out during my u/s on Monday.

Good luck at your ultrasound, sounds like things are on track for you. I have mine tomorrow also. I have been sitting on the couch for a week now so I am dying to know.

Thanks Fiona, tomorrow is going to bring either the best or the worst news. Either way, the wait will be over, thank God.

Exactly, it is a horrible wait. I am just praying to see one lil strong heartbeat. My appt is first thing in the morning so I will keep you posted.
So, I haven't been bleeding anymore. I did have like a brown spotting earlier so I dont know if it was just the vaginal caps irritating me or what. I hope to find out tomorrow but I don't know if they will have any answers. Anyway, thanks for your warm wishes. :)

Have you ladies been having morning sickness? I have and its horrible.

Keep us posted after your appt.

Nice to hear you had two strong heart beats. Congratulations you are having twins. I have had bleeding is sometimes normal since the body is still adjusting to the change in hormones. take care of yourself not and stop worrying.

I hope this puts your mind at ease, because i know how crazy scared i was when it happened to me .......
I have triplets (born 10/1/07). From weeks 5-8 i had 3 episodes of bleeding, the 3rd one being the heaviest (enough to soak a pantiliner). EAch week my doctor said to stay on bed rest until the bleeding stopped. The third time it happened also happened to be the day of my 2nd ultrasound appointment. I was so scared because i swore i was misscarying (at that time, we thought we were only have twins based on my first ultrasound the week before). But that turned out to be the day they told us we were having triplets! I never had any bleeding after that for the rest of my pregnancy and my triplets were born perfectly healthy and good sizes at 33 weeks ! Good luck !!
