welcome browneyedgirl! I love the name by the way. I too hope your first try is all it takes. :D

mia - Af is supposed to arrive on 12/24 for me. My doc told me to call if I don't get it by 12/26. Apparently they will induce it with a big dose of progesterone. :D Might be something you can ask about if AF is really late. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Back to work tomorrow. ugh...I hate mondays.

Good evening all - I feel a lot of positive energy through this site, and it makes me smile

You know, I must say that I am delighted that we are from all around the world and yet are all here on this site talking about our ovaries! small world hee hee

I have my "test run" tomorrow morning and I hope to ask a that time what my actual date to start everything is, so until then, I am curious.....
I know that the UK has socialised medicine, but does it cover IVF?
I am lucky enough to be attending Grad School right now, and with my assistantship, I acquired amazing health insurance, and it turns out that they actually cover IVF if infertility is established by the doctor/s -which it has- it is also, coincidentally a hospital associated with my University. Before I knew that this was the path DH and I would be taking, I had decided that life had taken enough detours, and that if we were going to have a small person, it would happen now, and school would not stop me, turns out, it is school that has made this possible- kismet, I believe. Of course there have been plenty of outsiders who chime in, and I have started to simply smile and say - "what's the big deal? teenagers do it all the time  " even though inside I am scared shitless.
At any rate, I will let you know how things go tomorrow.
good night and sweet dreams

Hi Girls,

It has been a while since I posted here... have been quite busy at work, working evening.. weekends...

Cornybaby, my last cycle I did accupuncture in Irvine. Not sure if I found it relaxing, couple of times it made me sleep, may be one of those stressful days, but then there were days when I didn't feel anything and I wan anxious to just get out. But it didn't help me make any more eggs than the first cycle. I might do it again this time, hoping for a miracle.
We are also doing blood karyotype to make sure there is no chromosome abnormality with us; we will get the result in a week or two. Just waiting for AF now... hopefully in another 2 weeks... there was hope first two times... now there is fear... :(

Hope you all had a good weekend... one more week and I will be off work until New Year :D . May it be a good year for all of us!

Love,
ammu.

loopie: Yes I love that there arre so many countries represented on this board! You really are blessed with that graduate program! I am in graduate school too!

Cornybaby: I hope AF comes on time and doesn't make you wait.

Welcome back Ammu :) What do you mean by there was hope the first twotimes?

Well girls call me crazy, but I am going to POAS tomorrow if AF doesn't come. I keep reading online about implantation cramps that match the cramps I was feeling on the 11th! Also I am am at cd32 and I have no signs of AF except for a lower back ache which has been with me for about a week now! The only thing we did differently this time is the RE gave us PreSeed to use instead of KyJelly (it is supposed to facilitate fertility and be better for the sperm than KY).

So I might be posting a BFN tomorrow, but I might post a natural BFP. That would be so great to save $15k!

If not I won't be too disappointed b/c I have a lot of hope for our ICSI in January!

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a good weekend, I have had the day off today so not had the dredded Monday morning going to work feeling although I am back tomorrow boo..

Good luck for tommorow mp, I really hope you get your natural bfp, what a great Christmas present that would be...

Welcome browneyedgirl, as the others have said I hope your stay on these boards is short and sweet and ends with a lovely bfp in February...

Loopie- Im in the UK and we have had our two goes of icsi on the NHS, basically for free. All I had to pay was the prescription charges which is about £6 each time so brilliant. The success rates are not brilliant though as going private as there is only limited money so everyone works to one protocol which is down regging, stimulating, ec then et 2 days later. This is great but not everyone is the same so you do not get any extra tests and the embrios go back on day 2 so they might not be the best ones if they were to be left to 5 days or blast (if you see what i mean). If this last fet does not work then we will be going private so looking at about £4,000

Hope everyone else is ok, another day closer to christmas and down regging yey.

xxx :D

MP - good luck with the HPT! I sure hope it's a BFP for you. I've always wanted to be one of those success stories, but so far, no luck. :(

Ammu - Irvine for acu, huh? I found a doc there named Lee I think? Daniel Lee maybe...I don't know. I just don't know if I am going to try it again or not. If I found it more relaxing, it would be a no-brainer, but since I really didn't enjoy it, I just don't know if it will help.

Ok - just wanted to check in. Gotta get back to work. Happy Monday to all my girls out there. It's so great to have this support and I appreciate each and every one of you and your encouraging words and stories.

January at the starting gate!

Post by loopie »

Hey Mia, corny, emma rio and all

just back from my trial transfer this morning. Everything looked good, had 8 follies on the right, and less on the left with a small cyst on leftie - but they say no worries -so I'm going with that and cruising on into another emotional xmas -
- looks like I will begin the cycle on 7 january - and 12 January, should be the 1st day of my hormone shots.
I am interested in hearing if anyone else will be supplementing the western meds with acupuncture, and if there are any other things I should get my hands on besides folic acid, and if there is anything I should specifically steer clear of -i'd like to know that, too!-
cheers

Well it was a BFN for me. Now I am just waiting for that dang old hag to get here so I can get started! I barely slept at all last night, so I think a good nap for me will make me feel much better :)

Thanks Rio! I hope this is a miracle month for us all!

I had planned to surprise DH on our 10th anniversary in Feb with a trip skiing(to Lake Tahoe or CO), but now since AF is late I might be in the 2ww by then :( So I am trying to decide if I get a BFP in Feb, would it be safe to go skiing, or is that too strenuous. Maybe we could go early, before the ET... But I don't think Dh will be able to take off time till Feb... Hmmm what to do what to do...

Super Rio! we can be all hopped up on hormones at the same time

Mia, I say- don't put your life on hold - celebrate the time you have with DH and your anni, maybe a weekend away, but skiing may be pushing it if you're on the 2ww- perhaps sippin cocoa by the fire at the lodge, and let him do the downhill

we were supposed to have a trip with Dh's family, but it's the week of egg retrieval - so in lieu of that, we're going to do a little b&b thing or a mini-break probably just after new year -I mean if all goes well, it could be the last time it's just the 2 of us! :D

here's to Jan& feb!

Dh surprised me last night with dinner reservations at an upscale restaurant last night! (If you knew my dh you would be shocked - he doesn't usually do things like this). He said he wanted us to just do something that we will have less of a chance to do once our little ones get here :) He scored major points making me feel so positive about the IVF cycle!

Loopie - maybe we should create a message board for our husbands for the Jan/Feb cycle so they can cope with their hormonal wives

Mia - All I heard was rest for 4 days after ET.... so hopefully it will work out for your trip

I need to go eat some sushi and have a couple of glasses of wine cause hopefully there will be no raw fish or alcohol for us for the next 9 months :)
