Mia: trust me, I was cycling at a granny's pace. I just figured that I should do at least 30 minutes to 1 hour a day until I start stimms. My nurse told me when I start the Gonal & Menopur I should take it easy.

Rio: Thanks for the info about the Menopur. Now I'm really looking forward to the burn. LOL! :P

Kildean: glad to read you will be tossing those bcp's after tomorrow. Happy dance :D

KatieG: what's up. Haven't seen you around lately. I hope all is well.

Quick question: If I prepare the syringe with the Lupron and then cap it and take it with me can I go out tonight and just inject myself w/o worrying about drawing p the meds in a public bathroom??

As far as side effects, I have had a pounding headache since yesterday - it comes and goes - that is with Lupron. I am just glad I don't itch all over like last time!

Rio: I think I am closer to Weezie's dates after talking to the nurse :( But it sounds like you are taking a lot of meds quicker than me. When I used the Menopour it buned only during and maybe a few seconds after. Soory, it helped me to have someone else do those. The lupron I can do myself w/o a problem.

Mia: I have no idea about taking the syringe out with you. Did you get a travel kit? Kind of like one a diabetic might carry. The one I got came with a padded pouch for the vial with a sleeve for a cold pak. Do you keep your Lupron in the fridge? If not, I don't suppose there would be a problem. Just be very careful not to loose any of your dosage.

Oh yeah, and thanks for sharing the itching thing. Now you got me scratching. I haven't noticed any real big side effects. But maybe that's because I'm only still on the Lupron and Dex. My night sweats are getting worse. But I've been battling that for 2 years now so no big deal.

And where might we be going this evening that we will be taking our little shot with us????? Hot date with DH? Baby shopping? Do tell. Inquiring minds want to know. LOL!

GOOD LUCK TONIGHT! :D

I looked in my booklet I was given for my IVF class and it says I can have a 2 hour leeway before or after normal time. SO I guess I can just have it late tonight. Hope that will be alright... did ya'lls clinics say anything about taking the injections late??

I dont know for sure, but I blame my second IUI failure on not stimming well...I took longer to get mature eggs and didnt get as many...due to taking the meds between 5 and 8 every night. The other 2 IUI's ...I took them at the exact time every time and stimmed less days with alot more eggs. That was just my feeling on it. I dont know however, if it really makes a difference. I just know that I am gonna make sure I take them the same time everyday....just in case. Hope that helps.

Ummmm. I am kind of crashing your thread, although technically since my FET is at the beginning of Feb, I am one of you  I hope you don't mind.

I saw MP's question... and although it may be too late, as you may not see this... I wanted to reassure you. Several times I have drawn up lupron ahead of time and injected it while out of the house (i.e., restaurant bathrooms, the car, a friend's house, etc.). As long as it doesn't need to be refrigerated, you are good to go.

Good luck!

I just did my first Lupron shot!!!!! I was soooooooooo nervous, but iced it really well (my skin was actually red after about 2mins) and then I just stuck the needle it and didn't feel a thing! I am so relieved! You guys were right about the Lupron on hurting! Thanks :)
Now i just have to do my Dexamethasone tonight and I have a few more BCPills left!

I asked my nurse again today about the 12hrs between the stim meds (Gonal-F and Menopur for me). She said that they prefer them to be 12hrs apart exactly, or as close to it as possible. So I'm doing 7am and 7pm.

Kildean: Thanks for the post about PCOS. Did your RE put you on Metformin or your regular doctor? I haven't been told any of this, but they aren't even sure if I have PCOS. I started cutting out all carbs and sugar drinks today. Only water and wheat bread for me :)

Anyone else having side-effects from the Lupron? I read itching and headaches here....anything else I should expect and start worrying abot ahead of time? :?

THanks for your input on my injections. (And Sassy you are welcome here any time :)) I went out on my date with dh to a little British pub (in Texas) and got home to take my Lupron an hour and a half late. I will email the nurse tomorrow and ask her about drawing up the injection early and then heading out. i mean it just isn't realistic with our lifestyles to not go out in the evening! I will be more consistent with the timing from now on, I don't want to compromise anything, but still want some time with dh. And let me tell you girls there is very little stress with injections after a couple of glasses of wine.

Ok I better get to bed. Goodnight Sistas!!

Hi ladies!
welcome sassy!
I am sort of in my holding pattern - and am on zero meds and feel great!!!!
my last bcp was monday, and I start shots saturday so I am finally not a big puffy mess :D at least for a few days
I was feeling a bit down and anxious a couple of days ago, and I felt like all of my girlfriends just sort of disappeared - no one was calling me back - and the one who did call, I just can't talk to her about all of this - I'm sure they just have busy lives, but I was feeling icky and really left out which is precisely the opposite of what I want to feel like going into all of this

happy happy happy and tomorrow I get my baseline and pickup a boatload of meds -I cleaned the fridge (I'm sort of a food hoarder ) so there is room

We decided we will do some frosties if we have any good ones- my girlfriend who DID call me back insisted upon it - sort of the catch 22 method
I also had to sign a waiver for assisted hatching - oh so many papers...
I guess that's just in case they decide it's best for us

anyhoo - off to cleanup the last bits of xmas and make some coffee - I am still allowed, right???
tomorrow I'm going to have sushi and blue cheese as my acupuncturist told me those are a no-no - but a Guinness now and then can't be bad, right???
cheers and many great thoughts for BFPs all around- I know the shots are not easy, but we can do it!!!

