Beta Levels at a Standstill

Post by momma2be »

Hi everyone...

Just wanted to say that I had joined the August Bump watch group after I got my positive result but now I am worried.

Just had my fourth HCG and an U/S and the results were a mix.

I did my first IVF (insemination) on December 6 with a 3 day transfer.

Beta test #1 (Dec.18) @ 30
Beta test #2 (Dec.20) @ 66
Beta test #3 (Dec.24) @ 413
Beta test #4 (Dec.31) @ 517

As you can see the beta test #3 to test #4 did not double or anything.

The nurse said the sac was small and possibly not going to grow anymore and since the beta levels were not increasing or doubling by much then it's probaby going to miscarry.

Any thoughts or hope? Maybe it was a late bloomer implant as the nurse had first suggested but then her second call to me was doom and gloom.

I have another beta test and U/S on Wednesday and that is when the decision will be made. Even if the beta levels increase, should I insist to the doctor that we wait another week and do another test?

I keep thinking that most women who experience "normal" pregnancies don't even go to their doctor's and have U/S until their 8-10 week of knowing they are pregnant. I know we are monitored more closely because of what we have been through.

Maybe I am grasping at straws...but someone hit me on the head with reality.

Thanks!!!
