So here is something to think about - are there just that many teacher's with fertility issues - or - are we drawn to these types of forums because we are teachers??.... hmmm.
The control freak gene is definitely necessary for the job. Sometimes it does cause a bit of a ruckus out in the real world though - especially when coordinators change their dates by 2 weeks and don't think anything of it. I love myself any kind of calendar, and once it is on there, unless there is an life threatening emergency, it doesn't change on a whim. So my date for my FET is January 17th. Hope it is a lucky date. You can bet your bottom dollar I will be using POAS for a week after.

Hello all! Thought I would check in and say "hi" to everyone. I had my 2nd Beta today. My last one was 4 days ago so if it quadrupled like it was supposed to do, it should have been around 1,300. Well, it was 1,971! :D So, it looks like we are in good shape. With that being said, the clinic closes for the whole week of Christmas and I cannot get my scan until Jan 2nd!!! :? I will be 7 weeks by then!!! That is a LONG time to wait. Oh well, not much I can do about it and I need to quit obsessing about this all anyway. I hardly slept last night worrying about today.

Amy - I feel for you!!! It is so hard to have a life, work, and go through IVF!! I am so blessed that I have an understanding boss and can work from home which gives me so much flexibility. It feels like you live at the doc's office and then everything revolves around your IVF!! So, are they going to go ahead and start you early since you said your FET is on the 17th? I really wish you the best. You have done everything right, so there is every reason to believe this is going to happen for you this time. :) Have you read the book "The Secret"? Someone recommended it to me and I really like it. It has really helped me to think more positive. I just think it is a great book to read when going through this kind of stuff.

Jenn - Don't beat yourself up on the 5 lbs - it is a given during the holidays!! I will probably do that, too and that is ridiculous as I have no excuse at this point.

Vicky - I am glad you are doing well. I worried about you for a few days there, but totally understand why you have been staying away. I think it is kind of hard for me to comprehend that it worked for me on my first try. It just seems like there are so many heart breaking stories out here. I feel very blessed because this is such a difficult process to go through. But girl - you are almost out of your 1st trimester!!! That is awesome!!!! :D

Hope everyone else is doing well!!

hello all - how are we all doing?

Amy glad you have FET all arranged - will it be medicated or drug free - I'm sure all the hard work you have been doing with the chi dr will pay dividends.

Jenn - hope all is tracking along well - not long until we get the next blue stilletto mum.

Fee and Megs - hope the offspring are doing well and you of course too. Have they written you out long and expensive lists for Christmas?

Sassy - having well deserved IVF break - good for you. Bet you are cooking up a storm for the holiday period - what delicious things are you making. Please give me some tips!

Tina O - sorry you have to wait so long for your next scan but at least you have the holidays to distract you.

Vicky - good luck with your scan too. :D
I've been so busy - moving house, unpacking and this week I had to move office too. It made the time go quickly and today was the 12 week scan and had my test for Downs Syndrome. For an oldie like me it has come out well - 1 in 4150 chance so I'm pleased. Of course, ever the worrier I think what if I am the ONE and also what if the result wasn't accurate. Just call me Ms What If from now. Really cool to see the wombat - and he/she was a right pain - wouldn't get into the right position for the measurements so what do you know. ...the ab scan wouldn't work so it was back to the dildo cam! - not impressed by wombat behaviour so far. Plus I had to prodded and probed and my stomach was literally pummelled by the dr to get wombat to move ( womat refused !)

Better do a bit of work today - have achieved nothing so far - what with scans and christmas shopping I have been a waste of space!

Hi ladies!

TinaO: Congrats on your strong beta#s! That is great news!

MP: Welcome to the sisterhood! So did I miss it... or are you still waiting to start your #2 IVF?

Angie: Wow! Your house remodeling was a long time coming! Glad to hear it is finished, and that the dunny is functional:-). Are you still swimming in boxes? Considering you are prego and therefore very tired all the time, shouldn't you be putting on your blue stilettos, sipping a non-alcoholic-non-caffeinated drink with a little umbrella on it whilst watching and directing dh in the unpacking process? Ooooo, don't forget the tiara while you are at it!

Fee: how is Rio/Nogs treating you??? Still a night owl? Another few weeks and hopefully you will have him straightened out. Hmmmm. What have I been cooking? I made Ancho chile spiced pecans to give to friends this year, and I now make a mean Southwestern Turkey Chili in my dutch oven (as a bonus it also freezes real well). When I made it last night, Mr. Sassy invited a few of the male relatives over to try it since he loves it so much. As a result.... NO LEFTOVERS!

Jenn: A "Yard Of Beef"? Hmmmm. Nope, I'm just not going to go there  . I'm liking the clapper and chia pet suggestion:-). What about the new Bourne movie or something like that?

