Hi Everyone,
I just got back from the MD office & U/S was great news. I'm having one baby, it's measuring 8 wks & 4 days and MD says looks great. I forgot to ask about the heart rate. After hearing "everything looks great" I stopped listening. The baby even moved a little! It was wonderful. I go back in 2 weeks for another scan.
I'm back at work now but it's really hard to focus. I'm just so relieved and greatful that the U/S is over and I had good news.
Squeezan, I'm crying over little things too. I actually cried at the movie The Christmas Story!

Tina and Rebecca-
Congratulations guys! I knew it'd go well. I am so glad it was a great experience for both of you, not to mention the relief it brought I'm sure. Yay!

Su-
I am also feeling weepy. I was watching an old episode of 'Survivor' (on the net), one of the ones where their families come to surprise them. I was bawwwwwwwling. At work today I also felt myself welling up for no good reason. Hormones, baby! (pun intended).

Well, once again, glad to hear the good news. Take care, all.

2ndtimer AND tinao - CONGRATS!! How wonderful to see and hear such amazing news, huh. I am really happy for both of you. Each step of the way is miraculous.

MBG - no, I wouldn't change your date or ticker based on the u/s date difference. They allow up to a week for margin of error, technician error, you name it. 3 days in either direction is perfectly normal. Congrats!

I am a total tearful wreck as well! I cried for no reason this morning at my OB appt, just feeling overwhelmed and emotional and vulnerable and all that happy stuff. And I too am extremely bloated after eating a very small amount. My OB told me this morning at my appt. that bloating and gas are common in the first trimester. I didn't know this...it truly sucks and it really hurts. sharishu described it as "wading through jello" and that is a perfect description. My OB said it should pass in a few weeks. Everything went well at my appt - the internal, talking with the dr., etc. I am going to have the nuchal translucency u/s next week, along with the bloodwork, for the first trimester screening...there's always something new to worry about.

Tina and Rebecca! What lovely news...I am so thrilled for you. How nerve wracking right? When does it end and when can we just enjoy our pregnancies?

Ok girls...I am excited. My beta levels are rising! (not by much but my doctor is not giving up on me!)

My doctor was aghast at what her nurse told me and she was furious for making me worry that I was miscarrying.

I got for another U/S and beta level on Friday.

Thank you so much for the support and encouraging words to get me past these past few days.

I will be on pins and needles again on Fridaybut I feel more relieved that my beta levels are going up and not down. :)

Thank god my doctor was SO positive today and I talked to a new nurse and she was great.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAA!

TinaO and Rebecca: WOHOO!! Congrats to both of you!! Isn't such a wonderful feeling!!! I know you are both over the moon right now!! Tina what a great hearbeat!! Maybe we both have atheletes in there!!!

momma2be: Yeah! I am glad you had a more positive visit to the dr today! Keep hanging in there!! Sounds like your wee one is a fighter!!!

Seltzer: Thanks for the ticker advice...I will keep it as is...glad to hear your visit went well....What is the nucha transluceny? What are they looking for...also, are you seeing your OBGYN now....if so when did you have your first appointment.....I am asking so many ?'s because I am going to be released from my RE on the 14th....I have some paper work to fill out releasing my files over to my OBGYN at that time....just not sure if i needed to call my OBGYN and schedule and appointment now or wait until the 14th..so much to worry about!! I just don't want there to be any unnecessary lapse in medical attention to my little nugget!! :D

sharishu: I too am quite the weepy one lately....I had an office day at home today and took a break to watch a baby story on TLC...Cried my eyes out!! Wow! Not like me at all!!
Oh well what do you do!

momma2be - I AM THRILLED TO HEAR YOUR NEWS!! Congrats. Waiting one more day will be hell, but you can do it. Please let us know ASAP what happens.

MBG - You will feel so great and relieved when you are released to your OB's office. I already feel so much better even though I feel as big as a house due to the bloating and abdominal distension. I am wearing maternity pants today and NOT because of the pregnancy. Agh. The constipation is so bad, not to provide TMI, but it's horrible. I am taking peri-colace and Fibercon and drinking tons of water, and exercising, and taking Citrucel. It ain't going well. So...the nuchal translucency is a type of u/s that they do in the first trimester early risk assessment. They also draw blood and measure certain levels (I believe hCG is one of them). The nuchal translucency is a measurement of a pocket of fluid behind the baby's neck. Babies w/chromosomal abnormalities (e.g., Downs) have an increased measurement. They combine the measurement with the blood results and give you a estimate of risk. So, based on my age alone, the risk of Downs is 1 in 250. Hopefully this assessment will provide me with better odds. If it doesn't I will go on to the amniocentesis. There's also the AFP screening, which is just a blood test. That is an assessment of risk as well. Congrats again on how well everything's going!

Wow Seltzer - thanks for the information. That is GOOD to know. It's always great to share information and other medical procedures that might be coming up for the rest of us.

My little bean is fighting but funny that since the nurse told me on Monday that I might be miscarrying, I have stopped obsessing over all the "symptoms" because I was thinking that I might not be pregnant or maybe I had new worries. Who knows...but all of a sudden I don't have much symptoms, just the usual moments of queasiness, sore breasts, and light pulling or cramping in my lower abs.

My doctor thinks it's a vanishing twin...one started out strong (which were the inital beta level numbers) and then possibly passed away...and then this new one that implanted later is now surviving and fighting.

