I had my retrieval last Friday. I got anesthesia during the procedure, so one moment I was talking with a doctor, the next I was waking up. I feel a wee bit nauseated, but was only under for about 8 minutes so it didn't take long for me to feel better in the recovery room.

I was hooked up to someone taking my blood pressure, and gauging my oxygen, and woke up with an iVF in.

I went home and slept a lot that day. Down there hurt, and using my core muscles to get up off the couch hurt so I took tylenol twice that day and I slept. One two hour nap, another three hour nap, and watching tv the rest of the day, then went to bed for a full night's sleep 10 hours.

After that, well I felt much better, and down there didn't hurt anymore, and I could sit in a chair again. Needed no tylenol at all the next day. Took it easy the rest of the weekend around the house...

all in all not that bad, but everyone reacts to anesthesia differently and heals at different rates so take it easy till you feel ready.
Me: 37 DH:40 TTC since 2005. First IVF cycle canceled. 2nd cycle BFP 1/11. DS arrived late 2008. 3rd cycle, U/s 3/7. Devastated. NO fetal pole or HB.

HIGGINS ----- WHAT TIME TOMORROW??? I'M GOING TO BE THERE AS WELL.....IN ROCHESTER HILLS........I HAVE TO BE THERE AT 10AM.....

as for your question --- it isn't bad at all........PROMISE.....prior to my first round of IVF (back in august) -- i had never been put under (w/ anesthesia) before.....so i was really nervous........it goes very quickly.... and you don't remember/feel a THING.....when you're waking up - it feels like you've been in a very deep sleep for LONG time --- when it's really only been like 30 min from time they wheeled ya back there!!! and they give you script of heavy-duty pain meds (vicodin - sp??) for me --- and i didn't use/need a single one....not that day, or the day after.....in fact - i plan on coming back to work on friday......

how many follies and what sizes????? if i don't talk to ya ---- GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
