Hello Everybody,
It is so nice to see that everyone is progressing well, even with contractions. I too am afraid that i won't recognize my contractions when they come, but I am hoping that because i am having a scheduled c section may be i will avoid them all along. Wishfull thinking huh
I have not bought anything for the baby yet, but my step mother in law bought some outfits ( newborn stuff) and my mother in law made a very nice banket.
Also, one of my friends ( who is very wealthy) gave me 3 bags of clothing from her daughter ( she is only 1.5 years old) and the clothes are amazing, burbury, Christian dior , adidas and a bunch of other good stuff, my God, i could not believe she was giving it all to me, some of them still had tags on!!!! I personally don't see the point of spending that kind of money on baby clothing, but i guess if i had as much money as she does, may be i would , but i seriously doubt that though. She is also giving me her bassinett, which was only used ones or twice. My baby is pretty much set on clothing untill she is over a year old.
However, I am very cautions buying anything myself untull 24 to 26 weeks, i completely agree with Cocoa and Woodcliff, you just never know what is going to happen.
Lisa, you are in y thoughts and prayers, good luck with your interview!
Well, good luck to all of us!!!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't written for so long, but it's been a busy time over Christmas! We're away at relatives so been difficult to get onine. Even now I'm borrowing a PC so gonna have to be really brief!

I'm doing fine!! No more problems since the infection a few weeks ago and a week of antibiotics. I've been signed off work (again!) by my doc so am now not due back to work until the 7th Jan, so have just been taking it really easy. My belly is now HUGE (at 21 weeks I am about the same size as my friend who is due anytime now) and I love walking around with those nice belly hugging maternity tops!

I get really tired so am making sure I don't do too much. My DH won't even let me do the shopping bless him!

I'm booked for my 20 week scan on New Years Eve (it's actually going to be 22 weeks) and it's been so long since the last scan. I've also booked for a 4D scan on the 3rd Feb (will be 26 weeks) and can't wait for that!

Anyway will write properly once I get home and hopefully post some piccies from my 20 week scan.

Sorry no time for personals... Lisa have been thinking of you and hope you are doing ok.

Speak to you all soon,

Hayleyx xx

Hello Everyone!!!!!

Sorry I haven't posted. Things have been going great here. I have my 20 week scan scheduled for Jan. 3rd, but I did one of those sex determination ultrasounds at 16 weeks (they couldn't tell) and 18 weeks. We are 80% sure that it is a girl! We should have confirmation at the 20 week scan. We are really excited!!!!!!!! My husband was initially really hoping for a son, but now he is so excited about a daughter that he says he would be disappointed if he now found out it was a boy! I doubt this baby could ever disappoint either of us! :-)

We went out after we found out it was a girl and purchased a few outfits. Nothing much, a few Daddy's little cupcake, etc outfits & girls Notre Dame, Cubs, and Sox outfits to go along with the boy Cubs and Notre Dame outfits that my husband is also insisting that she can wear! :-) Oh well, I guess I don't care what she wears as long as she is healthy! We have been looking at bedding and I found an adorable set at Burlington Coat Factory. It is between the Tender Hearts set there and this cute Lady Bug set from Babies 'R Us. I may buy the set from Burlington because I have a 20% off coupon that is only good through next week and that is a significant savings. I can always return it.

I saw an ad for a crib that opens in back so you can slide out the mattress for easy changing. Has anyone seen that? I am very interested in that! My in laws have offered to buy us our crib and that will help us out! I am going to look for the book that Woodcliff suggested! Suggestions like that are so helpful!!!

It is so nice to hear from everyone! Lisa, I think of you and your husband every day. I know you will be pregnant again soon!

:-) Michelle

Hi Gals!!!

Soooo great to hear from you all who have posted!!!

Well, I am in a medium pants from motherhood (but even all my sweats and PJs still fit!) but I have to buy a large on top because my bbs have gotten soooo big I swear they weigh 10 pounds EACH! and the tops that pull under the bbs don't quite get under my bbs hence the large size. Of course the sleeves are hanging and the tops are mid-thigh - it's pretty funny but I feel so huge. At last measurement almost a week ago I am measuring 30w. I have gained almost 25 pounds (probably more by now as that weight was on the 17th.

