Hi there,

We are starting IVF this month with injections and should be implanting the second week of Feb. or so. I can't wait, but nervous as everyone that it will not take the first time around. We do have children and I have also had 3 eptopics and 2 miscarriages, and then my tubes tied after my last eptopic, so no tubes left. Now after 4 years, I really want more babies and we are going to try IVF, so I hope all goes well. Hard not to be anxious. I am very fortunate to have my children, and am praying for everyone here that are also in the process of fertility treatments, that you get your baby very soon. I hope to meet others to get advice and compare notes to others in the same cycle. I don't know what to expect at all, so any advice would be appreciated. I love chatting so feel free to connect. hehe!!

Hi and welcome Kisha and mommykjo and to all the newbies. It does seem as if alot of us are scheduled the same week. I am with the rest of you...I think I will get a massage versus accupuncture. Should I do it right before transfer?

Hey all! This is my first IVF cycle and started the injections Dec. 24 of brovelle and metformin. It has been interesting thus far. I have PCOS and my husband has misshaped heads thus we have to do ICSI. So far, my follicles are 11 and they are being stubborn! The Dr. does not want to increase my meds because I have soooo many eggs. I just hope they start to get bigger!!! I go in for another appt. on Sunday so wish me luck that they have grown!

I hope to stay in contact with this board because it is nice to see other people out there with the same situations as me. It has been stressful even though I did not think it would be. Sometimes I really have to try hard to be optimistic that this cycle will work. We can not afford more than 2 cycles and maybe not more than one cycle unless we wait a few years! So hopefully this time works!!!

Anyone else out there with PCOS who developed a lot eggs?

Thanks for all the welcomes!! I am praying for everyone! I thought about the acupuncture too, but I think I'm going with the massage. It's time to bring on those babies!!! My first baseline appt is Jan 18th, it's not coming quick enough. I need something to keep me occupied so my time will go faster.

I am on the same schedule/cycle as you. I started my lupron shots on Thursday this week (1/3/08.) and continue with the BCPs until tomorrow, then Lupron alone until AF comes (which should be 1/8 ). On my first day of full flow (sorry to be graphic), I call my primary nurse to schedule my day 2 Lupron eval b/w and u/s (probably will be 1/9). I then get a call that evening, 1/9, letting me know what my dosing for my stim meds will be and I begin stim shots that same night! (Katie, to answer your question about starting stim shots while AF is around, I do!) I will stim from 1/9 to 1/19, trigger on the evening of 1/19 and then ER will be on 1/21, with hopefully a 5 day blast transfer on 1/26!

The only suggestions I have are, try to still enjoy other things, don't obsess about the IVF, drink a ton of water, and do anything that makes you relax (take walks, yoga, massage). For every person I know that has been successful in becoming pregnant through IVF, it has been different!

Thanks for the wonderful advice. I will drink lots of water. I like to read, so I think I'm going to go get a couple of books to read. I start my Lupron injections this Sunday.

I am praying that AF will come. It always wants to come late when we want it to come and then when we don't want it to come, it comes early.

Thank you all for the warm wishes! It has taken awhile to get to this point so it is GREAT to know that you all are out there for me to vent my frustration to! I am here for you all as well as much as I can be for a "virgin" ivf.

I see that you have PCOS. I have that as well. Are you taking metformin, and if so did they have you to keep taking it, with all the other meds you are on?

Welcome newbies! I have to update my list of girls!!! I will do it over the weekend!

I went for my med class yesterday and the nurse really took her time to explain everything. I had my last bcp yesterday and she said regardless of AF I am doing my ultrasound, base line estradiol and start stimming on Monday.

Here is the kicker, she said we are not supposed to have sex after cycle day 10 (which is 8 days after I start my Follistim and Menopur). Then, she said no sex for 10 WEEKS!!! I thought it was the 2ww without sex but 10 weeks? Geeeeeeesh! Anybody hear anything similar? Mia - I know I had asked that question earlier...

No warm baths after ER for a week. Other than that she was very through on mixing everything (Menopur) giving the Follistim. I also have to do antibiotics after ER. Aspirin everyday, Medrol, and Ganirelix instead of Cetrotide. The needles were so thin, I felt much better. Thankfully DH has EMT training and promised he will be gentle. She sia dit was personal whether you want to ice it but said that those are easy, the progesterone shots are harder and they will have other talks with us before ovidrel, etc...

My clinic has a two cycle option to buy, we did that thinking the Murphy's law might help us. You know, if we had bought one cycle that one probably wouldn't work, but since we bought two I am sure the first one will work

Wow - Welcome to all the newbie. I will resond to each later tonight but wanted to ask Rio a question.

Rio: I am confused I thought we were on the same track. Why did you have your last bcp already? Mine will overlap with the 1st Lupron shot. Then once I start my period I call to make an appt for baseline, u/s etc.. Is that just a different policy?

About sex: Whoa 10 weeks, yeah right! That is very aggressive. My clinic said sex was ok after confirmed pregnancy. I will double check though.

Anyway, I am considering taking up a teaching job for this semester at a highschool, but I am really worried about the effect of the stress and also all they mornings I will have to be late due to u/s plus the 2 days my clinic wants me in bedrest after transfer!. Can anyone remind me the average times you went in for u/s to check follie growth?

Can someone inform me about the Aspirin. Is that commen to take? My RE didn't mention anything about me taking it, but if it is helpful to take then I want to do it. does that make the chances better?

My doc put me on 1 a day baby aspirin back in Sept. I was told to stay on it to build my uterus lining. Check with your doc before just doing it, though. There could be a reason why they dont want you on it.

woo-hoo AF arrived. I start my shots on sun 1/6/08 that puts me at ER on 1/18 ish and ET 1/23ish. I saved myself a week by starting this morning otherwise they woud have made me wait to start shots on thursday of next week. Hope everyone had/has a great friday!!!
