Hi all..just checkin' in...like rio :D

Mia - any word yet? Did you do an HPT or did AF show up? AF must be right around the corner for me, because I'm irritable as all heck, and my lower back is killing me. DH even took on an overtime day today...probably just to get out of the house and away from me. Anyway...I finally got some shopping done and have been wrapping all night. I just now sat down after going non-stop since 5am, and I'm enjoying a glass of wine. :D Hope you are all well! Man this month is flying by! Yay!

Hi :)
I just started my first BC pill today and will be starting Lupron on 1/9. I'm a bit scared of the shots (the pain and the side-effects like moodswings). this is my first IVF and my doc is very hopeful that it'll be successful

One question I had...Do you guys speak with your doctor at all, or is it mainly the nurses? I have 2 nurses that I've been talking to about the whole procedure...not sure when the doctor really comes into play, except for the embryo transfer. although this is supposed to be the best doctor/clinic, so maybe he reviews everything behind the scenes??

Hi and Welcome 21!

It's my 1st cycle in January, so I can't answer questions about shots/hormones or anything, though I'm sure there are some other ladies and men  who can talk about that !
What I can tell you is that my doc has been working with me since Dh and I jumped on the IF wagon about 2-3 months ago. At each appointment, he has had an intern with him in both the exam room and consultations with me and DH ( guess it's due to the fact that it's a teaching hospital 8) ).
In January, I will be meeting with a nurse who will show me how to give myself shots, and various medications, then I don't know how many folks will be involved with the egg-straction (hee hee) or ICSI in the lab, but it's sort of like Hillary says "it takes a village"!
On another note, I am so looking forward to Masterpiece Theatre's Complete Jane Austen Series that begins on 13 January - so during my hormone madness, et and 2ww, I will at least have some literary heroines to keep me company!
cheers!

Hey girls...try not to stress over the shots too much. After you get the first one done, they really aren't so bad. As for the roller-coaster of emotions...buckle your seatbelts! Honestly, I think the lupron had the biggest effect on me. I was crying about everything. Happy. Sad. It didn't matter. I cried.

Rio - I am in the same situation as you. The only time I see my doc is for ultrasounds. And even then, the dialog is minimal. Most of the communication is done through my nurses, but I know he's behind the scenes with me every step of the way. I will say, I am going to a huge clinic that is very much a baby factory. This is my 2nd try with him, and if it doesn't work, I will probably try to find a smaller clinic, and one that gives a little more individual attention than my current one does. But hopefully, I'll get a BFP this time and not have to worry about it anymore. :D

Happy Friday to all!

Hi Girls!!!

My doctor put me on Yasmin and I had one period in the beginning of December but he said to not have any more AF until Jan 7th when I start the shots.

Conrybaby - no worries ;) I saw that you are also in California, where abouts? I am in Monterey :)

21 - Welcome! I have had a good experience with my doctor. He is always there and always meets with my DH and I after every test, etc... he is very considerate, available and responsive. I talk to the nurses on the phone and they just mailed me a full calendar so I know what happens each day.

I have family visiting me in January right in the beginning of my shots - they are going to think I am C-r-a-z-y!!!! Hihihi

I told our parents and we also told our bosses (DH and I) because we figure that all the going and coming from the clinic will raise suspicions... ;) Also, my boss and his wife went through many IVF cycles and they are awesome support. Other than that, I don't want anyone asking me too much or feeling sad if it doesn't work.

Is it January yet ? :)

SHE IS FINALLY HERE!! !! Af came this morning so I called the RE and I am supposed to go in tomorrow morning for bw. I start my bcp on Sunday. Thursday is a big day - IVF class, mock transfer - HSG (w/ saline). I knew she was coming yesterday cause I felt so ugly and fat - Sure sign that witch is right around the corner

Cornybaby: I know what you mean.. I should have guessed by Dh's long hours that I was PMSing!

21bat: For me it is mainly the nurses. The RE does do the u/s though and that is an important part. I am sure the REs oversee the nurses' work. Our clininc is new (3 mos old!!) so we get lots of attention :) The only side effects I remember is the ITCHING  That was horrible!

Nobody knows this time. That is why I am so glad for this MB - so I can talk to someone. Last time I got tired of ppl calling to check if we were pg yet and others who said I know it will work - for some reasons it ticks me off when others try to claim they know this will work. I'm like where have you been all these 8 years when it didn't! (sorry for the attitude; I blame PMS...)

Ok girls, I need to clean this house. Tomorrow we are leaving for Houston to visit family and then we get back on Sunday and other family will be coming in. So I need to stay focused. Oh, BTW finally got my tree up :) We found one last night 50% off; now my 1st floor smells like pine - it doesn't take much to make me happy :D

Peace, love, and baby dust ****

Hi waiting for Mia, I got the date from a post you had so please change it if it is not correct. My doctor is sending me a calendar, he put me on BCP since mid November and I remember him saying at least two to three weeks on BCP (to make sure the lining of the uterus is smooth).
Once I get my calendar with all the dates we can compare notes. this is what I have from memory:

start meds on 1/7 for about 21 days give or take

ultrasounds

egg retrieval on 24th to 27th (depending on ultrasounds and size of follicles)

Embryo transfer on 28th to 30th (depending on fertilization and growth)

Testing on 7th to 9th of February :)

I figure the list will keep us updated on everyone's progress and also on a BFP for all of us :) then we can all move to the pregnancy board!!!

BABY DUST!!!

Rio- thanks for the list! It is SO hard to keep track and this will definitely help! :D

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend! Im just going to be getting ready to entertain on Christmas Eve...which is also my wedding anniversary! As soon as AF shows up, they will mail my calendar to me, and as long as she gets here by the 26th or so, I will be on that 1/14 lupron start. Any later than that, and I won't start until 1/21.

Hopefully the time will keep flyin' by!

Hugs,

Hi gang!
Rio thanks for the calendar
I am on BCP until 7th Jan(that's like 36 days straight -grrrr!)
then start hormone shots on 12 January and then egg retrieval 21-23 Jan depending on hormone levels
then implantation 24-26 Jan
then- 2WW I think
are you sure they have you on shots for 21 days? seems a long time or you may be counting progesterone after implantation?
I don't know - I'm a beginner at this.
Had acupuncture yesterday- we're excited, and I will be working with her throughout the IVF stuff -which should help with hormone crazies if nothing else!
Hope you are all well, and that 2008 hurries up and gets here!!
Happy Holidays - drive safe, and eat way too much
