Seems to be quiet on this side

Morning Everyone, Well I have been popping in and out the last few days but it seems so quiet over this side, is everyone ok. Well I will be 31wks tomorrow and wow I can't believe I will only have 9 more weeks left and that's if I go full term. To be honest the movement of the baby is stronger then ever and yesterday the baby was constantly moving from 18:30 till 23:00 I couldn't get comfortable and kept seeing the movement over my tummy. It also is a lovely feeling when I run my hand across my tummy and can feel the hardness and lump where the baby is. I am just so excited now. The nursery is near enough all done now, cot is up and sheets on etc and just need to get a chest of draws. I was going to have a wardrobe but to be honest the nursery room is not big anyway and I don't want to make it look to small and block the light out. Hope to hear from you soon. Hi Shell - glad to hear everything is fine with you - you must be so excited as not long to go now - can't wait for the day when you post your news!!! Our little girl is moving quite frequently too (23 wks this week) and I just have to keep feeling her - its fantastic isnt it - I'm sure it gets far more intense the further on you get. My husband has managed to feel her moving too - she usually starts when I'm quiet either resting at home or when I get into bed. When I lie down you can sometimes see her moving - its wonderful. Come on girls - let's have your updates cos we don't like it when its too quiet on this side!! Lots of Love - Jo. xxxx ps-we have decided to call our little girl Alice - I just had to have a name for her, it didnt seem right to keep referring to her as different nicknames, etc., I wanted to get it sorted and its really made it feel as if she's really part of the family now!! Hi Shell and Jo, It was so lovely to read your updates, I thought I'd post mine too. Shell, we've decided the same as you re nursery furniture - we're just going to get a chest of drawers for now. We haven't bought any furniture yet, but we've painted the room (primrosey yellow and white) and my parents are coming down next weekend and taking us cot shopping! Jo, how wonderful to know you're having a daughter, and Alice is a really lovely name. It sounds as though you feel very bonded with her already, really special. After much deliberating we've decided not to find out the sex of our baby. We really don't mind what it is, and the thing that swung it for us was the thought that Rob can then be the one to say 'It's a boy/girl!' when it's born, which he feels will be very special for him. I can see the advantages to knowing, but am happy to have a surprise too. It'll be tempting on scan day though - we see our little one again on Dec 17th, by which time I'll be 23 weeks! In the last week I've started to feel the baby move which is so brilliant. I love feeling the hardness of the bump too Shell, isn't it fab. I've been going to antenatal yoga and find it really relaxing, and great for stretching muscles I didn't know I had and getting used to breathing through discomfort! Hi Beck & Jo I was starting to get worried to be honest because usually someone is posting on this side all the time but the last few days I noticed that not many people have been about so I thought I would say hello. Jo - It does get stronger with each passing day feeling the baby move but I am not complaining I am just enjoying every minute of it to be honest. When I was how many weeks you was you could tell the kicks, but being 30wks the kicks are stronger but it feels more like the baby is moving across my tummy. It seems like yesterday when I tested negative then 24hours tested positive but I just want to meet my baby so much. It must be lovely for you though Jo knowing what your having and to be honest the name you have chosen is beautiful. I haven't told any of my family what names we are having because there are a couple in the family that are pregnant and I know this sounds horrible but I just don't want them to pinch the name. If ours is a boy we are looking at calling him Mitchell, but I like Aiden but Lee is not to keen, and if its a girl we both like Sharkena. But who knows that may change. Becky - It is all exciting, I bet your so excited as well now especially feeling the baby move more each day and being able to share these movements makes it even more special. I am like you Becky to be honest we don't know what we are having, admittenly at the scan I was dying to know but I thought no I can wait a little while longer to find out. I have to go for another scan beginning of December so they will say to me there if I don't want to know then I should turn away. The thing is Becky I am having to be kept a close eye on because my baby is measuring more then it should be. Anyway I suppose I best get some work done, will pop back later to see anymore posts. Wow Shell, your baby might arrive pretty soon then! You might meet little Mitchell or Sharkena (really unusual, I haven't heard that name before - where does it come from? V stylish) well before nine weeks are up. Hope all goes well with the next scan - as you say, no peeping at the bits! Our names have changed quite a bit over time, but at the moment we're pretty stuck on Lola for a girl (just because we like it, and also when I was in hospital with OHSS there was an adorable little girl called Lola visiting her mum in the next bed, and it seemed a good omen), and Frank for a boy - it was my grandad's name, and is Rob's dad's middle name, so nice to have one for both sides of the family, plus we hope our little one will be a frank and honest little thing! Hi Beck Its just all so exciting, I promise I won't take a look at the bits hee hee, well I may just see if I can have a little look. I won't cus I have gone this long and I don't want to spoil it. My friend as just seen my belly move and she started singing jelly on a plate wibble wobble ha ha. Beck the name Sharkena is similar pronounced to the pop star but it comes from my Sister in Law's niece who is named it and I just thought it was unusual. Its nice that you have picked the names and they are unusual too you don't hear of them very often, but least having Frank it would keep it in the family and your Dad would be touched by it. Hi Girls Glad to hear you are all well and im getting excited just reading all your posts, all your names are lovely i like them all. We have the trouble off picking two and we cant really agree on even one (ha ha ha) We both kind off like Elli and Ami for a girl and Calum and Kyle for a boy, ive just started getting my hospital bag ready as the midwife said if i go to 34 - 35 weeks im doing great and im now 27weeks and 3days so i guess not long for me either!!! Ive still not had my nursery stuff delivered sick off phoning them and them saying i will phone you back and they never do, so im going to go daft tomorrow at them on the phone!! Nursery has been decorated so i guess thats a start - Shelly you must be excited having your cot and that now, bet you keep looking at it? I know i would ha ha ha. Get my next scan on the 1st off Dec i cant wait to see the babies again, i want to know the sex off them but Colin doesnt so im hoping i can see something on the 1st ha ha ha Sending you all my love Louise x x x x x