We shall see...tomorrow will tell.

Thanks for the support!

It ain't over yet...

Okay girls...
I go in today for my 2nd u/s. DH and I have been praying for better news this time around.

momma2be - I kind of feel like my symptoms have subsided a little bit too. Although I have a tough time at night getting comfy to fall asleep - that's when I notice that my bb's are sore. I was never really well endowed in the bb area, and I now feel like they're huge...my bra straps are no longer falling off my shoulders!

I just hope and pray that some type of progress is seen in comparison to last week - only seeing the gestational sac. The u/s person I had last week is notorious for her poor bed side manner & I called on Monday to request this particular woman that's done most of my scans.

seltzer - Was it you that had the OHSS? Are your ovaries still enlarged? I'm wondering what mine will measure today...I was told last week that my right one was "huge"....boy, that was a professional measurement! Have they talked about draining the fluid somehow? They haven't mentioned that with me...but I've read about it...online of course!

Tina & MBG-
Congrats on your good u/s!!!!! What a good feeling! You must be thrilled!

I'll post later on to let you know how the scan went!

Please let us know Nancy...I will be praying and thinking about you today!

I keep telling myself that we fertility patients go through so much more than women who conceive naturally because they do not have to go in for their first appointment until 8-9 weeks. We go every other day since the moment they proceed with IVF.

I am starting to look like a drug addict with all the tracks on my arms from the blood tests.

My DH has been incredibly kind. He told me to go to the movies instead of helping him clean the house. The movers came yesterday and it was nice to sit on the couch and read a book all day while they moved our boxes and finished packing the china and dishes.

But I am still doing light duty and taking LOTS of breaks. We are almost done anyways. He has one more room to complete and then we are DONE!

So let us know how it went Nancy and don't be discouraged if it's not all textbook at this point. I keep telling myself that most women do not even know they are pregnant at this point. We are just trained to be obsessed about our wee ones because of the struggle we have gone through to conceive this miracle.

Good luck!

Hi Mom2Be,
I'm so glad your MD is more positive about things than the nurse. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! My 2nd beta # didnt rise like they expected & I've been wondering if that was a vanishing twin because I had 2 blasto's transferred.
DanciNancy, good luck on your 2nd U/S!
MGB & Shari -stay away from Baby Story & Survivor Family episodes! They'll get you everytime. I had to LOL when I read your posts because besides for crying at The Christmas Story I've also cried during both of those too!
Seltzer, good luck on the nuchal transluncency. My sister had that done & they told her it was extremely likely that her baby would have Downs & also a heart defect. They did a CVS right then & she had to wait 2 weeks for results. Results of that test were inconclusive and now she has a perfectly healthy & smart 1 year old who happens to have a very thick neck???

We broke down & told all my DH's family last night by phone. It was pretty exciting and I'm glad we did, but in a way I liked having our little secret.
Hope everyone is healthy & happy,
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca! That is so exciting to tell people. I didn't wait and although I am in my predictament right now with constant am I or am I not feeling, I do not regret telling the people who will support me if things should take a bad turn. They are your support group and it is exciting news.

Until proven otherwise, I am pregnant.

Here is something I found insightful when my beta levels didn't rise as expected:

http://100infertilityquestions.blogspot ... -hope.html

The doctor was funny by stating that he was tired of past patients sending them Christman cards with their beautiful babies on the outside and the inscription on the inside reading, “The little boy in the reindeer sweater is the pregnancy that you thought was never going to end well.” He mentions that beta levels are not always accurate because of many variables (ie: late implanter, vanishing twin...etc).

I had three embryos implanted and I have had slight bleeding which my doctor said are the ones that did not attach.

So please don't worry about the beta levels...it's the ultrasounds that are the most important. If your embryo is growing then you are fine.

That is awesome news Rebecca and another day done and you can enjoy your pregnancy.

Can't you tell I am procrastinating from cleaning...by being on this site??? lol

It's OFFICIAL! We saw our little baby on the u/s!!!!!! So crazy! As soon as she put the "magic wand" in I immediately saw the gestational sac and a perfectly shaped circle in it & then she kind of moved to to where we couldn't see anything, and there I am saying "did I just see the yolk sac? did I just see the yolk sac?!!" And my favorite nurse was like, " I think so!!" She got it back in position & the next thing I saw was the flutter of the beating heart! She was thrilled & I was crying & my husband was kind of left out of the loop, he had no idea what we were looking at. She pointed everything out to him, and then she let us hear the heartbeat! Crazy!!!! The baby measures 6 weeks 4 days & I think I'm actually 6 weeks 6 days right now, so we pretty much on the money. Not sure if my body just absorbed the other blastocyst or not, but atleast this "little drummer boy" was jumping around in there! So happy & so blessed. Tears were just rolling down my face & my nurse was saying how this made her day. She gave me a big hug & ordered me to stay in touch. It was almost sad saying goodbye to her - I want to take her with me to my Ob!
I called to set that appointment up, and they want to see me the week of the 14th - I'm guessing so soon b/c of the OHSS - which is still around.

Oh girls, what a roller coaster of emotions we go through! I'm going to relish this moment and try to live off of this high for a while to come!

momma2be - all my best to you for your u/s tomorrow, I'll be thinking about you and sending good wishes your way!
