Worry worry worry, I swear that's all we do is wait and worry! I had my first u/s last Friday, which I think was way too soon. We did a day 5 transfer on 12/5. Anyway, we could clearly see the gestational sac, which measured about 1.16cm(which I think converts to 10mm), but they couldn't identify a yolk sac...yet. They said that from these measurements I was technically 5weeks 6days preggo. My next u/s is this Thursday afternoon...which, as you know, can't get here soon enough.

I'm just really hoping it was too soon to see anything on the u/s, I was a wreck for a few hours on Friday. My Dr never mentioned anything about retesting my hcg levels. My SIL had her father (a Dr) call in a b/w order for me for Saturday morning...we're sneaky, I know. And my numbers seemed right on the money:

Beta #1 12/14-86
Beta #2 12/16-166
Beta #3 12/19 - 583
Beta #4 12/29 - 12,625 (sneaky test - shhhh)

I know that the placenta does excrete hcg, but I'm just wondering if it alone could be responsible for doubling my levels? Anyone know?

momma2be - I am praying for you and your little one. I am really upset to hear the news, but hang in there. Sometimes there are late bloomers, it's true, as MBG said.

MBG - congrats on your u/s results--excellent news. Yes sirree, August is going to be HOT HOT HOT. Ugh, will not be fun when we all are huge and uncomfortable. I am just glad I'm in BOston & not Arkansas, LOL.

My u/s went well today, whew. Baby is measuring correctly and hb was good (173). I could see its head and its LEG! It was moving all over the place and kicking. Unreal!

Hope everyone has a safe New Year's Eve & Day.

Hey dancinnancy - somehow I managed to miss your post when I read through them. If you are 5 wks6 days I do think it's a bit early to make any judgments, from what I've learned and from what I've seen other people go through. I don't think the placenta could be responsible for producing those kinds of hCG #s...especially since the placenta is not fully formed and functional until week 9 or 10 or something. Good for you for getting the sneak beta level. A friend of mine has two children through IVF...with the second one her 1st beta was so low they told her it was a chemical preg. Her levels rose, so they gave her a 6 wk u/s, at which time they saw no heartbeat (I'm not sure what else they saw but it didn't look good). They told her she wasn't really preg. Well anyway, she has an 18 month old now. The experts can only guess sometimes. So we are rooting for you!

Momma2be-
You have the right attitude. Continue being strong and thinking only pregnant thoughts. Remember, you're 'pregnant until proven otherwise', and your beta number did continue in the positive direction. Try to relax, breathe, and think about all us women pulling for you. Good luck :)

Thanks Shari - I barely slept last night. A few hours here and there and of course you're going through your mind what did I do wrong?

One more day to go through...then I have my 2nd U/S and HCG levels tested again.

I keep praying that this was a late bloomer and implanted later than the other two.

But we shall see...I keep praying to the baby to keep growing. But now this is in God's hands and can't be in the doctor's hands.

How many of you stayed up past midnight to greet the New Year? I was asleep by 10am and woke up at 12:30am to kiss my DH and then went back to sleep. :P

Hi momma2be - I did actually see midnight although more by accident than design. I went to bed at 10pm but was woken by the neighbours party in time to watch the fireworks out of my bedroom window then went back to sleep.
You are in my thoughts and I really hope everything looks ok at your next scan.

Thanks Squeeze...I am feeling a bit more positive and my girlfriends have really reached out to me in a rain of support as all of you have. It is more appreciated than you realize.

The more I read on the internet, which as you know gives you conflicting information. I tend to lead towards the more supportive ones that gives me the answer I want. >evil smile<

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year everyone! I actually stayed up past midnight and celebrated over at my best friend's house with a few friends. So much to celebrate from 2007 - I ran my first marathon, got a new job after 10 years at my old one, and am pregnant!!! Makes for quite a year if you ask me! :D My u/s is tomorrow and of course, my nerves are getting to me. This will be my 7 week appt so we should be able to see the heartbeat. Wish me luck! :)

momma2be - you hang in there, girl! Do you sometimes wish that just for once you could just have a normal pregnancy and not stress and worry and wonder all the time??? I know I do!!! That is what SUCKS about IVF - the worry never ends!!!! But hey - you just have to be positive and think that there are a million different stories on the internet (as you have already seen!!!) and isn't it amazing how many different answers you see?? My RE once laughed when we were going through IUI's and were asking him some questions and he just shook his head at one point and laughed. Then he looked right at us and still with a smile on his face said, "You know, we are just doctors. We don't know everything. The textbooks tell us things, our expereince tells us things and we do the best we can. However, we are dealing with the human body and anything can happen". Then we all just kind of laughed because I think it hit my husband and I just how true that is!! I mean, you never know. You are dealing with the human body of which anything is possible!! We love our RE because he is so honest. And it is so true!!! It was like he just threw his hands up in the air and laughed. His honesty was a blessing at the time as we were trying to sort through everythng. So, here is what I say.....Screw that nurse!!! We are going to will that little baby to hang in there and then you can walk in and snicker when you get your good results!! :D It reminds me of when one of my IUI's failed and the nurse called me to tell me that it was negative and oh - I can stop taking the progesterone suppositories. Like NO SH-T!!!! I thought I would just keep taking them for a while because they were so much fun. I am so glad she pointed that out to me!!! Not to mention, I am sure my husband found them to be such a turn on when he saw me heading to the bathroom fresh from plucking one out of the fridge!!!  (hope that made you laugh!)

Su - Happy New year!!! I was just thinking back on my IUI days and just thinking that I admire you for sticking it out and now look at you!!! 9 weeks pregnant!!!! So happy for you!!!! You are progressing so well!! :D

Sharishu- Happy New Year to you as well! Are you finally over your cold? I have been fighting to keep one away from me for weeks. We have something terrible in the air down here in Texas this time of the year called mountain cedar and it is potent!!! It is making so many people feel terrible right now....me included!! When is your next u/s, by the way?

