Ahhh...i hope so! I can't handle pain at all!! I think I'll be icing my belly for 15mins before the shot :)
Did your doc say anything about rotating the sites? I think we'll run out of room on the belly.

Mia: Glad to read you made it through the shot. We didn't really care where on the belly. During our nursing visit, we were told anywhere you could pinch an inch. I certainly didn't have a problem there. In fact, when we were told that, my DH burst out laughing.

bat21: looks like we are using the same protocol. I start my Gonal and Menopur on the 19th as well. I'm doing all my shots on the belly. Up until my trigger shot.

KatieG: I am going to HoustonIVF. I had been researching clinics for months and even considered going to Colorado. We travel from year to year for my husbands job and he was actually relocated back to our home town in Louisiana, but they couldn't see me for 4 months!!! So I knew I would have to go out of state. We are only here for 5 months (which is rare) So I am taking it as a good sign. Then when I interviewed Dr.Hickman I knew we were a perfect match. Everything just came together for me, DH and doc.

Weezie: I was told to do the shot an inc from the belly button. I lloked at the picture of areas after I posted last night and I think where I did it was completely fine - I just needed something to freak out about! I think I will start my Gonal the same time as you - The RE didn't give me any dates after this one.

21bat: Seriously I iced it for 2 minutes at the most and then I stopped to prepare the injection and just did it - I didn't feel a thing. The needle is like acupuncture thin (ok, slight exaggeration..) but I didn't feel it at all! My Re said to do it in belly only, 1st b/c it is less painful and second b/c it is more effective for these particular fertility drugs. You will have plenty of space - finding a new place just means a mm away from the last ones. Plus after a week you can start over in the same place. This go around we have told only one person and that is a friend who lives in another state who I talked to once a month. She is praying for us and struggles with IF herself. I found that ppl who have never gone through this are not so great at supporting, so dh and I decided to keep it a secret from our families and friends.

KAtie: Are you already doing the PIO shots??

I never heard that the evening and morning shots have to be 12 hours apart!! Is this true? This will really mess up my schedule. I decided to do the evening shot at 9pm - so when we go out I can do it at 10, but when I want to go to bed early, I can. But 9am is kinda late for the morning shot.

MP

I woke up witha splitting headache, iam assuming it is from the Lupron shot, but not sure if the side effect can start this early.

Hi girls - I gues it is finally crunch time! We are all starting our meds...
My nurse also said anywhere you can pinch an inch just not the breasts (ouch, who would do that anyway!). I did the Follistim pen - no problem, did the Menopour and yickes that things stung like a bee, seriously I had to ice it and it stung for 2 hours - ok it was more like 10 mins but felt like 2 hrs ;) So I didn't feel the needles, we used 27G needles and DH was great. Anyone out there with Menopour? I am hoping that some of the rubbing alcohol got in there somehow and caused the sting and that it is not going to be like that every night. :(

Mia - yes, DH and I went to IKEA and compared prices of things vs other places. We didn't buy anything but we strated picking out names, etc... I try to control myself but it is hard not to dream and go get the nursery ready!!! I think positive attitude really helps. We are also realistic that it might not work (we bought two cycles - shared risk with RE) so if Murphy's law has anything to do with it, we will get pregnant. Had we not bought the two cycles (one fresh - one frozen - one fresh again, sounds like 3 to me) then I am sure Murphy would not get us pregnant ;)

I told my boss about IVF, his wife and him went through it so he is awesome support. I already said that I plead guilty to everything for reason of insanity!

I am so excited for all of us and I can't wait for al the BFP notices!!!!!!!

Thank you for being wonderful support!

Rio: I did menopour last cycle and yes it stung like a mother! Sorry. The Lupron was like a dream last night. I have never been to IKEA. I go to Houston like every weekend and see it, but have never gone it. I need to look up their stuff online. BTW We have had our names picked out for 7 years!!!

