Leukocytes in urine

Post by sharishu »

Help! I am up here in the middle of the night freaking out. I checked the results of my blood test and urinalysis online, and my leukocyte count (in urine) was 500! (0-10 is normal according to the test). Could this be from progesterone suppositories? Does anyone know what it means? Also, the lymphocyte level in my blood was a bit low (21.2, and 22 was the low end of normal). Does anyone know what all this means???? I'm nervous.

Shari - Bless your heart, girl! Don't worry - it sounds as if it could be totally normal. Do you think it could be a urinary tract infection? My clinic tests me every time I go now because they said they are very common in pregnant women. I am doing some research on-line for you...stay tuned!

Ok, the crap on the internet is not that helpful. I just am assuming it is a UTI. They appear to be very common in pregnancies and as long as it is treated right away, it sounds like you are ok. Sorry I am not that helpful - but I bet that is what it is. Good luck! I am sure everything will be fine, Shari!

Tina-
Thanks for your concern, you are so sweet for looking online :) I am still a bit nervous, but also a bit better than last night. Well, my research turned up the 'UTI' probability as well. The thing that freaked me was the '500' number, with a 0-10 being the normal range. Do you know if '500' is a 'normal' cell count if it's UTI?

Again, thanks for your concern, I really appreciate it.

Shari - I thought on one site, I saw some numbers that were even higher than 500 for UTI's, so I am sure you are ok. However, UTI's can still be dangerous when pregnant if not treating right away from what I read last night, so definitely get in touch with your doc right away. I am sure you are going to be just fine, though! :)

Thanks Tina,
You are really so sweet, I just feel so supported by you and some other wonderful ladies who've helped me through this past day. It was QUITE a stressful one. I actually spoke to my doc yesterday (finally!) and he said he's not worried, he doesn't think it's UTI, but he's ordering another urinalysis to see how I progress. He's pretty on top of things as far as testing goes. The good thing is that he is not an alarmist, which is great, since my alarms go off fast and furious at the drop of a hat.

How are you feeling by the way? Hope all is well, and glad you felt excited about buying your little onesies and booties. That must feel nice. During the IVF treatment my dh came home one day with little baby bibs. It was so cute thinking of him picking out a baby item. Makes it all feel real and exciting.

Feel well, and thanks again! As you like to say, "Bless you heart" :)
