You are lucky to have so many fertilized eggs, that allows the lab the chance to grow them to day 5 (bastocyst stage). Day 5 embies are very stong embies and from most of what I read have a higher implantation success rate. The Lab grades the embies on the inner and outer cells. one type of cell forms the embryo itself and the other the placenta. The grades are A, B, and C. They will choose to transfer the best ones with the best grades first. However, my expereience was that none of my best grad embies (AA) implanted for what ever reason. My last two frozen to think were grade C D, and one of em implanted. It doesn't always matter what grade they are. There have been many successful pregnancies with beautiful and perfect babies that started out as a low grade embie. Don't worry if you lose some embies trying to grow them to day 5. You have plenty embies, and most likely if they din't make it in the lab then they probably would not have made it inside your uterus either. The survivors are the stong heathy embies! Now I am praying for continued growth! :D

CT_Michele--Congratulations on your one embie! :D Your one very special embie!! To make a code of your embie and paste it on forum, join http://photobucket.com/ then upload your photos in the album. If you have anymore questions just ask. I can't wait to see your little embie!

Esperanza--Way to go girl!!!!!!!!Cant wait to hear the fert report!
I loved your DH and ER story! We probably don't realize just how excited are hubbies get....your story kinda puts it in perspective LOL  .

Hellokitty--so glad to hear your embie is holding on! Thank you for sharing that wonderful and inspiring story. I'm glad your hubby said something to the RE about the comment of miscarriage cuz that was exactly what I thought.....that should have NEVER been said to you like that. Way to go on the support DH !
As far as me wanting to know the sex as soon as possible, YOU BET I DO! :D Hubby says he doesn't want to know , but he knows I can't keep a secret too LOL

Tali-- Grow follies grow...hope your E2 is what you want

Colesmom-- No Cysts - Great News! :D

Neffi - happy stimming tomorrow :D

To anyone I may have missed I hope your week is full of wonderful blessings!

Well, it is so nice to hear some of your success stories and all the support you give each other. I pretty much had a smooth 1st IVF up until there were only 5 eggs out of the 10 follicles day of ER. The good news for us was that all 5 fertilized! So many ups and downs. Of course we then had to struggle with how many to transfer and on which day. My RE wanted to be "aggressive" because of my age factor and so we transfered all 5, even a wee one that we had. He also believed it was better to get them back in there on Day 3 because he feels they will do better in the uterus.
Now I am in the 2ww. I feel pretty confident with all the decisions. Does anyone have any opinions or words of wisdom? I would love to hear, thanks for the support gals!

Good Morning - just wanted to shoot off a quick reply to washingtonda about what can happen now to those precious embies:

It is very common for embryos to arrest (stop dividing) afer the first division or at the two cell stage. Sadly, 2 of my 5 did this. I don't think you should obsess over what grade they are. My RE didn't even tell me and I didn't ask. After some online research (he did give me the pic of the embies he put back), I determined that they were certainly not of the highest quality with quite a bit of fragmentation - but since I am pregnant now, I guess that doesn't matter.

esperenza - my DH had trouble as well. The nurse said we could 'collect' at home since many men are shy, but DH said he couldn't get much of the first , well, you know, into the jar and had to do it again. He has low volume anyway, so I was quite nervous. Of course, we were late leaving home and the clinic is an hour away. We did ICSI so they only needed 12 good swimmers thank goodness.

Am off to get my 1st u/s now. So excited!

Keisha – I am so happy for you. That little bean is hanging on and he/she will continue to fight on… congrats, we’ll keep sending lots of prayers and positive thoughts your way. Good for your DH for saying something to your RE about the phone call. I can’t believe how insensitive people can get!

Esperanza – So excited for you.. Congrats on a successful ER.. Can’t wait to hear the results

Tammy S – Your turn is coming up soon. Hope stimming will go easy for you and you will grow lots of follies.

Colesmom – Yay! No cyst. Don’t worry about doing the shots it will all become so easy after the first couple.

Washingtonda- I can’t help much as I have never made it this far yet. But wanted to tell you to try to relax and not worry so much. Hang in there!

CT Michelle – woooo hooo! Congrats girl. That is so exciting.

Neffi – Glad AF showed up. Let us know how your baseline went.

MLB – Good luck today – Let us know how the u/s goes

My E2 doubled again yesterday – which is good news. We go back in tomorrow and since tomorrow will be my 15th day of stimming, I am thinking they will want to decide what to do next. My gut says to go for the IVF even if there is only one mature follie. We tried the iui and it did not work and since the success rates are so much lower with the iui, I think I would think “what if”.. Wish me luck tomorrow, maybe the other 3 caught up and I go into ER with 3 mature follies. Of course my ER will end up being on Saturday and we have plans all day Saturday and are supposed to have a dinner party Saturday night…. ****life***

xoxo

Thanks Schel for the technical help, here is my first ultrasound. I know it is hard to see, but that black hole in the middle is the sac and in it is a tiny tiny dot, which I think is the baby. I know I will be able to see more next time.

RE: Can I join in?

Post by andnichole »

May I join you all? I have been reading the posts on this group for the past month and following along with everyone's great news and setbacks. I am just starting my first cycle with IVF. I am on Lupron right now and had my Day 3 baseline bloodwork and u/s done this morning. I am waiting for the nurse to call me this afternoon with my levels and to let me know when I can begin stimming. I have learned so much from everyone here. You all are such a supportive group.

Thanks Tali. I would feel the same way you do about wondering what would have happened if you didn't try with the one follicle. Can't wait to hear your results. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I do have one question, actually two. Do you normally start the stimulation drugs the day after your baseline if all things look good? Then you are on the stimulation drugs approximately 10 days give or take? Can you tell I am trying to time out in my head when my ER and ET will be? I lack patience...LOL

andnichole - I think every clinic is different as far as the baseline. My baseline was a week before I started stims. 10 days is the norm - You will have a much better idea after your first u/s which is usually on day 5 of stimming.

Good luck.

Got my call today. All of the follicles are still holding on. I was told that there were like 6 at 4 cell and I even had some at 6 cell. I was told that all of them had a small amount of fragmentation which concerns me. She told me none of them were more than 10% fragmented this morning and told me that I may have my transfer tomorrow or they still may wait for the blast.

I should receive a call by 8:00am tomorrow letting me know if I need to come in that day by 12:15 or if they are going to blast. She said that they wanted to continue to monitor them over night to see how they do and make a decision in the am.

Cn anyone tell me if there is anything to worry about with fragmented cells.

To the girls that are now pregnant, were any of your cells fragmented?

Please help me. I am a little worried but happy that I still have 14 trying to strive.
