Has anyone else started looking for something nice to wear for Christmas yet and found that there is precisely bugger all!

For the last 5 years, because we've been so miserable and low at Christmas, no bugger has dared to invite us anywhere for fear of us putting a dampner on it! This year though, the invites are rolling in thick and fast, now I can't drink, smoke, eat lots of stinky cheeses etc etc, and most importantly, find a bl**dy thing to wear! Everything maternity has got multi-coloured glitter all over it and im going to end up looking like a fibre-optic tree! Saw a gorgeous dress in Mothercare, very feminine and gorgeous in cream and plum, but then have the issue of no f*ing shoes to go with it, and what colour do you put with it! Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And guess what, next year, no bugger will invite us out again because we'll have become baby-bores and they won't want other guests nodding off - this is our only chance to break for freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, hope you're all looking forward to Christmas, in the knowledge that this time next year, our little bundles will all be with us and wondering why the hell mummy and daddy have put the garden in the front room! Its making me all teary just thinking about it! (im ignorning the fact that in 12 or 13 years time, little Herbie will be doing a "Kevin" and spending christmas day in his room being miserable and throwing strops!)

LOL

Rachel
x
Hi Rach,

I know exactly what you mean about finding nothing nice to wear at Xmas. The thing is I have seen that dress also that your talking about in Mothercare but to be honest its like you say what shoes would you wear with it. I ain't got a clue what I am going to wear, I am finding it difficult now because I only have 9wks left well nearly 8 and I don't want to pay loads of clothes if you know what I mean because it will just be a waste of money.

Let me know how things go.
Good Luck.
Love
Shell.
31wks 5d pg
xx
I know what you mean too!!!

Have a look at Blooming Marvellous (web, brochure or shops in large towns) - they are quite reasonably priced, and have some nice unglittery., un-maternity things. I live near Chester and there's quite a nig one there. Because of the shoe situation I was thinking of some trousers with boots and a gold silky crinkly top. I'll be 33/34 weeks over Christmas so don't want to spend stacks on something I'm never going to wear again (I do that anyway when not pregnant).

If anyone finds any good sources of clothes pls let us know!
love Sally xxx

Sorry, but don't have any suggestions as I'm in the same boat as well. JoJoMamanBebe is also a good source of clothes - they have a couple of outfits that would do for Christmas, and the prices aren't too bad.

I guess that there'll be loads of us out there wearing the same things at Christmas - hope we don't bump in to one another!!

Alison xx
Think I'll stick with black trousers and different tops over Christmas but you don't see much it's true that isnt head to toe covered in sequins!!

Feel so lucky that this Christmas things are going to feel so different for some of us, and feel so much for those who are still waiting and thinking "next year, next year", and for those who have had very sad times this year on this site.

For us lucky ones, imagine not having to pretend to be jolly - it's been so many years I've been feeling possibly at the lowest ebb over the "festive" season but of course you have to get on with things and genuinely appreciate what you have and make the best of it for the sake of others and all those other noble things!

This is a bit sentimental but I'm sure others have possibly done similar things - years ago I bought this beautiful advent calender, each door holds a tiny book with Christmas stories about a family of little mice - I have never used it but each Christmas I have sat with it and hoped and hoped (and usually cried!) that one day we'd be able to read those stories to our little one. Well, this year it's coming out on 1st December and I'm going to read them to our little girl, Alice.(even though she won't be born til March). A dream come true.

Waffled on enough I reckon - lots of love, Jo. XXX

Aww Jo, my eyes have filled with tears as I read your post. We're so lucky, you're so right to remind us. Alice will be able to hear you very clearly and I think it's a lovely thing to do, bless you.
Have just found out that a really great friend of mine is pregnant again - she hasn't had fertility problems and has two fantastic little boys, but has also had 3 miscarriages, and is a haemophilia carrier (thankfully her boys are well) so I'm keeping everything crossed for her. Reminded me that just because conception is straightforward doesn't necessarily mean the endless worrying is avoided. Love to all + bumps,
Beck x
In the same boat too, but have seen some really nice dress trousers (satin seam) and some lovely un-frumpy style tops in Next Maternity wear - worth a look!

Good luck! I can't wait for Christmas this year, and for once won't be rumaging under the tree to feel my presents, the best one EVER is neatly tucked inside my belly!!!

D x

Jo, your mice/advent calendar story made me cry. It is a wonderful thing to finally be able to revel in being pregnant/motherhood. Enjoy every single second.

Can you remember where you bought the book? It sounds gorgeous.

thanks
Debra.