Loopie: You're not left out. We are all here with you. I'm so glad for this board. And I have gotten DH involved with it too. Now when he comes home he will ask what all of you have been up to. Kinda cute :) We too had to sign for assisted hatching. I don't think I signed that many papers since I bought a house. LOL!

Mia: Glad to read you and DH had a night out! Did you and DH hit Baker Street Pub? We have one not even a mile from us. DH and I love going there. In fact that's where we went the night before I started Luporn. I have given up drinking, caffine, shellfish, and my occasional smoke. So the day and night before I really hit it hard. Sushi and beer for lunch. A big fat burger and lots of beer for dinner with chocolate cake for dessert. My nurse told me to stop all bad habits the night before injections. I find myself wanting to have a cocktail more and more, but what the hell, I've made a decision to do this 100% and I've got to stick by it. Besides, DH would kill me!!!

21bat: Congratulations on getting over your first Lupron shot. I don't know how you ladies do it. I thought I would prefer doing the shots myself, but now that DH is doing them for me, I just couldn't see myself in that position. Kudos to ya'll. :D

to all: for those of you with more hectic lifestyles than me, the travel kit would seem like the ticket. The one I have is from "serono". I bet any medical supply store would carry something similar. It's not big at all. The size of a small clutch. Comes with alcohol preps, a mini sharps container, syringes, bandaids, and a cold pak pouch. Just a thought to help keep us all on schedule. :D I plan on using it when I have to do lab work. I will bring my gonal with me b/c I cannot take the injection before any lab work. That way I can have my nurse do it while I'm at the doctors office.

Sassy: welcome to the thread.

Hi ladies...it sounds like you are all well underway! Congratulations!

Weezie - where did you get your travel kit? I have to travel by plane while I am doing lupron, and it sounds like your travel kit is just what I need. I did a search for serono online, but didn't see anything. Maybe I am just not using the right key words?

Well, best of luck to you all. FYI - I don't know of any secrets to stop the menopur sting, but I recall it getting easier and easier...and I was on 3 vials per night, mixed with only 1 cc of water. I think you just get used to it. I only iced for the progesterone shots. I also had TERRIBLE headaches with the lupron last time. Don't know of a remedy for that either, except dim lights and some peace and quiet. One more thing, and then I'll shut up...this time around I'm trying a meditation cd to help me relax. There's 3 tracks, one while you're stimming, one for the time between ER and ET, and one for the 2ww. I haven't listened to it yet because I haven't started stimming, but I'm hoping it'll give me a little peace of mind this time. With my first cycle I was one big ball of nerves through the whole thing, and I really think my lack of sleep and constant stress over all of it contributed to my BFN. Here's the site that I ordered it from:

Loopie: Yeah - isn't it nice to be drug free  Be glad you have some girlfriends to call. (lad to hear one eventualy called you back!) With IF you don't need meds as an excuse to feel emotional, it really is a rollercoaster ride! Hmmm, blue cheese I forgot that was a no-no. I am still drinking a glass of wine every night or so, My nurse said it was fine. But I have cut out the coffee and coke. I bought some one liter bottles of water so I can make myself drink one a day.

Weezie: We went to The Lion and Rose Pub. At first I ordered a water, but it tasted like faucet, so then I ordered a glass of wine. Maybe the next time we are in Houston we can meet up at that Baker Street Pub

I need email my nurse and find out about preparing the injection ahead of time. I can't see why there would be a problem, unless it is keeping the needle clean... Dh watched me do the shot this time b/c I told him I needed him to be a bit more invloved and it was nice having him encourage me :D Of course he did have a wee bit much to drink and was getting a little frisky  Not something I wanted think about before I injected myself.

I have been trying to eat more healthy and I bought some fresh spinach. I put it in everything, If I make pasta I throw it in at the end so it is semi fresh, I throw it in rice, sandwiches, you name it. I still need to work on ating more fruit. I just don't like a lot of fruit, am I wierd?

Alright ladies, I think I am off for a nap :) I love not working!!

Cornybaby: My nurse gave the kit to me. But I went online and found a site that has tons of travel kits. http://www.medicool.com/diabetes/diabet ... gwod4y-YXQ
look at the "pen plus case"

Mia: A nap does sound good. But not until I do my granny cycling :D I love eating my spinach. I made a delish cream spinach the other night and then used it in my omelette the next morning. mmmmm... I'm not a big fruit eater, but I've been buying berries (black, blue and raspberries) and using them in pudding (cheescake flavor) at night or in my cereal.

Hope all of you have a wonderful day

FINALLY

Post by sugabeanzs »

Well I went to the doctor today and my eggs are FINALLY starting to grow!!! Only 2 1/2 weeks on the injections and they finally start to figure they should grow!!! So I have another appt. on Sunday and most likely with get my HCG shot then and get them removed on Tuesday!!! Now lets just hope they are quality eggs and fertilize and whatnot. We have to get ICSI because the shape of my husbands serm. SO the Dr. thinks I have about 8 good eggs to work with so that is a blessing because these past weeks on these shots have not been the best thing in the world! I am a human pin cushion! I suppose the bad shots start soon though...the progesterone? Any tips on how to make those better??

So best wishes to everyone else out there!!!
