Welcome optimistic1! Glad you found us!

TammyS - I am also on a microdose cycle - well, sort of. I will be doing the normal 10 units of lupron for the first 2 days, and then will switch to what my doctor referred to as a "diluted" version of lupron, which I believe is the microdose. I guess it means they measure it in micrograms instead of milligrams. Reason for me is I am a poor responder. Last time I stimmed for 15 days and still only had 5 eggs, 3 fertilized. And he's doubled all of my stim drugs...I believe I'll be on 450 units of gonal and 3 menopurs daily. Oh - and I'll be doing some estrogen therapy for about a week to help thicken the lining of my uterus. That is, if AF ever shows up.

Welcome Opti! Glad you got through the first shot - it gets easier everytime you do it.

Cornbaby: Have you talked to your acupuncture guru yet?

Tammy and Loopie, glad I am not alone on the whole back problem. I haven't mentioned this to my RE yet. I don't take any meds, but I might if I get preggers.

Tammy: I am glad it was a smooth transition between clinincs - that can be a hassle!

I don't go back to work until the 18th! so I have quite a bit of down time left. I am trying to keep myself bbusyso i don't go crazy! Did I tell ya'll that dh had a dream about giving me shots? he told me the rest of it last night. After he gave the injection there was like a huge rock inside. And I kept telling him to massage my butt, but he was too scared b/c the hole from the needle was so huge and he was afraid the meds were going to shoot up at him    . Oh my we had a good laugh last night!

Yeah I start injection in FOUR days!!! Can't wait to get this thing started!! A month from now me and Rio should be testing and getting our BFPs!!

Hoping and corny- thank you for your encouraging words! I am glad it is not as bad as it seems when it comes to shots, the whole huge box of meds is intimidating! But I feel much better now!

Also thank you for all the input on how many embies to transfer! I know it is a hard decision to make and we will see how they develop. Thank you for all the knowledge you passed on about number of cells and grades.

Mia- I got my class today and then we can compare :) I am glad we are on the same dates!

Corny - still wishing for AF to come soon!

Welocme Optimistic!

To all - I put all of my meds, doses, ultrasounds, tests, etc into and Excel Calendar so I could print it big and cross dates out (hid is on the back side of our closet door). If any of you would like to send you the file, send me a private message with your email and I can email it to you. It just helps me adjust changes, doses and know what's coming every day.

Hello all,

My name is Kisha. I am new to this. I always read the post but never has had enough courage to post anything until now. I am a 26yr w/ PCOS and my husband has severe male infertility. We will be starting our first IVF cycle this month and I am very nervous. I will be starting my Lupron injections this Sunday on the 6th. ER is set for 1/30. Any suggestions on what I be doing that might make my chances greater of this being successful?

Thanks riogirl71,

I am nervous and excited. :D I will keep everyone posted on my visits. I am kind of scared of the shots but it will be worth it in the long run! I have to just relax and stay positive.

Welcome kildeen! You have definitely come to the right place. Lots of babydust to you on your first try. :)

Mia - no, my acu guru has not called me back. I'm actually a little ticked about it. She charges a fortune and after the amount of money I spent with her in the first round, I would have thought she would have at least returned my call. I suppose she may be away for the holiday...but geez! I'm getting desperate! I'm at a loss for what to do.

Hi kisha im Katie Im in the same boat I had my Lupron shot on 12/28 now im waiting for stupid AF. (who would have thought i'd be excited for that) it looks like I will start my shots on 1/10 and have ER on 1/22 and ET on 1/27. It seems like all the sudden its taking forever. My month of BC went fast but now AF wont come fast enough. It will all go smooth im just trying stay calm and busy so the time doesnt creep.

Sounds like a lot of us newbie's are right around the same time, that's great....we can learn together from the others:)

Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone! And warm welcome extended to Kisha and Kildean!!!

Not much new going on with me, dh did a shot again today and it didn't go in the first time so had to do it a 2nd time! I was laughing and crying all at the same time. But once he got it the 2nd time, no big deal :)

I feel like the days are just crawling by right now. I don't do the lupron until we get home from work so I feel all up tight all day long and then I'm fine in the evening after the shot. I think it's b/c I anticipate the shot all day, just want to get it over with, does that make sense?

I see some of you mention acupunture, I have not yet read up on that, how is that suppose to help, or who is that suppose to help? I suppose I could look into it to pass the time a little! HA!

Well, I hope everyone is having a good day!

Opti: Yeah the anticipationof the shots can be brutal. But it will get easier. My RE suggested acupuncture, but I don't think I would want that. Personally a good massage would relax me.

Katie: I forget is AF supposed to come immediately after you finish bcp??

Cornybaby: You know what helps me start my period? Where white :P Never fails! No seriously I know how you feel. Keep us posted!

Kildean - you are just a day behind me and Rio :) My clinic plans on doing a day 5 transfer.

Nothing new here - Just waiting for Monday so I can start these shots!

Mia: well im not sure b/c I had the lupron shot on friday 12/28 and they said to take my last two BCP sat and sun. and said i should start 5-10 days after Lupron. Good news is im showing signs so hopefully I will wake up with it. Im wanting to start tom so I can go in for BW and start shots sooner then next thurday but not sure if I can start meds and have AF at same time im a bit confused I'm going to call them in the morning and find out. I really dont want to wait a week if I dont have to. They seem to like to start shots on thurdays or fridays so who knows. Hopefully its not a day late/ dollar short for this week. Does anyone know if you can/cant start shots on first day of AF? I soppose i should know but all the info you get is overwelming and is sorta jumbled in my head.

hi ladies! Well, another day gone by and still no AF. I'm now 11 days late. Oh, and mia - acu guru just called. She said not much to do but maybe drink tons of pomegranate juice (yuck). I decided to get a massage tonight, in hopes of it relaxing me a little, and to see if I can get the blood flowing a little. :D I must say, I am feeling very relaxed!

Ok - so opti - here's what I know about the acupuncture. They say it does a couple of things...one, it is supposed to relax you, but they also say that it increases the blood flow to your uterus which in turn makes it easier for the embies to attach. I did it throughout my first cycle including a session 20 minutes before and after my transfer, and I got a BFN. Another girl at my clinic did not do acu and got a BFP. So, who knows. I will not be doing it on my 2nd go round, mainly because I didn't find it relaxing at all (although most people I know do enjoy it). In addition, it was VERY expensive, and I decided if I am going to be spending that kind of money I may as well be getting a massage, because that to me, is relaxing. There are a lot of interesting stats out there that made me think it would be worth it, but the fact that I didn't enjoy really just added more stress.

katieg- I totally understand how excited you are to get started. I was the same way. Don't stress about your period. It will come. I doubted myself and my body all the time throughout my first cycle, but what I learned is that everything that my calendar said would happen, did. It really is quite a science, and they seem to have complete control of what's going on inside you. If you look on different clinic's websites, you will see that almost all of them have a very similar calendar. Start lupron on monday, get period 5 days later, start stims 5 days after that, etc... It's like clockwork. And, they start stims on the same days every week so they can control what days they will do retrieval and transfers (and they'll likely have several of you all clumped together).

Hope this info helps! Hang in there girls...you won't believe how fast the time flies once it's all started.