Mia - you definetely want to check out IKEA, they have decent stuff for CHEAP! Better quality than Target or Wal Mart but cheaper. Also lots of smart things for kids rooms, great ideas and displays. Some convertible beds and convertible changing tables :) it was fun going there!
So I guess I have the bee sting to look forward to every night :( yickes!
Glad to hear we are not the only ones with names picked :) and all! We are secretly hoping for twinsis :)

Rio,

I did Menopur last time and will enjoy it again this time! It does sting some, try making sure the alcohol has completely dried before injecting; and I always try to go slow with the plunger. I don't think it gets better, I think we just get used to it!

My dates:

1/3 begin lupron
1/9 Lupron evaluation (b/w & u/s) start stim meds in PM
1/19 trigger shot at given time
1/21 ER
1/26 ET (hopefully!)
2/9 TEST DATE!

DH and I are superstitious so we have stopped ourselves from discussing names or doing anything regarding a nursery or baby stuff. We keep the positive thoughts going, and just keep distracted!

My RE didn't say anything about timing for my shots, just indicated AM or PM. My lupron is always in the AM, along with the baby asprin and prenatal vitamin, but the stim meds have always been in the evening. I am an overresponder, so I am waiting to see what they do differently with my meds this time because they are very worried about OHSS with me. We'll see, I get my dosing tomorrow night!

Fingers crossed for everyone!!
TWINS!

Rio: My dates are in my siggy. :D The only time I had a problem with stinging when I did follistim.... was when I did not dry the alcohol area well enough first.

Yes, I am somewhat guilty of wanting to get the nursery ready. It is my office right now. I have given my very large bird cage and parakeets away to my nieces and nephews. I have moved another big table out already. I bought a laptop ...so I can take the desk and desk top to the basement, now. I have secretly been looking at baby bedding. LOL

I am curious about the shots being 12 hours apart too. I was thinking 9 am and 7:30 pm. Has anyone checked into this yet? I hate calling my doc. LOL I am just gonna be patient and ask on Friday when I am there anyways.

I had nightmares all night last night about the shots. Not really about the needles...but about the dosages and the mixing of the medicines. I was literally up all night.

When I did the follistim shots in the belly ...they were around 2" from the belly button and in a U shape around the belly button. There is plenty of room to put alot of shots. I was told the belly gets the meds in where they need to be easier and faster.

We have IKEA about 2 hours from here...and I hear it is great for nursery stuff. All my friends and family rave about it. I will be checking it out soon. :D

Feb Transfer

Post by pam444 »

Hi guys,
So glad to have found this site. I'm attempting my second IVF attempt. Today is day 1. I'm scheduled for transfer of frozen embryos on Feb. 15th. Would love to be in contact with others on the same cycle! I had hoped using frozen embryos would be easier than the first round, but NO, of course not. I start the pill (how ironic) tomorrow and Lupron Jan 20th. Then estrogen patches and progesterone shots in the butt (owe). Oh, what a woman will do... Let me know if anyone will be going to transfer around that time too. Cross your ovaries for me! After two failed pregnancies, I'm ready for this one to work...

Rio: I tried to look up cribs on IKEA's website but they only show 2! I need to check if Houston is the closest one to me! Dh thinks nurserys are just another way American capitalism makes American spend money on stuff they don't need - He would rather satrt the baby's college fund with the money we put into the nursery  He is so wierd about some stuff. But there is no way he is gonna make me have a boring baby room!! If I have to sew the comforter myself!! I don't really know my dates. Just put mine the same as yours for now. Maybe I will email today to see if i can get an answer.

Tammy: I wasn't stressed until the second I held the needle up to my belly, I thought I was gonna faint - I sat down and just shoved it in - and it didn't even hurt at all!!

Katie: PIO=Progesterone in Oil

Welcome Pam! I would cross my overies for you, but isn't that a bad thing to have twisted ovaries? How about I cross my fingers instead  Hope this one is the one for you!

I just went to the grocery store and stocked up on some healthy stuff. I bought some whole mmilk organic yougurt (bleh) it taste gross - I was going to make some yougurt smoothies, but I think it might be too sour! Owell...

Baby dust to all my sisters!
