Great news: u/s today!!

Post by gori »

Hi to all the wonderful women, who have been so supportive of my posts/questions. We had our first u/s today (at 7 weeks): And we heard the heart-beat of our little one!!!
We are so.........excited...yet cautiously optimistic [since I had a m/c last year at 12 weeks, so I find myself being reminded of that constantly :( ]
Hearing the heart-beat of your little one is the best thing, I guess, the second best to holding your little one in your arms :) And there is only one gestational sac & one baby...that's exactly what we wanted [I was worried about twin-twin transfusion in case the egg split & resulted in twins in the same sac]!!
I also had some spotting/bleeding [red/brown] on/off for last 3-4 days so that had me really worried. Even though that has stopped now, is that an indication of pre-term labor at later stages? Anyway, luckily all went well today. The other thing is that my HCGs have been quite high for a singleton, hope that does not mean anything negative? Also, the yolk sac is 1.9mm, on the smaller side. Should be between 2.5-5mm but fertility center said not to worry & follow-it up with an u/s in 7-10 days. Any thoughts? Our worries never end :) Touchwood, baby's growth seems fine & is measuring up-to 7 weeks!!
Thanks again for all your support! That is always very helpful.

Congratulations!! That is wonderful feeling :)

In terms of high HCG - I don't think that indicates anything, other than something positive. My HCG counts were very low, and am now pregnant with (20 weeks) with twins...so those numbers can be so different in woman.

In terms of the yolk sac...DO not even worry one bit (or research it!) unless the Dr. is worried. First, can you imagine how difficult it is to accurately measure something so small...they just put the dots where they think they see it. Had someone else measured, they could have gotten 2.5 or higher..remember this as you go each week measuring the baby... Also, my yolk sac once measured like 7.5 and I researched that, and holy cow...I wish I NEVER had..Pretty much it was imminent that something was chromosomally wrong with the baby... which has not been the case!!!!! So....these numbers..they can vary widely!!

Good Luck with everything, and I wish you the very very best!!!!

Hi

Great, thanks Kelly. That's certainly very reassuring. You are right, sometimes we worry for no reason. Internet can be a good and a bad place, at the same time :)
Good Luck with your twins!!
