My twins just turned 15 months old. Seems like yesterday that they were born. I just spent 2 hours sitting at McDonalds while the boys played in the play-thing and ate a hamburger for the first time. There happened to be another mother of 2 yr old twin boys there and we chatted for quite some time. We talked about how great having twins was and how unique and special it is. You will find out the same thing. Sure it's more difficult than having just one baby, but it's also double the fun, double the joy and double the blessing.

I don't have family in the area and my DH went back to work after one week, so I was "on my own" with them and my motherly instincts just kicked in. To this day I still don't need a regular full night of sleep. You'll learn to nap if you need more sleep and you'll get into a routine that works for you. Getting up 3-4 times in the night didn't bother me. In fact, looking back now those were some pretty unique few months of bonding time with and my boys, breastfeeding, in the middle of night. Just me and them.

I breastfed them until 12.5 months. Tandem BFing them was the way to go for me. It's faster to feed them at the same time. I also supplemented them with formula as needed.

My boys were born at 33.5 weeks and didn't need any medical intervention. I ate lots of protein during my pregnancy, especially towards the end (that's supposed to help the babies gain weight) and they great weights for being preemies.

Feel free to ask me any other questions or send me a personal message. I think you'll find many ladies willing to help with advice also...and they will probably have positive stories to tell you too.

Congratulations!!! You will enjoy it!!! You are blessed and you are lucky!

Gear down turbo! Don't make yourself crazy already! the funny thing is that my twins just turned 4 months old and it seems like the time is slipping away way too fast! Right now they are both sleeping (Anna 12 hours per night straight and Bodie gets up once in 12 hours) so I have time to write.

First of all, come join the Double Trouble thread! Read it from beginning to end if you want some GREAT tips! Ask us everything and you'll hear so many different outcomes. There is no set rule for twins and everyone is so different. My twind were born at 34 weeks and needed 16 days in the NICU. I had a golden pregnancy until my hospital bedrest at 32 weeks. You'll hear women with easy babies, colic babies, women who get lots of sleep and those who get none. Everyone will help you get thru what you are going thru and inthe process you'll gain a ton of confidence knowing there is a group of women to turn to.

Recently I've been having trouble with my little fella being sick from a dose of antibiotic and the moms have all really been a source of comfort and assistance. Their suggestions have realy helped me and the encouragement is a huge bonus as well!

Enjoy the best gift ever! Twins have been my lifes biggest blessing and DH and I just couldn't imagine life w/o them. It has its challenging moments but overall we have the best days ever and they have brought a light into our lives that we never had before. You are blessed beyond words because of twins!

Best of luck to you!
Take care~

Baby2008~

I too have twins. They are about 3 months old now and it is great. I already had another son from going to one baby to having two babies at the same time was an adjustment but you adjust and it becomes second nature. I delvered my boys vaginally at 38 weeks and 5 days (so almost full term) I was never put on bed rest and both babies were able to come home with me after two days in the hospital. My husband was only able to take a few days off of work and then I was on my own and it was easier than I thought as long as you keep them on the same schedule. They are still not sleeping through the night but other than that they have been really good babies and I am surviving. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Wishing you all the best in your pregnancy, so take a deep breathe and relax, you will do fine!

I have triplets, and i care for them all by myself...(they are napping now) so IT IS VERY possible to take care of them. The sleep deprevation is usually just the begining few months. Things get better, Twins should be a piece of cake  MULTIPLES are wonderful. It truly is the best thing that could have happened to our family. I can hardly believe my babies will be one this Sunday. It was just yesterday they were in the NICU and so tiny.. each born around 5lbs. I wish you goodluck, think positive.

Having twins is such a blessing. My two are great and have been from day one. I would go as far as to say, sometimes easier than some of my friends with one baby. They have each other and even at 3 months are able to amuse the other one. They've just started to baby talk to the other one..so cute.

Don't be scared by it, embrace and enjoy every minute of it. Mine were born at 38 +2 weeks.

I have twin girls, 11 months. Belive me nobody was more shockedand frightend than me at first. I too thought how will i cope with two babies, but like kirstiA said your motherly instint just kicks in. belive metwo is much better than one. i would like more children one day, and call me mad but i would love twins again twin boy next lol. i cant imagine having one baby id feel like i was missing something. you'll think the same soon.
Dontget me wrong it is hard work at the beginning, but one baby is hard work at the beginning. The way i look at it if i can do for one i can do for another.
Are you going to breast feed or bottle feed? I bottlefed, Everyoneis differerent but i thought it was easier because hubby could help with the feeding time. i would feed one and he would feed the other. in the night have onebaby each. also what i found useful was car seats i could sit them in and feed them together easily thenwind one over my knee. some people might not agree but you will just find your own way of doing things.
anyway im going on if you want to ask anything feel free to ask.
it gets easier, i loved the 5, 6 month stage thats when you get your rewards for all your hard work. now my two keep one another entertained. they really are best of pals. youlllove it

sorry if my typing is a mess one of them has fallen asleep on me and imtrying to type at the same time.

Hi

has this helped? are you enjoying ur time anymore now?

I have twins who just turned 3. I was very lucky to have a very helpful DH who helped with the night feeds, and he took 2 weeks off work at the beginning. And when he went back to work and i was on my own during the day it was hard - but not as hard as i thought it would be. i found the trick in the early days is try to sleep when the babies are sleeping. and get yourself into a set routine as soon as possible.

one thing i loved, in fact, was the night feeds. there was nothing i liked more than sitting downstairs at 3am, with the lights low holding one of my babies close and feeding them. I feel it was the time when we bonded more closely! tiring tho it was.

Like you i was terrified, and i always say that no one could possibly understand having twins unless they have. i have a few mummy friends who ask me how i cope and the answer is always the same - what was my other option? You just get on with it. lol! so dont worry you will be fine. the joys of having twins far outweigh the trials, and every day i count my blessings, they are very good friends for each other and i watch them interact at times and i cant help giggling. plus it means they can keep each other amused for a while while i sit and catch up on my emails for half an hour etc.

I have a very close friend whose twins are the same age as mine - 3 months older in fact, and she is amazing. such a relief to have a friend who nows the trials of having twins as well as the joys. and also have you joined Tamba yet (twins and multiple births association)? (www.tamba.org.uk) you may be able to find some clubs close by that you can join, thru there. its hard but try and get yourself out and about as much as possible in the early days.

it is likely, yes, that your babies will be early. its very normal for twins to be born before 37 weeks. mine were born at 34 weeks. but like i said, they are 3 now! There was nothing wrong with them they were just impatient to get out into the world! and hospitals now what they are doing to take care of little ones, trust me!

i hope i have helped - feel free to ask me anything, PM me or whatever. im on facebook too. (join the group ivf-infertility friends)

Keep me up to date, and try and enjoy your pregnancy. wait til the later days when they move around inside you. i feel certain one was kicking the other at one point!! ha ha
