Strange Symptom- weak arms in the morning

Post by sharishu »

Hey all-
Got my BFP Dec. 5. Since then, I've had a strange symptom which usually presents itself in the morning. I feel weakness in my arms, and sometimes even achey-ness. Anyone else get this or hear of this as a symptom in early pregnancy? It's freakin' me out a little!

Thanks in advance for any info.

I just got my BFP today! wanted to tell you I also had a couple days I felt weak and achey in my arms in the morning during my 2ww. I never thought of it as a symptom, but never did figure out why they felt that way. Did you find out anything else about it?

Schel,
Congratulations!!! Wow, I was surprised to see that someone finally responded. There was one other person here who I've been cycling with who said she had that symptom once, and she attributes it to an overall weak feeling. It makes sense to me, because in the morning, the first thing I move is my arms, and if I'm weak all over, it makes sense that I'd feel it first in my arms when I lift and stretch them. There were, however, also mornings that they felt 'charlie-horse'-like. But that was only a few times, and could be I slept on them or something.

Anyway, wishing you a wonderful pregnancy and health bab(ies)!!

Introduction

Post by katty101 »

Hi Shari,

My name's elanit, I've been living in NYC for that last 9 years. I feel like we're living parallel lives and I wanted to introduce myself. My husband and I are seriously considering moving back to Israel (I am Israeli). I'm 35 (almost 36!), I have severe endo, damaged tube(s), and very low egg count (most likely due to the endo). I've had 2 failed IVF cycles. 1 Failed IUI. 1 full abdominal surgery. 1 miscarriage and 1 laparoscopy over the last 2 and half years. It's been a nightmare. I'm losing hope.

Is it easier going through IVF in Israel? I am curious about the process there. Part of our consideration for moving is b/c it's supposed to be free. We're not sure if it's worth it for us to keep trying here in the US, since the costs are so high.

Also, I did experience numbness in my right arm during both IVF cycles. Unfortunately, it didn't indicate pregnancy in my case. Good Luck!!

Elanit-
Wow, we really are living parallel lives... I'm 36 on Jan. 4. You said 'almost'... when is your birthday?

To answer your question, I always tell my husband that even if I wanted to go back to NYC, we can't, because we couldn't afford IVF there. In Israel, it really is free. The most you have to pay for are the shots, which probably run, the most, 1000 shekel per cycle. That's the absolute most, really. This is our second cycle, and 'machzika etzba'ot', I'm 6w3d, and have my first scan on sunday!

You have been through so much and it seems hopeless, but it really isn't. It will work out in the end, I really believe that. Also, you did get pregnant once, even with your low egg count. So it will happen again. Did you try acupuncture? I did acupuncture this cycle, and I highly recommend it. I know women much older than us who did not succeed until they tried acupuncture in conjunction with IVF. Anyway, my egg response was also kind of low, but it doesn't matter. You only need one. (I had 2 really good ones transferred, no frozens). I also went through the laparoscopy and a failed cycle, and it's hard, yes. I cried so much when the surgeon told us that my tubes were so damaged that IVF was our only hope. I felt so empty, but I believe there is a reason for everything, and that helped me go on. I realize now there are so many women like us, and we will just appreciate our little babies even more once they are in our arms.

Listen, I am really here for you if you ever need to vent or discuss this. It is very helpful to have other women who understand what you've been through and are going through. Anyway, lots of luck to you! I pray that all "mishalot libech" will be fulfilled soon.

Hopeful in NYC

Post by katty101 »

Hi Shari,

I was so happy to hear back from you. Happy B-day! I'm turning 36 Jan 26. I am stressed out about my age and my situation, since time is not on my side. We're probably not going to be able to make it Israel before May 2009. I'm not sure if I will have to wait six months then to get medical coverage. It's very confusing all of the laws and restrictions on returning residents.

In anycase, I was excited to hear that you are pregnant and will keep my fingers crossed for you!! We got pregnant naturally about two years ago, right after the abdominal surgery, which cleared up the endo for a few months at least. We had alot of confusion about my condition so it wasnt until eight months ago that we finally went to see an RE who confirmed that I had severe endo, did the IUI, laparoscopy, and 2 IVFs. I feel like my situation is a lot worse now than it was even just two years ago, which is why I'm concerned about having to wait until we get to Israel. It really is insanely expensive to do IVF in NYC. You made the right choice about moving back.

Good luck with everything. I would love to keep in touch by normal email.
