hello i have just had ivf ET was the 05.12.07 and three tests say positive, my first scan is on the 09.01.08 but i have really bad cramping pains even more so if i stand up are these pains just normal or am i being extra paranoid. looked at websites and now i am really paranoid. this is my third try at ivf and after 15 years i just hope everything is ok

Congratulations!

I had pains starting around week 5 or 6. It was just my uterus stretching. That is probably what it is for you. It does hurt and it is scary. Hang in there. Your uterus is just trying to make room for baby!! Call your doctor if you think it is too much or you need reassurance. Maybe they will scan early or run a bloodtest.

I posted the same question a few days ago on the Aug 08 bump buddies thread (why don't you join us). I'd had some mild cramping ever since the iui but it got worse at about 6 weeks and was really worrying me for a few days. It's totally gone now except for the occasional twinge. I did some searches on the web and found loads of things saying its normal and just the uterus growing and ligaments etc stretching.
I think as long as you're not doubled up with pain and there's no bleeding then you're ok.
I've decided that the BFP is just the beginning of the next 18 or so years of worry so am going to try to relax.

firstly, congratulations on your BFP!!!!! and welcome to the board!!

secondly, what kind of pains are they and where are they?? pains could mean anything but its probably just the baby making room. you can take paracetamol but mustn't take anything else. depending on how bad the pains are and where, i would phone your midwife/doctor and just check with them.
