Good morning ladies!
a wee bit of venting here.....
so went out w Dh last night, and, well, we've not really talked about the ivf stuff for a bit- just kinda cruising along waiting for january and the start of everything - and he starts in about - "what if it doesnt work" and "how far should we go with this thing" - i mean fu%# seriously??? I am so uninterested in discussing the possibility of this NOT working i could spit! I am of the opinion that it will work, and if for some unknown reason it doesn't - we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. GRRRRRR! insensitive DH -
and then when we were talking to a very close friend later in the evening and told him about our ivf journey, dh told him that it's due to our ages, and we'd probably eventually get a bfp but we can't wait around for things to happen - hmmm? really? I thought it was b/c of yer pointy sperm!!!! but I held my tongue
and now I am spewing it all out to you - so thanks fer listening -
I mean... it's all good, just sometimes I think fellas are a little clueless - think it would be different if they had babies???
1 day closer...

Hi Ladies!
Thanks for the welcome.

rio: thanks for updating that list! You are awesome. I know what you mean about this board being addicting. The best way to learn is from someone who has gone thru it. There is SO much info out there, this board has been the best resource!

waiting: My fresh cycle was April/May of 2006. We have 4 frosties. I think I feel like time is ticking by way too fast. I don't want to miss out on any "windows" I may have, ya know?

Got my meds yesterday...definitely not as intimidating as the first batch! Looks like Lupron, then progesterone (I hated those shots!) and estrogen patches. And something else, I forgot the name of, but I will look up what it is.
(How did people go thru this before the internet??)

loopie: your venting made me chuckle. You are right, I don't think most dh's really understand. I remember when we discussed whether or not we would try again, my dh said, "I don't think I can go thru it again." ummm, what? what exactly did he "go thru"??
Maybe if they took sympathy shots, or something...ha.

Beth - that is great - poor dh's have to go into a room watch a porno and do the deed - wha wha wha !! I think God chose women to carry the babies b/c he knew he clearly could not trust men!!

Loopie: I was wanting to vent today too - so I am glad you opened the door: I was trying to find a parking space close to the store, pull up and staring me in the face is a damn expectant mothers sign  . I almost parked there just to spite the stupid store - but then I moved my car to another place. Jeez.

Rio: My calendar I was given only goes to 1/14 when I am supposed to call when I start my period, but I guess I should be on your schedule. My doctor will be doing a day 5 ET though.

Everyone else: kepp up the positive attitude. With my last IVf I just didn't feel like it was going to work - but this time I am letting myself dream about the nursery room  .

My nurse emailed and said she is ordering me (through Freedomdrug):
Gonal F 900 units x2
Lupron 2 week kit
Ovidrel 250
PIO 50 mg/ml x3
I think this turns out to be about 2000$ - Not bad! I hope she orders it this year - but it looks like it will be next - I was hoping to write off this IVF this year - but I guess if it is next year that is fine b/c I can add the cost of delivery and all :D

I am trying to figure out what to do about a job. I have been just working part-time teaching English at a college - but Dh is going to be finishing up his degree this semester and will need to be out of work for a few months  . The problems is is that if I get a full-time job I am stressed about taking off in the morning for u/s and giving myself the PIO shot between 7-10 am. How do you girls manage to do this at worK? I am also not wanting to stress. Last IVF I had so much stress with problems in dh's family I am positive this is a strong reason why it didn't work. Ugh - what to do, what to do. I am also looking into teaching online. Ok, thanks for letting me whine a bit. . Hope everyone has an expectant mother parking spot free day!!!

Hi girls!

Lopie- I am glad you can vent to us! Men tend to be problem solvers I guess and tend to be less emotional. He probably does feel bad about it, just tell them to be thankful for in vitro cause in the old days - you would have to go sleep with the mailman ;) hope I didn't offfend you, I was joking with my DH abouu tit because our infertility is due to his sperm count and motility. He had cancer a few year back and the chemo has done a number on his swimmers. I get really down sometimes because my poor DH has an evil ex wife who got pregnant right away before his cancer - talk about no fair! He probably does also feel bad you have to do all the shots etc... men just aren't good at knowing how they feel or letting it out...

I do have a good feeling about this, it is our first time but I somehow thinnk it will work, if not we signed up for a second one already. And we will go for another one, and if that doesn't work we will do thh sperm donor thing. My family lives in another country so it is really hard for me o be here without their support. I love DH's mom and dad but since she already has a granddaughter by him she doesn't seem to care if we get preggo or not.

I really hope that his year brings us all our little miracles :) positive thoughts- don't let your hubbies drive you nuts!

Mia - good luck with everything seems like you have a ton going on in your life riggt now.