Amy: Ok, I am sufficiently annoyed at your clinic for you :x . Since you recently said again your date is the 17th, I'm assuming that means they will not be moving it up for you? I will just be a few weeks behind you (oooo, I just got butterflies writing that!) as the plan is to transfer on Feb 7th.

Robbo: whatcha' doin'?

Vicky: Step AWAY from the bad/sad prego stories. Only the sisterhood is safe these days

So I again have been oddly absent...
I finally detoxed from IVF and got through IVF withdrawal intact  . I have thoroughly enjoyed my time away from cycling. So much so that it seems eons ago that I did my last cycle. Instead, I became obsessed with exercise. I still haven't lost any weight, but I have gained a lot of muscle, so I figure I must be losing fat from somewhere (although, to my chagrin, not from my hips which are "assy" as my niece still reminds me every time I walk in the room  ). I am now counting down the weeks until I will have to scale back for my cycle. What will I do for my endorphin fix???? I suppose a positive HPT would do the trick

I just finished a few MASSIVE projects for Christmas presents. For example, I made a 2 volume DVD set from our pictures and video we took in Africa. I made it all cool with titles, labels, music, transitions and even "Bonus Features". It turned out really well... but took me FOREVER!!!!

So I will be back on the horse again soon... starting bcps tomorrow and lupron to follow in a few weeks. Lord, give me strength!!!

Good to hear from you Sassy - you sound like mean lean fit machine - good for you. Look forward to following your progress next year.

Just popping in to wish everyone the compliments of the season - have great holidays all. May not be on for a while as we haven't quite got internet up and running at home and I just have a few more hours at work and then I'm outta here til 2 Jan. YAY!

Better go and get some lunch and finish the crimbo shopping. See you in 2008.

PS just had to tell you this - saw my lovely new OB today Dr J - he is great. He told me , following my test result yesterday, my risk for Downs was the same as for a 16 year old girl! I am feeling very pleased with myself and have given me a pat on the back. :D

Good to hear from you Sass! Glad you agreed with me... I get annoyed with schedule changes. I just think they screwed up and I wish they would just admit they should have had me on the BC pills sooner. Anyway, rather than be angry and irritated - completely ruining my CHI, I have decided to work with it and do the FET on the 17th. That being a Thursday and we happen to have a week off the next week to do grades and such - so no students. I can easily sit at home and freak out peeing on sticks while figuring out some D's and F's. I start Lupron on the 22nd. I can almost feel the prick... can't wait. Haven't injected in months. Sounds like we are very close in the FET times. So much pressure here in the sisterhood... can't be the first one to let our perfect record go. Anyone else notice the streak we have going on here?? Was I not supposed to mention it? How about this, if it doesn't work again, I won't tell you and you can all just think I am and it would keep our morale up. I will take one for the team.
Anywho, Angie you take it easy with all the new house stuff. Just rest and let DH take care of the rest. You don't need to be wearing yourself out right now - although if you are like my 16 year olds... then you don't need to listen to that!;)

How is everyone else doing? Nogs still the night owl? If so, you should be online with us US kids. Fee, do you have to go back to work soon??

Well I am off to bed. I am freezing and still fighting this cold. Need to be tip top for vacation tomorrow!!

Night night

Man I havebeen so busy the last few days. I hadn't done any Christmas shopping til just a few days ago, and today I have the Christmas tree up, presents underneath it, and cookies in the oven! (ok, so maybe I am lying about the cookies in the oven...)

Dh and I have been blowing money lately going out to eat, or going out for drinks. He keeps convincing me it is so we can enjoy the time w/o kids since we will be busy with li' ones in 9.5 months!!!

The wicked witch (AF) is here!! Yeah! (Thanks for asking Sassy) So I start my bcp on Sunday and go in on Thursday for the mock trnsfer and IVF class :0) YeaH!! Bring it on!!

On a side note, I am gaining weight!!! I need to kick it in gear and lose 10 lbs this month. (yeah right) But no seriously my pants are getting snugger, and I believe I am forming a muffin top! HELP!

Merry Christmas to all you ladies!

Jenn: so what happened? Did your dh take the Yard of Beef???? Also... I need to know what your nursery is going to look like so I can do some virtual baby shower shopping for you

Meg and Fee: how did the little ones like their first Christmas? I suppose at this age, they probably didn't notice

MP: I had to hire a personal trainer in order to kick my a&& into gear. Problem is that you really can't work out like crazy while cycling. I haven't lost any weight in the last month... but most of my muffin top has disappeared, so that is something. Best thing you could do right now is eat real well and maybe add some weights and light cardio-- ask your RE. I don't remember when your stims start. Good luck. I have found the weight/fat gain hard to shake.

Having a great time with my brother and parents.

Hope you are all well!

Hello Sisters!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! We are finally back in town and are staying put for the next few months. I hope everyone got good loot, and spent time with family and friends. I got mostly stuff for baby.