I have good days and bad days and yesterday was a bad day indeed with contractions starting at 5am. I know a few of you have said you might not recognize contractions but believe me you will. It is any tightening of the uterus. Mine are on the bottom of my uterus but yesterday they just started there and then moved up until my whole uterus was hard as rock. It happened every time I was on my feet. Usually they are nothing to worry about as the uterus is just "practicing" for the real thing but sometimes the contractions can change the cervix length so its best to ask your doctor to check at each visit and by now we should all start to be scheduled for visits every 2 weeks. The best way to determine cervical length is via transvaginal U/S.

So I am having a decent day today and I will be heading off to WalMart to use my baby wipes, baby diaper, baby desitin, baby shampoo, baby lotion (you get the idea) coupons since my dad gave me a WalMart gift card for Christmas. I have to stock up now as I know I won't get out of the house for a month after these critters come. I am not buying any clothes since I need to go through all the clothes I have from my son (not much really) and see what I need. Newborns go through onesies but if you're not going out they don't need to wear much so watch the purchase of the tiny clothes ladies... you'll wind up with clothes with tags on them to give away/sell just like Vlada's friend. I have a friend whose DH imports fine baby clothes from France and they have 2 girls (3 and 5) and she is willing to give me baby clothes for my girl which will be awesome.

My 3D/4D U/S is on Jan 22 when I am 26w so that will be a good day since I will be a viability and get to see the babies too.

Sciteacher - how are you doing in your master's program? Will you be able to finish before the baby comes? What state are you in? I am a NY and NJ certified teacher and NJ certified supervisor but I work with teachers and not in the classroom with the kids everyday. The nice thing is that I am an Early Chidlhood specialist and at this point in my career I am pretty knowledgeable about child development and that will help with the terrible twos and threes a lot!

WC - so you feel big? Well, so what I say!!! What difference does any weight gain make when our dreams are coming true right? You have the right perspective... I gained 44lbs with my son so I can get quite large with this pregnancy but I am having trouble with my stomach and acid reflux now. It's not constant but even being intermittent is awful. I also get nauseaous if I eat anything with preservatives or additives - I taste everything!!! I need to eat real and pure food so I find I am not eating much at all. Oh, at times I am but only out of boredom and since holiday cookies and nut loafs have been available I have availed myself of those indulgences once in a while. Anyway, after my son I not only lost the 44lbs but I lost 58lbs though I did have a uterine infection for months (my son's head was so big that he tore through my rectum and infections I hear are common when that happens).

So, I look forward to your news... anyone getting milk yet? Anyone's constipation better? Anyone still on progesterone besides me? My OB says prog calms the uterus down so she wants me on it until I deliver...

About movement and pressure... I feel a LOT of movement as I wrote in my other post but I also get really bad pressure on and off - like I said some days are better than others. I sometimes feels like the babies are about to fall out. I sure hope I can continue working to week 28 or 30. My job kicks you out at 7 months unless your OB gives a note saying you CAN work which my OB won't do. She wanted me out at 24w given the type of job I do. I figure since I have 11w time which I can use plus short term disability I can make up some of the difference with my salary that way...

OK, time to go shopping for a short bit! Love to you all!!!

xxxCocoa

OH - R: forgot to say that I am getting two convertible cribs from WalMart. Consumer reviews gave this crib a very high rating...

BE CAREFUL BUYING CRIBS LADIES!!! MAKE SURE THEY HAVE A PLASTIC BITE BAR!!! If there is not bite bar the kiddies can chew the paint off and believe me ALL babies chew the railings when they learn to stand in the crib!!!

I am also getting "arms reach crib" for right next to my bed. If this birth is anything like my last one I KNOW getting out of bed and sitting on the edge of the bed will hurt like H#LL and I won't want to do anything but "reach"!

hello and happy new year everyone! it's great to see everyone doing so well.

Cocoa, I'm also getting contractions, at least that's what I think they are - at first I thought I could just feel a hard bit of baby as my tummy suddenly went v hard at the bottom but now I realise these are probably little contractions.

I haven't bought anything yet for the babies as I feel I also need to hit the 24 week mark. I'm sure when I hit 24, I will shift the plan to 28 weeks! We plan to get an arms reach co-sleeper - but that's the only things we've made a decision on, everything else seems a bit overwhelming. for the twin mummies-to-be, what buggy/stroller are you thinking of? we have been given a snap n' go base which is great but I've heard it's bad for the babes to spend too much time in their car seats - I also think it would be good to get something which you can but the pram/bassinet accessory on so they can sleep in there...then again the double bob's look very easy to handle but I don't think the babies can go in there until they're a little older....too much to think about!!! any advice would be welcome!

OK, off to hit the shops!
Love to all

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update following my 20 week scan (which was actually done at 22 weeks).

