Happy New Year My Egghead Friends!!!
I hope that everyone had an okay time over the holidays and at least were able to enjoy some drinks and some lazy mornings!
I am feeling rested and rejuvenated and ready to conquer 2008!!!!

I think we all have to throw away any thoughts about 2007 (since it was a sucky year) and now focus on all the good things that are going to happen in 2008 (and early 2008 at that!!!).

I am getting pretty excited about our trip to Zlin. We leave on January 19th which is only 2 1/2 weeks away! Yippee!! We found out that our donor has donated twice before and both women have achieved a pregancy (one already gave birth and the other hasn't yet). Let's hope that we are lucky #3! I start the estrogen on Jan 7th and then go for my ultrasound on Jan 18th before we leave. Hopefully my lining is the right thickness at that point.

What are everyone else's schedules - for those cycling in January?

Thinking of you all and hope that everyone is doing okay!!!

Hi Ladies

First Jen1d so sorry about your dad, my heart goes out to you.

at last I surface from my flu and trip (on my own!!) to Kiev, Xmas, my 2ww and the bloods just to make sure its true, and yes I have a BFP! Had hcg of 179 11dpt, and now 9110 at 21dpt, so first scan on the 14th when Im will be 6 weeks, if things are ok then I will believe it. Until then, I am staying very mentally prepared just incase, although the betas are higher and increasing faster so I hope thats good.

All 6 frosties survived the thaw (these are the grade 1 embies from the abandoned cycle in November when I bled before ET), we put 4 back and re-froze 2 as I really wanted to give this go my all, the endo and the progesterone and oestrogen values were really optimal.

Will take time to catch up with you all on my new lappie over the next few days.

Never give up ladies, never.

Let's hope that you have set the bar for the rest of us and that we will all be celebrating with our little ones this year!!

Can't wait to hear about your scan on the 14th! Only one week until the big day! Your betas sound great.

Enjoy these days!

Hi everyone,

Jen, sorry about DH's Dad. How are things going? Hope you are all well. Remeber, we are kicking butt this year.

BigJ, great news. You are an inspiration to us all.

Kelly, great news about your donor. Not much longer for you.

I am on a cycle break from IVF this month, so we are going in for a natural cycle IUI today, why not? Miracles do happen. ANd if the miracle is not scheduled for this month, we will be starting next IVF cycle in about two weeks. WE are continuing to use own eggs and sperm at this point. RE says to be persistent. I am keeping an open mind. Whatever it takes. Have a great day everyone. Hello to all of you I missed this time. Happy New Year! 2008 is our year! -chriss

Hi there eggheads, ready for 2008? Hope everyone has had a fab holiday break.

BigJ. Congratulations! What a great surprise and wonderful news to start off 2008 on this thread. Looking forward to your updates.

Kelly – good news about your donor! Keep the good news coming and hope all runs smoothly for you over the next few weeks.

Jen – sorry to hear about your DH’s Dad. Hope you are OK and everyone is coping well.

I’ve had a good break and some days off skiing in the Alps in between working which has taken my mind off things for a while. We’re hoping to finally get some news from the clinic about a new schedule/strategy soon. My last cycle was cancelled just before Christmas. Theoretically I should be starting meds again on Friday (cycle day 21). but having so many questions left unanswered is making me restless. I will be phoning through with the results of my pre-treatment scan tomorrow and expect to get some answers then.

Chriss – keeping my fingers crossed for you. Anyone else cycling in January?

A big hello to everyone. Thinking of you all and wishing you a great start to 2008!

Much love
Sonia

Hi girls

Finally i make it back, its been hectic.

Dh's Dad is comfortable just now and the Dr has said he has improved although we all know only to well that this means stable as he will not recover from all these problems but at least we know he is ok. It was so tough leaving him in the hospital the other day but hopefuly we are trying to plan our IM trip around a visit to see him first.

My af is due either 10th or 11th then patches will be slapped on. IM rang me today and confirmed we have provisionally booked the 28th at 1200 for FET. Although this might change a day or 2 depending on flights and af date. There is a 2 week margin after i have my scan that i can do ET, so we have a bit of room for change although our hols are in at work so it will definately be around that week sometime.

We are hoping to drive to see dh's Dad then fly over from England. The only thing is that means we have to fly to Barcelona Girona airport. I dont mind on the way there but on the way back we would have to get a bus from Av Diagonal to the airport (app 1hr) then fly home then i can rest for an hour or 2 at my sis-in-laws house which is just beside tje airport then drive another 4 hrs up to Scotland. The guy at IM said this was fine but i'm still a bit wary. So would appreciate any advice, do you think its ok to travel this much the day after ET????

Ok i have been at work then on the treadmill and being a good girl with my diet so i am now whacked and away to chill

I will be here soon to keep you all going---promise

Hi ladies - Just surfacing for air after the last few mad capped crazy weeks! - Boy am I glad that's all over and I can now get down to the serious business of making babies! You are right Chriss - 2008 WILL be our year. :D :D :D And what a fabulous start to it with BigJ's news too! Congratulations and thanks for the inspiration...