Dh got a light that you strap on to your head and a dare from the family to put it on when the Dr. tells me it is time to push. Pray for me girls- I've never known him to back down from a double dog dare!!

Amy- your transfer time will be here before you know it! I think you transfer 2 days before we go to baby boot camp!! Hopefully we make it out of both events alive!! It could be good for your students to transfer then- if peeing on a stick is successful maybe they will fair better than F's!!

Sassy- Can't wait for February to get here for you. Dh did not get his yard of beef. I vetoed it! The nursery is a light green with dark cherry wood furniture. I think her bedding is called Sophie at pottery b. kids. It is white with polka dots. Let's see pink curtains, pink hamper... are you getting a good visual for my virtual baby gift? :D

How was the first Christmas for our babies? Meg and Fee did Santa bring a lot for them??

Angie, Vicky and Tina- hope all is well with you. Angie and Vicky you should be out of the first trimester now. How does it feel?

Ok- better get back to work. Talk to you later!
Jenn

Hey there Sista's!!!

I have missed you ALL so much! Welcome to our newbies (probably not so new anymore...)

I hope you all are doing great, congrats on our recent fantastical Big Huge Freakin' Fat Postive's!!! I seriously chair hopped for about 10 minutes! You all are so deserving!!!

I am happy about Nog's big ole welcome into this world, and Lucy's homecoming as well - and I appologize for the delay... I suck as a sista, please don't kick me out!

I appologize for my lengthy absense - I have been pouring myself into work, and I mean pouring, enveloping - drowning... hopefully it'll work because DH's been super slow, and I need to make up the difference!

I miss you ladies (did I say that already?)

We have decided to put IVF on the back burner again - not for medical reasons, or financial, but just for the mental break.

I've been lurking, but not coming up for air long enough to post... I finally am attempting to take a deep breath.

All of my love!

Mel

PS - What do I need to do to be a Sista, again?

How is the wedding planning treating you? Sounds like you are very busy.. how is it going?

Oh, and btw... you can't get rid of us that easily... You are still a sista  !

once a sista, always a sista Mel! Great to hear from you. I have internet working at home ! YAY ! I am sitting in the garden - it is lovely and sunny. Hope you all had great CHristmas - Jenn , I loved hubbie's present - is he really going to take it into the delivery room??!!

Now I must go for a walk and DO SOME EXERCISE. I have eaten so much - am feeling really fat - I have totally lost any fitness I had coz we have been so busy. Now there is no excuse - DH is at work, visitors have just gone - time to go for a walk down to the shops - I am on the look out for a maxi dress - is that the name ?- a long flowing cool dress for the summer. Better go before it gets too hot and I can't move from the couch!

Will be back soon.

Hey girls! I had my IVF class and mock transfer today. Anyone else tired of always being poked and prodded - while the men get to "enjoy" their contribution :x Not fair. Well, at least my RE said my uterus was BEAUTIFUL 8) Oh yeah I've got a beautiful uterus.

Well the Re nurse reminded me this is no time to go on a diet (I start injections on 1/7) - So... not sure how I will lose these 8lbs I gained this semester. I guess I better just continue indulging in brownies, cookies, and prailines - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!!

Have a great week girls - Baby dust all around!

Hello Ladies

Sorry for my long absence...as usual Nogs is caning my ass at the moment. He is still keeping vampire hours and has had a cold. I have spent the last few days freaking out and checking his breathing not to mention pulling snot out of his cute little nose...

In addition to Nogs' antics FIL had an embolism which killed his spleen and my dog got really sick (thought it was a snake bite but now looks like it was a stroke). Vet says doggie could die any day now. It is so devastating...

I don't have time for lengthy personals just at the moment but as Amy suggested I should try to log on in the wee small hours and spend some time with the US sisters in their time zone...

Welcome back Mel, great to hear from you again...I will most certainly be checking out your blog. So what's the gossip???

TinaO congrats on your BFP. Thrilled for you, have you kept all your pee sticks? I have, gross but what the hey, I haven't thrown out my used needles either. Maybe I should save them as ünusual keepsakes for Nogs???

Vicky and Angie, how are we going???? Almost through the first trimester? Phew.

Sass I am on tenterhooks for the grand finale, no one could accuse you of doing IVF the boring way, I think the suspense may kill me.

Amy glad to hear you are cycling soon, if not as soon as you would like. Is it too late for me to get over to your clinic and behead someone (I believe that may be my royal perogative.)

MP I'm with DH I think now is the time to party like it's 1999, don't worry about the muffin top, soon you will be pregnant and that will be the least of your worries.

Jenn, your DH is hilarious, I can just see him with his hat light going in for a closer look at delivery, I'm kind of hoping he does it it will be a classic moment that I'm sure the doctors will appreciate even if you don't...

Robbo??? where are ya???

Mego?? How's Miss Lucy??

i'd better go nogs is calling ... Fee