All was fine!!!! They spent quite a long time checking everything on each baby... 4 chambers of the heart, all the organs, limbs etc. It was reassuring to finally get all this stuff checked, and I feel I can relax a bit more now. The pics aren't very good, but we've got a 4d scan in a few weeks so I'm hoping we'll get some good pics from that!

Regarding double pram/buggy...I've looked at several models and most of them seem to be either really wide to the point where it won't even fit through my front door, or really long. BUT...came across a really nice one called the "iCandy Pear" (see http://www.icandyuk.com/pear.htm). I don't know if it's available in the US, but I managed to find a shop here with one in stock and it really is great. It's basically a single which is adapted to take 2 seats/cots, so it's not much bigger than having a single because of the way the seats are staggered. Baby in the back gets a bit of a raw deal being not able to see very much, but I figure they can just take it in turns. As you can't leave newborns in a carseat for long periods of time the thing I really like about it is the fact that you can buy 2 completely flat carrycots which just plug into the frame. I had a demo of these and it's easy to just unclip the cot and away you go. Anyone else seen this one?

I'm due to go back to work on Monday and am dreading it!!!

Hope everyone is ok!

Well, it was my 1st day back at work today, once I had been there for 1/2 hour I got back into the swing of things, I wasn't doing my own job today though, my receptionist has been off sick for the last 10 weeks, so I was covering that job today, which is good to get behind the desk occasionally to keep up to date with the goings on! Back to my own job tomorrow though.

I had a wonderful time in Scotland, unfortunately the weather had warmed up, so we didn't get any snow, we were in the middle of nowhere, 8 miles to the nearest shop, pub etc, so very peaceful. We were there with DH's daughter and her boyfriend, we all got on okay, except for one diva moment....we decided to go to the local pub for a bar meal...nothing fancy, just jeans & t shirt etc. Well, after her taking around 2 1/2 hours to get ready, she came out crying "I've got nothing to wear, I'm not going" Well, I'm not the most patient person when it comes to tantrums. so we just left her and went for our meal...... For goodness sake she's 26 years old not a teenager...and I'm meant to be the one with hormones!!!!

I had a totally rotten cold over Christmas, I haven't had a cold for over 6 years, I guess baby is taking all my immunity at the moment. My nose was so sore, and the log cabin stunk of Olbas Oil (apparantly... but I couldn't smell it!)

Baby is moving a lot now, in fact if its been still for too long, I keep getting tempted to poke my tummy to wake it up, ha ha, I'm sure it will get revenge when baby finally arrives! DH felt the baby moving for the 1st time on Saturday, he thought it was me just pretending. But, men are different aren't they, he just shrugged and said 'oh yeah', :? where to me this whole thing is just such major excitement. But then, I guess DH has 4 children already, so he has been here before, but he wasn't there for the birth of any of his other children, so hopefully I will see some amazement on his face yet!!!!

I've had so many people offering to give me things for the baby, which is lovely, but I am just so wanting to go and get something myself. It is so nice of people and great to save lots of money, but I just want to shop shop shop!

I am going to use real nappies, the type that are shaped with velcro or popper fastenings, I've been reading up on them a bit, but have any of you had any experience of them :?: I reckon I need around 25 pairs, but not sure wether to get the ones that go from birth right through to toddler, or to just get the smaller sizes for now!

As for me, I still haven't bought a great deal of maternity clothes, a couple of tops, I was given a skirt for xmas and a friend gave me 2 pairs of jeans. So I'm feeling a bit of a scruff, wearing the same things over and over...I am finding it difficult to wean myself away from my high heeled boots, I love my boots, but my back is starting to ache a bit now so I know the 'granny' shoes will be in use shortly!

Looking forward to hearing everyones news

OK Mandy... BOOTS?!??! I can hardly believe you can still fit into ANY form shaped shoes! :? I am carrying twins and I am HUGE!!! I look like I could pop :P . Even breathing can be difficult so at all costs I have to do what is extremely comfortable :) I do remember that with my son I didn't start to get uncomfortable until about 30 weeks. THIS time at 30 weeks I am sure I will be looking/feeling like a beached whale.

And speaking of a beached whale WHERE IS BABYB??!??! Has anyone seen a post from her recently?

I returned to work today just like I had no time off at all. I am actually much happier to be at work. I have wonderful co-workers and I really like my job. I create my own schedule and as long as I get my job done no one bothers me. I love the teachers I work with too...

