Ah, the saga of the MILs!

About the sex thing, I can sort of understand where your DH is coming from, momma2be. Not to provide TMI, but when my DP was preg I felt weird about having sex w/her. She seemed so, well, MATERNAL. The whole thing was kinda surreal/strange. Now that I am preg, I am definitely in the mood for sex but am not allowed to partake b/c of my OHSS. :( Maybe I'll get the OK from my OB on 1/2, we'll see. my sex drive has increased DRAMATICALLY since I've been pregnant. Anyone else find this to be the case?

Oh thank god Seltzer...I thought I was the only one. Since DH and I cannot have sex (same problem as you) and I seem to have packed my "tools" elsewhere and I can't even imagine which box it is, I am climbing the walls.

Although to be honest, I am too tired at night to be sexy. I think the maternal thing has set in for me too. I am very protective of this womb.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...don't mess with a pregnant momma. Especially a hormonal one on fertility drugs still. :P

Hi Ladies,
I haven't been able to post since before Christmas and it looks like I've missed about 2 pages of updates. I hope everyone is doing well -it sounds like you all are except for the occasional cold. Seltzer, I was sorry to read that you lost one of your twins. I know that's got to be both sad & scary. The same thing happened to a lady I know both times she had IVF and she had 2 very healthy babies after the "disappearing twin."
I still haven't had my first scan. That's on Jan2. The suspense is killing me. I feel like everything is going to be OK, but I'd sure like to know that for sure.
DH has kept me super busy this past week. We went 3 hours away to my parents last Sunday for an early Christmas, then about 1 hour south of that for Monday & Tuesday for Christmas with his family. We were home long enough to wash some clothes on Wed, then went 3 hours the opposite direction to the beach. We stayed at the beach until yesterday. I was so tired by the time I got home last night I slept for 12 hours.
I'm getting MS everyday, but not in the mornings. It usually starts around lunch time and gets much worse by the evening.
I had to laugh at all the MIL complaints. Mine is also crazy. She just got a new dog before Christmas and it bit 3 people Christmas Eve night. She walked around crying because no one seemed to like her new dog -wonder why!
Shari -it was so nice to get the message from you. I hope you are over your cold now and also hope you had a great holiday too. Is Hanukah as big of a holiday?
It's so good to be back home! I'm actually looking forward to going back to work tom and getting back to my routine.

Hi Ladies
Just a quick one from me. I just realised how long it is since I posted on here. Sorry, I have been reading and keeping up with everyone.
Not much going on here, just really tired and still trying to shake off a cold.
I can't believe I'm nearly 9 weeks already
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and has a

Rebecca,
Hey, I missed you girl! Well, you MADE it through the holidays, and now you're home again, safe and sound. Yay! As far as Hanuka, it's a big holiday (lasting 8 days), and we also get together with family. Some families make a huge deal over gifts, and some don't. We're not so much into the big gifts, but it's still a happy, fun holiday. Just 2 more days till your US (I remembered). Believe me, I feel your anticipation. I AM glad to hear about your MS. Not about the yucky feeling you are having, but it's a good indication that things are going well, please G-d! I really do wish you the BEST of luck for your ultrasound, and it really sounds like all is fine :)

Su,
I am still getting over my cold as well. I was home all week, barely got out of bed. Went back to work today and I was exhausted the whole time. Hope we are both feeling 100% really soon. Be well.

Take care everybody!

Happy Anniversary 2nd! How exciting, I hope you and the hubby have a nice dinner at home! If you're like me, you won't even see the clock turn midnight.

I went in for my first Ultrasound and they saw one sac, so it's one baby and it appears to be a week behind. They couldn't find a heartbeat but they factor that it might be too early?

Has this happened to anyone else?

I guess I would be at the 5 week mark and not the 6 week mark as previously thought.

I am trying not to worry...but as you all know, it just comes with the turf.

momma2be - What did your RE's office say about the u/s results? If you are truly 5 wks, then that (I think) is too early to detect a hb. Meantime stay as calm and positive as you can...it's one of those "hurry up and wait" situations. Put your feet up and relax.

2ndtimer - nice to meet you, so to speak, & thanks for the kind words on my twin. My MS sounds similar to yours...it's worse toward dinnertime and into the evening. So by about the time I am going to bed I feel like I'm going to puke. Congrats on your anniversary.

I have an u/s today...am a little nervous. The OB scheduled it to check on the status of the non-viable twin and to reassure me about the other one. Let's hope it does just that.

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone.

Good luck Seltzer and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reassurance. I am trying to remain positive...and lying down a lot. Don't need to convince me of that! :P

I think my nurse is a bit of a ditz, she says things that she shouldn't. Like comments like, "Well it's in god's hands now." Which yes, I do agree...but can I please one of the doctor's hands in it too??? I was asking if I had reason to worry when my girlfriend told me that I should be tested for fifth disease because her daughter had it when I visited her. I could have had a blood test to make sure but she said it's in God's hands. Ugh!

I just took a nice long walk...it helped to relieve me of my worries.

Let us know how it went for you!

Momma2be-
I'm sending positive thoughts your way. May your next ultrasound bring a strong heartbeat to put your worries to rest.

momma2be -

"It's in God's hands"?!?!!?! I think I'm going to scream!! That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Obviously God isn't the only being involved here or the fertility clinics woudn't be making any $$. That reminds me of something my dr. said to me. When my OHSS was really bad but I was pregnant I said to him, "This will all be worth it" or something to that effect, and he said, "Well, hopefully..." What a MAJOR downer that guy was. Mr. Negative.

Hi Mom2be,
It sounds like they got you in fairly early for the U/S. I've read that sometimes the heartbeat can't even be detected until around 7 weeks. Try to stay positive & ignore what the nurse says. That's one thing I've learned(and I am a nurse). I think we are all kept in the dark so much during IVF that we start to hang on every word we get from the nurses & MD's.
Good luck to you too Seltzer on your U/S today.
Shari, as always, it's so nice to hear from you.

Well the nurse called with my HCG numbers that I requested she get for me since we did not see a heartbeat...they went from 413 to 513. Not a significant jump and it should have jumped after a week.

They think I am going to miscarry. (at least that is what the nurse said)

I don't know what to do.

Momma2be: I am not quite sure what to say....Don't give up yet...Can you ask to speak to your RE? You may just have a slow bloomer...just try to relax the best you can and keep thinking positive thoughts..(I know easier said than done) I will be sending positive vibes your way.

Rebecca: Congrats on your anniversary!! What a gift you have to celebrate!! My DH and I are going to stay in and watch a boat load of movies and eat pizza! I can't think of a better way to ring in the new year...however..probably will not make that long....my bedtime has been between 8 and 8:30 lately

I too went for my first ultrasound today...we have one little nugget in there..(the nurses and the RE were convinced we were having twins) It is measuring 6 weeks 2 days with heartbeat of 125 bpm :D my projected due date is August 23rd....Sounds HOT!!

I hope everyone has a good newyears eve and wonderful new year full of many joys!!

Thanks Mary Beth and CONGRATS on your news! What a relief for you!

I go back on Wednesday for another blood test and U/S to see if there is any new development.

I will remain positive and will this baby to stay in there.

Thanks again!