Hi Girls, We have been on holiday for the last 2 weeks, got back last nite .. It was wonderful to get away and rest! Belly also took the time to grow alot. I can feel some movement, at least thats what i think it is .. feels like someone tickling the inside of my stomach? Shell, thought of you while I was away since I am now about where you were when I got the +ve ! How time flies ! Love all the names you all have chosen. We are debating on them as we don't know the sex, nor do we want to ... I can imagine no greater joy than that moment when they say 'Its a ....!' If it's a boy we have more or less decided on Bernhard Finlay ( after our fathers who are sooo special to us both) and if its a girl I like Veronica or Tatiana ( not after our mothers !) but that's not going down so well with DH , who is convinced its' a boy ! How I will laugh if we have a girl ! Still too early for nursery and now we may be moving again ( if you remember we moved into this house during 2ww and just when we found out +ve !) This house is not so good for a little one, steep stairs and more are worrying .. So we shall see where we end up .. Just what I need now, a move LOL to all inlcuding the bumps ! S

Hey everyone - bumps all seem to be coming along really well

We don't know what we're having either but i've got a growth scan next week (32 1/2 weeks) and i might just be tempted to look. I just wrote out names we are thinking of but had to delete it - i don't mind having baby things in the house but i get really superstitious about saying what names we like!! Silly -eh! DH told his kids one of the names we are thinking about and i had to cross it off the list. You've all chosen really lovely names though. Has anyone else got a pain from a laporoscopy scar? The one in my belly button is really starting to hurt - i guess it's been stretched. Look after those bumps everyone

Hi Lizzy, Nice to hear from you I was starting to panic with this side of the board but nice to see I've woken you all up. I have also had that pain round my belly button and sometimes it is an uncomfortable pain. I did ask my midwife about it and she said it would be where I have had the lap done so try not to worry about it. I hope all goes well when you go for your scan, please make sure you let us all know how it goes. I also have my growth scan on the 5th Dec. Don't you think the days are going really quick Lizzy? there is only a few days between us. Love Shell. 31wks pg xx