2ndtimer (Rebecca) - Good luck tomorrow!!! Looks like we both have an u/s tomorrow. Think positive and let's hope the new year kicks off just right for us both tomorrow!!! :D I will say an extra prayer for you!

seltzer - OMG! I can't believe you could already see so much on your u/s!!! So cool!!!! That had to put your mind at ease!!! I believe you should be feeling very positive at this point!!!! Happy New Year! :)

Lastly to my friends MBG & dancinnancy - Happy New Year!!! MBG, you have got to be feeling very blessed right now. You are just right where you need to be - little baby growing nicely and with a very strong heartbeat - sounds like a potential athlete if you ask me!!! :D And dancinnancy - you hang in there!!! I know Thursday feels like a million days away, but I will be praying for you that good news comes for you on the yolk sac!!! I mean, everything else looks great - surely the yolk sac is on its way!!! Yep, that has to be the case!!!! Think positive and we will all be here cheering you on!!! :D

Ok, I am off, but best wishes to everyone!!!! This is going to be OUR year!!!

Hello all,
Well, I am feeling mighty bloated. No matter how healthy I eat, or even if I haven't eating for a few hours, it feels like I just ate a Thanksgiving dinner! And I walk around exhausted and as if I am wading through jello. Not complaining, just sharing my first trimester experience.

Tina,
Thanks so much for asking.. I am feeling a lot better, and getting back to my regular self. I was CRACKING up about your progesterone comment, about wanting to keep taking them because it's 'so much fun'. My husband always tells me they look like little bubble gum pellets and we joke about him trying some to see if it's really similar  . LOADS of luck to you on your ultrasound tomorrow. Hope you see your little wee one's heart beating away. It's really something. I saw mine twice already, and keep staring at the u/s pics in awe.

Rebecca,
Good luck to you too sweety! Hope you had a happy new year with hubby at home. I was sleeping (and so was hubby), and 2007 slipped away very quietly for me. I know what you're thinking, we must be quite the exciting pair  . Anyway, I will definitely be thinking of you tomorrow, and praying for a successful ultrasound experience. I am sure it will go well for you (and Tina), and just looking forward to hearing about it. It's really awesome, and I'm excited for you :)

Happy 2008 to all August Bump Buddies! Here's to happy, healthy, joyous pregnancies to one and all. *clink*.

Shari, I know just how you feel. I feel full after the smallest meal and am so tired. I've done nothing today and am bored out of my mind but haven't had the energy to do anything about it. Got to go back to work tomorrow but not sure how I'm gonna last the day.

Is anyone else feeling tearful? I don't know where its come from but suddenly today I want to cry at everything on tv (just blubbed through Eastenders! )

Tina, good luck for tomorrow. 2007 was quite a year for you but 2008 will be even better!

Well, best go to bed now - got to be at work in 12 hours

Thanks Tina! I am being very positive and I know all my family, friends and you guys are sending positive waves for me and the baby. I keep thinking that I am going to prove that nurse wrong.

I will let you guys know tomorrow either way. I have my appointment in the morning and will have the results by tomorrow afternoon when they call with my beta levels.

Good luck to everyone else who are having their beta levels checked and first or second U/S!

Hello and Happy New Year everyone!!

I ended up going to bed @ 10:30..my dh stayed up but fell asleep on the sofa before midnight..we too sound like a fun pair huh!

We just got back from dads for a fabulous lobster celebratory dinner...i am feeling really bloated right now! However, I guess I have been lucky in that i normally do not feel so bloated....just the waves of ms.....

TinaO:Thank you for all of your well wishes...it was so great seeing that little heartbeat! I still keep staring at the U/S picture and can't stop smiling! :D :D Maybe we do have a little athelete in there!! I can't wait to feel the flipping around in my belly! :D
Good luck tomorrow! I know how nerve racking it is! I just know everything is going to be fabulous! You must post ASAP!!

I have a question...when I enter in my ER dates in the pregnancy calculator it states that I am 6 wks 6 days pregnant but during my ultrasound the nurse said the baby is measuring 6 wks 3 days...I know this is just a matter of 3 days...should I change my ticker, or is there a chance the baby will catch up...I know this sounds silly...but just curious..

Momma2be: GOOD LUCK tomorrow! I will be sending all kinds of positive vibes your way!! I am proud of you for maintaining your positive atitude! We are all rooting for you and your wee one!!

Rebbecca: Good luck to you tomorrow as well!! You must post ASAP! I want to hear all about your little bean!!

2008 is our year ladies!!

Thanks MBG!

If your RE measured your baby a little behind it could be because of the size of your wee one and perhaps it implanted 3 days later than what was expected. Just like my nurse thought I had implanted about a week later than what was expected.

I am not sure how many embryos you implanted but as my girlfriend told me its not like synchronizing swimming, they do not all dive into your lining at the same time. Sometimes they take their time. Which is what I am hoping for tomorrow.

Hope that helps!

Althought this will make you laugh, I just had a dream that a baby and several strangers told me I am miscarrying with a blighted ovum. It's probably true or it's just my mind playing tricks on me because I have been reading so much on the internet in the past two days.

All I can do is pray.

I will let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Quick post as work has me swimming upstream right now!!! Had my u/s this morning and the baby was measuring right at 7 weeks! We got to hear and see the heartbeat and the heart rate was 124!! I was so excited. I started crying, then laughing, then just staring in disbelief. My husband seemed mesmerizied by it all as well!!! Anyway, just very happy right now and feeling very blessed. Whew.... :D :D :D
