Hi All,

Firstly I would like to say i'm sorry I have not been around for the last couple of days. I have had alot going on to be honest but thought I would post.

Well the last couple of days I noticed a change in my baby's movement pattern, the baby didn't seem to be as active as normal. I have also had alot of swelling, on ankles, hands etc... so I was in a bit of a panic. Well I called the delivery suite to ask and they said I needed to go and see them. My ankles was that bad I couldn't get any shoes on. Well last night I spent a couple of hours at the hospital while the heartbeat of the baby was monitored. I had to go back to them today and have a scan done. They have confirmed that everything is ok, the placenta is doing what it shoudl be doing, the baby is healthy, but they say the baby is big!! They also said that the baby is head down, I asked if it would turn again now and they said no its down now. I said that my midwife says that it is breech but when the scanned the top of my belly there was the bum and then when they done it low down there was the head. The scan was so clear, she asked me if I knew what I was having and I said I didn't and I said do you know what I am having and she said yes but she wasn;t telling me because I only had 8wks to find out and it could be less.
Well I am glad I went to hospital to have it all checked out. I have to go back again next Friday but least they are keeping an eye on me. They say the baby weighs approx 5lb 2oz atm so who knows.

Love
Shell.
32wks pg
Hi, really glad to hear the scan showed the baby to be doing well - even if the position was unexpected! 5lbs+ sounds really good too. If it helps at all (and disregard if it doesn't) my IVF baby was only 6lbs 1oz when she was born, full term, this year. Plus she was an unplanned c-section. What really, really helped me when they announced what was happening was to have some notes on what happens next. If you want I can write it out and email. If you'd rather I just shut up about c-sections - no worries! My end result was a perfectly healthy baby so I didn't care how she got into my arms.

Good luck and take all the hospital's advice!
love
Debra.

Hey Shell - really pleased to hear you and bubs are doing ok, you make sure they keep looking after you. I was wondering where you were and hoping everything was ok.
I had an antenatal class tonight and our teacher had 2 cutout pictures of babies - 1 was a 6oz baby and 1 was a 10lb baby. It was to show that on the heavier baby, all the extra weight was on the body and the heads were pretty much the same size so it doesn't necesarily mean it's harder to have a bigger baby. I didn't realise this and it made me feel much better so even if your bubs is big, Shell - i wouldn't worry too much.
Have a lovely birthday tomorrow
Take care, Lizzy xxxx
Hey Shell - dont you worry about HOW your baby is born .... let the doctors worry about that. The wonderful thing is that everythings ok and in just a short time you'll be holding your little cherub!! Makes me break out in goosepimples just thinking about it!!!

Everything sounds as if its going fine for you - ooohhhh I bet you cant wait - fantastic.

Rest up now - lots of love - Jo. Hi Shell,

Glad everything's okay - it never gets any easier does it?? I too find that my baby has days when it's really active and then days when it's less so. My GP said that I should go to the hospital if within a 2 hour period your haven't felt more than 10 movements. I think that you have to be resting and relaxed to do the count though - has anyone else been told this?

Only a few weeks now - I'm getting sooooo excited!! 33 weeks tomorrow - how time has flown since we were tentatively coming over to this side!

Best of luck,

Alison xx
Hi Alison,

I have posted on your other thread but thought I would post on here as well. It doesn't get any easier Alison but the thing is like you say the hospital said if I don't have 10 movements in the day then I need to go to the hospital and they will check it out. To be honest I know baby as not got as much room to move but it still panics you when you don't feel him/her.

My DH has just sent me a text message saying one of his customers off his milk round has knitted a lemon cardigan for the baby, how sweet is that.

Love
Shell.
32wks 4d pg
xx
Hi Shell,
I was thinking of you on Friday (wasn't it your birthday as well - if so happy birthday, if not sorry I must have dreamt it was!!), but I was out of the office all day Friday and wasn't near a computer all over the weekend, so have logged on to see how you went on - sorry I'm late!!.

So glad to hear everything's fine with your baby although you must have been worried sick! At least he/she will be a good healthy weight - he must be a boy!! I met someone in the hairdressers who had a 10lb baby vaginally - no problem and she said the baby slept really well from the start. I truly cannot believe how fast the time has gone from 20 weeks or so till now (I'm 30 weeks) - it just seems to have gone so fast!! I can't believe that our babies will be born so soon!!!!

I find that as soon as I eat something, BOB gets moving around or gets hiccups, and especially if I sit bent over or lie down he moves and kicks, but if I haven't felt him move for a couple of hours I start to worry, so can imagine how you felt.

As I say, I'm 30 weeks now but my hosp reckons that because my placenta is too low, they'll get Bob out by C-section at 37 weeks (although I will prob have to spend 3 weeks in hospital beforehand in case of haemorrhage) - Debra - any information you have re C-Sections would be gratefully received - I like to know what to expect!!!!

Hope everyone and their bumps are well, we are all so lucky - sometimes I feel quite overcome by it all - not sure if anyone else feels the same -
love Sally xxx

Hi Sally,

Nice to hear from you, just to let you know you didn't dream it, it was my Birthday on Friday and I had a nice day. I didn't really do a great deal in the day but went out for a meal on the evening with Lee and my parents and sister etc and that was nice. Its amazing where the time is going isn't it Sally, the thing is we could have them anytime now. I am just in the process of doing my hospital bag but not sure what as to go in there an what doesn't so any information would be greatly appreciated.

What are people's views on baby baths? Admittenly I was going to have one but then a couple of feedbacks I have had back is that you just put them in the bath and fill them with water but the thing is your still bending over the bath to do it. I am just in 2 minds what to do, + have to think of storage we are in one of these new houses and just don't have any space to put anything.

Sally I also may have to have a c section because of how big the baby is but at the end of the day I ain't worrying about it.

If you've brought any clothes for the baby what sizes have you gone for. Majority of mine are 0/3 months but I have brought a couple of new born but I think when the baby is in hospital how about if they are too big?

Hope to hear from you soon.
Love
Shell
32wks 4d pg
xx
Hi Shell - happy birthday for Friday, it sounds like you had a good time!

I've only bought a few clothes as I've been given loads of newborn stuff which I think is the same as 0/3, but I was wondering about getting some 'tiny baby' size if Bob's going to be early. I'm going to get a few sleepsuits/vests etc in a couple of different sizes, then if they're the wrong size, change them - have seen some nice and cheap ones in Tescos and ASda - all my friends with babies said that people will buy you loads of clothes and lovely outfits, so you may as well buy cheaper things yourself, as the baby will grow so quickly there's no point spending loads unnecessarily. Good idea I think although I have bought a gorgous Pooh sleepsuit in 0 - 3!

I had thought the same about baths - it would be good if they do them on stands like the Moses baskets as we won't be able to bend or lift, esp after a section. I have seen changing units that have a top bit to lift up and you just fill that with water and you're at the right height. My midwife said today that a lot of people just use a washing up bowl for the first few weeks/months!
I've been worrying about the hospital bag, but signed up with Babycentre.co.uk to get updates and this link is a good list of things to take http://www.babycentre.co.uk/general/3578.html - I have only just seen it so a bit spooky that you mentioned it!

love sally xxx
30 wks, 5 days !!!!!!