I can't believe how quickly it's all gone - when i first found out i was pg, it seemed like such a long time but it's flown by. Can't wait to meet bubs now and i'm really looking forward to the scan - i'm sure it'll be fine. Now i feel like i've jinxed it!!!! Shell - it's all worry, isn't it. Who do you think will be first? Late babies run in my family so it'll probably be you

Hi Girls, Well, got a spare moment to post my update (although Shell and Lizzy know most of this). Everything is going fine, and we know from the 20 week scan we are having a boy - Alexander Nathan James (Xander for short). I can feel Xander move and its a getting stronger each day so Les should be able to also feel it any day soon! I'm a real bargin hunter and nip out in my dinner hours to get lots of nice clothes and stuff on offer, apart from my cot (Stokke Sleepi) and pushchair (Jane PowerTrack 360) and car seat (Jane Matrix) which we have spent a forrrrrrrtune on! But they just appealed more than anything else, so there you go. We're also going green (aren't we Lizzy

) and doing real nappies - well, theory is, and not when out and about probably. (Oooh, Lizzy, I must try to remember to post update on FF - spoke to nice council lady, no money YET, but action group.....) Oh yes - Lizzy you laughed at me and my visions of an exploding belly button, I've not had any pains yet, but by your descriptions it might not have been too far out

But listen to Aunty Fi and stop worrying - you are well on your way now and remember I was first on your case when you joined and you've been fine since! Oh well, back to work - only 8 working weeks, 1 day 4 hours, 19 mins to go (not that I'm counting or anything!!!!) Thanks Dagny for that - its interesting. Although I have a (possibly embarrassing) confession to make. 'Xander' for us comes from Buffy (Yep, thats her, the Vampire Slayer!). Its not that we chose the name after a Buffy Character (honest

), its just we both associated it with what we liked and stuck with it. We'd also decided on Cordelia (also Buffy character) for a girl with the shortening of Lia ('Leah' being an old family name of mine). Anyway, I was named after a musical - the lead role in Brigadoon and was almost named Fiona Liesl (after the eldest girl in Sound of Music) until my aunt said it sounded like a washing powder. We had chosen Bethany for a girl years ago, but then the Corrie character named her kid that and I couldn't stand people asking me was I a fan (especially being a Manc myself) so that went off the list. I stuck to my guns wanting Nathan (Les wasn't over keen) as it means 'gift' which, of course, is exactly what he is. The babyworld web site is good if you want names which have particular meanings. Hi Girls - glad we're all doing OK. Great names - isnt it amazing to actually be able to think of your child with a proper name and everything!! After thinking you'd never even have a child in the first place - it blows my mind to even think that it's me pregnant sometimes!!! I have a laparoscopy scar and it is getting quite tight across the belly button although hasnt started to hurt yet (24 weeks). Had lots of other tummy pains here and there though, nothing too painful just bloatedness sometimes and sharp pains low down which the midwife says are normal, just things moving & stretching - the baby is in a fast growth period at the moment (my stomach has changed so much in the last 2 or 3 weeks). Haven't bought anything yet for Alice, have decided not to start until after Christmas, not because of any superstition or anything just because we're doing a few jobs at home, getting some fitted wardrobes, painting & decorating and can do without extra stuff hanging about. Have looked at loads of clothes though - can't wait to get her that special outfit for bringing her home in !!!!! I will be finishing work at the end of January - have worked for the same firm for 18 years, since leaving school and have always been really career minded - long-hours, keen, etc - now everything has changed and much as I will blubb like an idiot on my last day I now feel so differently and just want to be with my baby and support my husband in his job and concentrate on family life - I NEVER thought I could ever feel like this - pretty powerful stuff this motherhood isnt it???