Hi everyone. I am new and am in the process of starting IVF. We have recently failed 3 IUI's and felt that due our age it would be best to move on to IVF, now. I have had to change docs and clinics this week after doing the day 3 bloodwork and starting the bc pills...due to it being fully covered by insurance at a clinic 45 minutes from home. The new doc has already scheduled us for the consultation on Jan 2 and I expect that we wont loose a month and will be able to continue where the other doc left off. Yayy! AF is due around Jan 17th...I am expecting ER Jan 27-30. :D

Welcome Tammy and Katie! (Katie is this your first IVF?) I hope ya'll find this to be a place of encouragement where you can just be real and not guarded as we IFers sometimes have to be in the "real world". Good luck! Baby dust all around!!

My first try

Post by amy27 »

Hello,
I am assuming that you guys are across the pond.. I am in Los Angeles. It is my first time trying IVF and I start my Lupron on Jan 4th! I certainly hope that the injections don't make me feel the way these birth control pills do! I feel sort of possesed right now and was wondering if anyone else felt that way? I hate needles so I am a little scared. Anyone else on a similiar cycle? Would love to share experiences..

I did my lupron shot on 12/28 and i will tell you I have had the worst headache EVER all day yesterday and woke up with it this morning. Im kinda wondering if its going to be worse when i start the twice a day shots? Anyone else feel funny? Other then the headache i feel fine.

Thanks riogirl71 and waitingforMia.
Hi and Welcome Katie and Amy.

I had no problems with the follistim injections...the needle was small and I got used to it. But like you, Amy, I am scared too of the "Big" needles. I suppose it will be just something to get used to, too. The birth control pills dont feel like anything strange to me, yet. I have been on them for a week so far. You might want to check with your doc if it becomes a real concern.

Katie...I hope your headache gets better. My doc allows tylenol and believe it or not vicodin. I just had back surgery in Nov and stopped taking them for IUI...when the doc told me vicodin (crazy as it sounds) is even safe for pregnancy. I was still stubborn and only have taken only 1 a couple of times since for really bad days. My point is check with your doc for solutions ....he may have one for you.

Good Luck everyone and Baby Dust all around. :D

Hi higgins237 and welcome. I havent been down IVF lane yet (that is next month)...but can certainly understand being excited and scared to death. You will have to let us know how it goes and what to expect. I am sure someone else here will be able to answer your questions, though. I just wanted to say Good Luck and lots of Baby Dust to you. :D

Hi Ladies and welcome to Tammy, katie, higgins, amy - and a great good morning the rest of you fabulous breeders!
I'm trying to keep my chin up- it's been sort of weird -seeing lots of friends, some who know what we're going through, some whom I refuse to tell, and others that -try as they might -will never understand. and being that it's the holidays, there are lots of parties, dinners, gatherings -and I have no excuse for getting out of them!
yes, Amy- I am starting to get very irritated on BCP- I will be entering my 5th week straight today and I have not been able to shake this headache since saturday (and I have some pretty powerful meds thanks to my back surgery  ) - hope you'll not have to take them too long!
DH is being sweet again, but I am still a bit pissed at him for bringing up the "what if...." crap- I was 100% sure we'd have no problem with getting a BFP on our 1st try - now I'm not so sure  - I want to go into this with my cup (and uterus  )half full.
some friends are just super, but...
I told a close friend - who is 50 w/ no children by choice - what we are doing-and I know she means well, but her "support" is almost worse than if I'd never told her :?
I am ready -Babies all Around!!
have a great rest of the year!

Wow so many new people!! Welcome Amy and Higgins,

Amy: Unless there is a pond between CA and TX - then no :) I think most of us on this thread are in the US. I haven't had any probs with BCP - but I have only been on them for 2 weeks.

Katie: the only side effect I remember is itching - and moodiness with the injections.

Tammy: I am with you the little needles don't scare me, but I hate looking at the long one. I actually don't mind shots if I have faith in the oerson giving them to me - Not sure if I am that confident in dh!

Higgins: Expect to be a bit moody throughout the injections. This is a great place to vent. Sometimes dh's don't understand and don't know how to deal with it.

Loopie: That is exactly why I decided not to share our IVF with anyone this go round. I didn't really find anyone who acted exactly how I wanted them to , so for me - this board is enough support. I hope everyone has a real life friend they can talk to - I am jealous :) My dh was very negative on the first one, but this one he is so positive it really helps. Just tell your dh (when you aren't pissed) that whether or not he is confident and positive to act that way with you b/c it does make a huge difference.

Well the clinic emailed and said they are ordering the meds today, so I should be able to pay for them today if they are open. And the finance company paid the clininc this year - so I can write it off :) I think I have spent about 14000$ on medical expenses this year - woohoo write offs. I start injections in a week! I will celebrate this one week before the injections.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year's! I hope this is the last New Years I can drink

Baby Dust in the new year!!!