To kick off 08, I'm aiming for a FET around the 25th Jan (using own eggs left over from last cycle). So Sonia, KellyM, Jen1D, ChrisS - I know I'll be in excellent company this month with all you girls! Started suprefact shots and progynova pills last week which have been making me feel like cr#p - very tired and headachy, but I know it's just the drugs and am desparately mustering up all the PMA I can in the last few days to try and counteract it. Also experimenting with acupuncture for the first time. It makes me feel kind of drowsy afterwards but so far is totally relaxing. As a seasoned IVFer now, I guess I'm at the 'anything goes' stage where I'm game to try (and have tried) just about everything!!!

My new clinic has me on a caffeine and alcohol free diet with a bit of exercise thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately I have slipped up a tad - on New Years Eve (ok, now that can be forgiven  ) and had a wee glass of wine the other day at a night out with the girls...This week's a tough one tho with 2 good friends having babies yesterday and on Monday. Going to visit one of them tonight and luckily the other one is in a different country so the 'exposure' will be minimal!

Jen1D - I hope your dad is recovering well. About your arduous journey back the day after ET - can you stay an extra day in Barcelona? The travel sounds quite demanding and if you can afford the time, Barcelona is a fab city to hang about in, (if you have the time off work and can take into account the additional cost of staying another night).

Big Hi to all the Eggheads and looking forward to BFPs with you guys this year!

Andrea

Hi Andrea, you sound really good! It's great to hear from you. It's right around the corner for you. Think positively! The acupuncture sounds great, maybe this will be the thing that makes it work! About your friend having babies... We all know the difficulty of watching those around us become pregnant and have babies all the while we are still struggling. I had to go to yet another baby shower last week for a good friend from work. At least she is aware and sensitive to what I am going through. Shopping for those gifts is a killer though. Did you hear the latest??? Now Nicole Kidman is pregnant. Everyone is pregnant! I am trying to share in the happiness of others and ward off my jealousy. That would be the positive thing to do. If it can happen for them it can happen for us. Big smile. I have to force myself, but I will be strong, you be strong too. Thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for you girl. Talk to you soon. -chriss

Thanks for your help Andrea but dont think another day is possible as dh had to start back at work. We are having ET at 1200 the day before and i then have bed rest for the whole afternoon, evening and night then fly the next day. I spoke to the clinic yesterday and they feel this is fine but as always i cant help but worry. Its silly really as people ski, horse ride etc etc and dont even know they are pregnant.
We will make a decision soon as af is due probably tomorrow so we have to get things booked. THats the next worry that we book and then my
f-i-l takes a turn for the worst???????

Oh life---its crap eh

Thanks

Jen1d, if the doctors are saying travel is ok, it must be. I know in the past the 2ww was BED REST, but it seems that current practice has changed that. As long as you are not going crazy, you should do what you have to do. The worry and stress over it is probably worse. Try to let go if you can, so much of this is out of our control. I am thinking of you and want the best for you. Keep the PMA. I remind myself of this ALL DAY LONG! When the worry/negative thoughts come along, I try to quickly eject them and replace them with positives. We are strong, we are getting stronger. We are in it for the long haul. Stay positive. Keep up the treadmill. P.S. Hope DH's dad is doing well. Thinking of you. Now keep making me laugh! -chriss

Bollocks - just lost a long but whiney post! (just as well to spare you ladies...!)

Chriss - funny you should mention Nicole Kidman being pregnant! When I heard the news, I got quite depressed. Now how pathetic is that!? It's not like she's a friend of mine or anything . I don't know why I got so upset - (Actually when I lived in Sydney, her house was in the next suburb to mine!)

As for shopping for EVERYONE else's baby gifts, I actually quite get into it in a masochistic sort of way. My shopaholic tendancies tend to over buy, so sometimes I'm left with some very cute little outfits that I 'inadvertently' end up keeping for me one day. Now that is really sad, don't you think? They are irresistable wee things tho, like baby converse boots, NZ All Blacks rompers (for those non rugby fans, they're like the New Zealand equivalent of the Red Socks in US I guess or your national football team). I'm quite sure my DH is going to find them one day and think I'm completely mad. Nevertheless, I have started to give away some of them now (but not all  ) as there are no shortage takers nowadays as 'everyone' I know is pregnant!

Anyway, thanks again guys for the PMA. Jen1D - Chriss is right. If you can't stay an extra day after ET, don't stress over it. I think you've planned the logistics of it all quite well - just take it easy!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends!

Hi girls

Not feeling so great just now, still got the snuffles so just a quick email to let you know that af arrived this afternoon and all the flights and hotel is booked.
Scan should be on the 18th, will confirm this monday and ET on the 28th.

Thanks for your help and advice. I checked out with the Dr and they said its ok as long as i rest after ET and since i have from 1pm in the afternoon until 6am the next day i think thats fine. After we fly home we might stay over at my sis-in-laws, which is just beside the airport before driving home the next day but i will be sitting on my butt the whole time so should be fine.

Hope everyone is doing ok and more girls appear back soon