So I broke down and bought 2 newborn onsies with long sleeves and cute little pictures on the front. I also bought a cute newborn girl onsie/jumper set (so cute). I have now officially begun collecting diapers, wipes and butt creams  with all the coupons that have been sent to me. I figure you can never have too many. My girlfirend is planning a wishing well at the shower too and I told her that it should be all diapers and wipes (all/any sizes). SO WHEN ARE YOU ALL HAVING YOUR SHOWERS?? Esp those with twins... what's a good week?

I am still teaching karate and plan to end March 5th at 32w (assuming I make it :P ).

I am glad all of you are well. I am anxiously awaiting to hear about LisaPa's BFP and SOON... I am praying for that so hard.

LisaPa... If you are reading... HOW DID YOUR INTERVIEW GO? I hope it went just as you wanted it to. Miss you sweetie...

Hey WC!!! Where you been?!??!

Happy New Year to you all... its the year in which our babies will be born!!!! Yippie!!! Lisa - hurry up! You have until March!

I'm back. Sorry I've been MIA ladies. Family came to town for the holidays so I've been a bit pre-occupied. We drove to Vegas for the holidays (DH doesn't want me flying -- we usually go to NYC for Xmas). I was hoping to win Megabucks (LOL) to afford my twins, but no such luck. However, the boys did score very large from grandma and grandpa who hit about 10 different baby stores buying everything on sale!!!! My dear daughter's closet is now completely full with boys clothes. Can I say, however, that someone needs to step it up with boys clothing -- it just isn't as cute as the stuff for girls. Then again, probably not as expensive either :D Suffice to say, we are good on clothes now.

I returned to work yesterday. I'm HUGE HUGE HUGE. Forget 30 wks to be a beached whale Cocoa -- I'm there now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And my boobs are so big they are resting on my belly (I HATE THAT FEELING). I went from an a to a full C at this point (and growing still).

As for Prams, we are disappointed with what we are finding in twin strollers as well. Someone needs to come up with a great twin stroller. The Peg Prego is too long and the stirring radius sucks. We like the Mountain Buggy, but it is extremely heavy to lift (don't know how I'll get it into the trunk each time) and quite wide. What is one to do? I love some of the newer single strollers (e.g., the orbit or uppababy), but it may be more difficult to try and use 2 different strollers at once. I've asked my husband to see if he can rig something so we can quickly and safely connect two singles (not holding my breath).

Feeling the kids kick now -- not all the time, but frequently enough. My DH felt the first kick in my belly on Jan 1. What a way to start the new year.

Lisa P -- I AM SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED FOR YOU. I'M THRILLED YOU ARE TRYING AGAIN AND REALLY GRATEFUL YOU HAVE A JOB THAT WILL HELP COVER THE COSTS. I REMEMBER GOING THROUGH THE VERY SAME THING. I SPENT A FORTUNE ON 2 PRIOR DONORS (NOT TO MENTION MY OWN IVF IN WHICH I BANKED MY EMBIES IN HOPES THAT SCIENCE WILL ONE DAY ALLOW US TO USE THEM -- ALL OUT OF POCKET). WHEN EVERYTHING FAILED WITH THE DONORS, I DIDN'T THINK WE COULD AFFORD ANOTHER ROUND. THEN, I GOT A NEW JOB THAT COVERS 10K OF IVF. UNFORTUNATELY, BECAUSE WE USED A DONOR, I WAS ONLY ABLE TO SUBMIT A SMALL PORTION OF THE IVF FEES (ABOUT $2600) ATTRIBUTABLE TO ME TO INSURANCE, BUT EVERY BIT HELPED. MY DR ALSO CUT HIS COSTS SO WE RECEIVED HELP FROM A COUPLE OF SOURCES. I BELIEVE THE UNIVERSE IS LOOKING OUT FOR YOU AND THROUGH THIS OPPORTUNITY YOUR WAY TO GIVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE AT A FAMILY. I AM PRAYING FOR YOU AND YOUR DH.

Woodcliff, Mandy, Vlada, anyone else I missed? Glad to hear you are all doing well and I enjoy catching up with you guys. Sorry again that I have been MIA. In major nesting mode now. Now that I'm half way through the 2nd trimester I'm freaking about getting everything organized and cleaned up here. With my size and the back-aches (starting physical therapy tomorrow because I'm already having issues walking), I'm afraid I won't be able to do much in the 3rd trimester. Trying to work as long as possible (hopefully until my water breaks :D LOL).

Take care and hope you all had a happy holiday season.
